Chocolate would go really well w/ that interview w/ Baez and AL after the hearing.

"You just shoved me. That's a battery. You should know better." KB to AL

Love it.

I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the hearing today and it's so nice getting to see both viewpoints...mine from being there and yours from seeing it live. There is so much going on when you are there...listening to the people speaking, watching Casey (my best view of her was on the monitor which I was lucky enough to be sitting near), watching the Anthonys, etc. It's hard to absorb everything. That, plus the fact that AL pretty much drove me to tears from boredom...I think I tuned out almost all of her "DP-qualified jury" sermon.

I was sitting behind (lucky me) Joy, who was sitting behind the Anthonys. I thought Cindy looked very nice. She and George were dressed appropriately and they both had noticeably spent time getting ready. Cyndy's hair and makeup looked nice. Someone earlier posted that they thought she looked old(er), but, honestly, I thought she looked good. She had her head resting on George's shoulder prior to the start of the hearing. After the hearing started, during the 5 minute recess, she socialized quietly with her friends and supporters. She smiled and laughed a bit. My first thought was, "How can you socialize and be so casual at a time like this?!?" But then it was a reminder to me that life does go on for them. I can't expect them to be sad/angry/insane all the time. In the end, they are real people. (Did I ever mention to you all that she and George showed up at my daughter's school's homecoming game about a month ago???? My DD goes to a *very* small private school and we live by East Orlando which is nowhere near the Anthonys. I'm still not sure why they were there!! It's a mystery for me and I came **this** close to asking them today!)

Joy was....well, my personal opinion of her doesn't matter...so let's just say she was "Joy" in all her glory. Marching to the beat of her own drum. She spoke with the defense team (about what?)...marched right up there during the 5 minute recess and acted like she was Miss Thang. She had on this sequin shirt covered by a black jacket (it was nylon or something similar...all I know is that it made a lot of noise when she moved). She had on 2 homemade Caylee buttons...a lot of glitter was used in their construction. One said, "Justice for Caylee" or something like that. Perhaps we will be blessed with a YouTube video of her giving us a tutorial on making buttons: "You, too, can make tacky buttons!"

I missed the best part when Ashton spoke. AL babbled on and on and on....and I had to leave to go volunteer at my son's school, so by the time she finished droning on forever, I had to sneak out. Luckily I had WS to fill in what I missed! :)

When you say Joy spoke to the defense team, you mean the lawyers, not just the Anthonys right? Do they blow her off or seem to take her in? I am curious how George and Cindy responded when it turned out that due to Dominick's lawyer arguing, now the defense will not be allowed to be in on the deposition. That rather backfired, since one would assume that the defense needs very very much to hear what he is going to say and she insisted it is THEY that are asserting the privilege. Did Casey look at her folks at all? Were you there when Cindy passed Casey the note? TIA for answering.

Apologize up front if someone has already commented on this.

Did you notice neither GA or CA had a button of Caylee on or the shamrock pin? Any idea on what you think that may mean?

I never have been able to figure out the shamrock thing....GA has "a little Irish" on his side of the family, IIRC, and CA is Romanian (IIRC)....If the father is unknown, how the heck did Caylee get so Irish?
I'm a full quarter Sicilian and a full quarter Armenian, with a lot of English Isle stuff between, but even with the two strongest identifiers in my lineage, I feel a little humbled having bravado about it, because it's not like I'm Giada DeLaurentis, or anything...I dunno, just weird to me if it is not a celebrated family culture.

Andrea's "act" of supporting Casey was humorous to me!
After hearing those audio's of the seminar, I can say that she didn't do a good job today acting as if she really cares...
Too funny!

She just does not do touchy feely does she?

Did she refer to those seminar comments at the end of her motion? I was in and out and I thought I heard her mention what she really thought of jurors and the word copyright- but I couldn't hear well enough at that moment....

I too watched the confrontation between Kathi Belich and Andrea Lyon. I just didn't see anything that AL did to Kathi. The area was cramped, and the defense was just trying to get an elevator on either side of the hallway. AL is a large person, has a large bag. She may have and probably aia bumo into Belich, but I nothing intentional or malicious. I think KB was pretty wound up, though. In fact, I was a bit embarrassed befor they ever got inside. Kathi has done some mighty fine work on this case, but today, imo, wasn't quality. Sorry.

