2010.04.15 Presser Video: Sheriff, Haleigh Likely Dead; POI Identified

I missed all the info posted by my fellow WSer's. (TY!) I'm eastcoast, watching HLN and the presser had already started when they went to it but there was no audio for a minute or two.

Sheriff said there are SEVERAL POI!
Misty is in trouble!

When asked if Haleigh could of been in the river, he said that it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
BUT HE WAS WILLING TO FIND THAT NEEDLE

When asked about analysts like DNA, he said they had an anthropologist on seen that helped. They are working on building a case. Won't discuss ITEMS that were taken for analysis. Tip did not come from TN.

He just said he is comfortable to call it a HOMISIDE case!

An arrest is coming. People are finally starting to talk. Look, he gets chocked up when showing Haleigh's picture.

Forgive the typing just wrote down the best I could.

I wish I could be watching it right now HLN thinks Tiger Woods is more important !!!!!

He keeps saying "people are starting to talk."

That makes sense, and gives me faith in him, in that it sounds like he knows they're cracking, but they haven't given the real, full story, yet.

Sounds typical of police interrogations with suspects, where they tell 10 stories that get closer to the truth, before they actually, if ever, tell the whole truth.

Several POI's...

Interesting...

Looks like brother and sister are in serious trouble here!

I also found his statement about Joe somewhat interesting..
"he's lawyered up"

thanks for updates, y'all -- I waited all day for a presser - just had a feeling