Every time AL spoke or did anything, like fakely greet the judge and inquire after his health, comfort her client, etc., I could only think about her heart-warming seminar comments. AL tried to respond to Mr. Ashton's comments on her opinion of jurors as if he was only referring to the benign things she'd said in her super boring argument today, but it didn't work and she couldn't push him on it. That must have been really annoying to her. tsk, tsk.

Since you were there...what were your impressions of KC's demeanor...(you said a little bit on the 1st thread), the defense (mainly Baez) and KC's family? I know this is a tall order but you are totally awesome and I will send you the coolest Christmas present you can only even imagine if you can share this information...oh, I forgot to mention the Prosecution too...anything about the demeanors of the main players that you can share would totally be appreciated by me.

All I want for Xmas is a good job! Preferably one that pays well, has lots of flexibility, allows me to work from home, and starts in February (so I can go to the Fraud trial). heh

Got there a little late, thanks to them moving the courtroom but not telling anyone where. :(

Did not have a good view of Casey or the SA table really, but, as mentioned, a good view of the monitor with both views. :)

People i recognized: Marinade Dave (thanks to him we found the right room, thanks Dave!), Joy W, the producer guy that's always around G&C, all the media heavy hitters, some friends of G&C, Bill Shaeffer (with a nice comfy chair, tho not forward of the bar), Dominic C.

Notably missing: Macaluso and LKB. Maybe Macaluso has been muzzled? :)

A mostly mundane hearing, until the Ashton fireworks. And I am STILL pumped from that!!!! :woohoo:

Have to note that I had several thoughts during Andrea's 30-minute DP plea, that apparently other people had too:

One thought was FILIBUSTERING. Why? She repeated a large part of her motion verbatim. She was losing people.

Another thought was: THIS is how she "wins" her cases - she BORES PEOPLE TO TEARS!!!! Including the Judge. They give her what she wants just to make her shut up! heh

Afterwards G&C made a beeline for the elevators, with a mass of media following. We jumped in an empty elevator thinking we would avoid the mess, and then THEY JUMPED IN! With their entourage. Ooof. No cameras at least. Joy made some comment about "warding off the cameras".

Might have more later, after a nap and my memory improves...

Today, I find myself running short of time. Therefore, I apologize in advance, as I have just viewed the Hearing and my observations, I'm sure, have already been discussed.

KC's emotional display during Ashton's arguments, IMO, seemed she was "re-living," if you will, her murderous actions against Caylee - however, in no way, did I get the feeling of remorse - just that she was experiencing remorse for having gotten caught.

The wiping of her tears and subsequent viewing of either her fingers or the tissue, spoke volumes ...... why, oh why would one truly in a crippling emotional state give two hoots if their mascara is running? That, to me, is the reason she continued looking at her fingers and the tissue, to make sure "all the black" was not left around her eyes ........ also, all during these *wiping, looking* episodes - she continued to smooth each side of her hair.

Now come on ......... if I were innocent, sitting in KC's chair and listening to all that was said - it would not matter one iota if I had "black tracks" running down my face, snot (pardon me, please) dripping off my chin or hair looking wild after my attempts to just "get it out of the way" during my depth of despair.

This woman, as most of us agree, is a cold, calculated killer - even AL cannot prep her enough to appear any differently, IMO.

I don't think AL bumped her on purpose either, but do disagree with your last statement..
Honestly, I get sick of reporters who get the chance to ask the hard questions just let them slip by..
I like the ones who are not afraid to ask the tough questions, and put Baez and Lyons in a position that makes them feel uncomfortable..
How many media interviews have they done when you know the person interviewing them is thinking in the back of their mind "omg you know she is guilty, why spin all this BS! What about the child? What about Caylee?"
I like Kathy, and I think she is a voice that Caylee needs because she is not intimidated by any of them.. I was more embarrassed that Lyons who doesn't seem to know how to shut up, couldn't say anything in defense of herself, because she knows that what Kathi said was true..

AL had her hand up when they entered the elevator area, and seemed quite riled. I think it's b/c KB brought up the seminar comments, which IMO, are sauce for the goose. I think the reason that some are turned off by KB is b/c she is not a softball reporter. She does her research, and is not squeamish about asking the tough, nitty-gritty questions. If AL & JB want kid glove treatment by reporters, they should confine their interviews to Maggie R of CBS.

And IMO, she did shove KB. Not forcibly, but it was a way of saying *Get out of here. We're through.* I don't think KB would then go on to say in an aside to someone else off camera......."We got that on camera", if it didn't happen. AL was pissed. And she is not very savvy if she thought those seminar comments were never going to come back and haunt her. JMO

Just finished the longer version of the interview, outside the courtroom with Baez, Lyons and Kathi B., *(Patty G has it posted in today's News) WOW, Kathi B., really fired some tough questions at AL, who was visibly upset, and as Kathi says, tried to push her....

Not to be Missed.........

Where where where?

Too funny!

Yeah that was disgustingly unprofessional. I'm really in shock at how ineffectual AL's arguments were. It basically translated to - 'If it means we can't win then it's unfair'. It was jsut opinion like Ashton pointed out. The system is so overcomplicated and technical and AL doesn't like it when people figure things out for themselves and disagree with her. I'm sure those studies she quoted could be countered by other studies and they don't prove any kind of connection to a liklihood that a jusry will go for the death penalty. Isn't that junk social-science?

Finally, WOW at little miss Casey being very, VERY mad today. It was chilling to get a glimpse of that rage bubbling up beneath the surface. Scary stuff. I feel bad for Caylee that she had to live with that monster, and also that there were 2 people fighting so very hard against her cause today in court. Thank god for the SA.

second that Waaaaiiittt

Is that allowed??? is that how they are communicating????:banghead:

originally from Amil

When the hearing was over and KC was being taken away she did turn to wave or say goodbye to her parents this time. And I forgot, but during the hearing Cindy wrote a note to KC and passed it forward and KC received it from Baez. At that point I wanted to write her a note and pass it to her too, but held back.
I did stop the cute guy from Nancy Grace on the sidewalk and said "the Anthony's had 3 carseats, how do we know that the one they gave the police is the one they should have?" He said, " I don't know".

(I don't know how to bring it from the closed first thread) so I cut and pasted and made my own QUOTE - lol here is the hyperlink..

Yeah I think it was hitting home for Casey that she messed up and is going to be harshly punished. There's no way out it really. Odd to see the difference between the actual crying and the eye-poking/rubbing fake-crying act she usually does.

I have to say I am not annoyed with the AL show at all. When I listened the second time, I caught glimpses of what we will see at the penalty phase. AL is there for ONE reason only. She is there to get the DP off the table. She is not there to prove innocence, nor to "find the truth". She is very adept at being passive aggressive. She first states an understanding of the courts position and her respect for that position, but then comes back later with the suggestion that could do it her way "if they were so inclined". She states that she has not read all of the case law cited by counsel for the jail, but picks apart and dismisses cases cited that she deems to have no relation to the motion at hand (FYI, you can cite case law to support nothing more than your choice of wording). She argues that her client can't receive emotional support from family and friends, yet fails to mention that any special treatment bestowed upon KC would create a larger issue relating to other inmates. She used the term "kill my client" yet never referred to Caylee as "killed". She appears IMO frumpy and simple, yet gets her digs in there. IMO her holding KC's arm was not as an effort to support her as much as it was an effort to control her. KC's FIRST instinct and noted behavior was to ask JB to "make it stop". When forced to listen to Mr. Ashton, her first behavior was to bristle, sit up in her chair, and grit her teeth. MY opinion is that KC was so agitated because the scenario that was being presented was not "exactly" how it happned and she didn't like hearing a version she knew not to be true. The question would then be....how would she "know"?

What I found interesting was when the Judge made his comment about 'reinventing the wheel' and AL went into her spiel about having two juries one for the conviction and one for the penalty phase and then having to admit the Supreme Court had already denied that idea.... it seemed to stall her - like no-one had ever taken her 'there' before in live court and she wasn't prepared......
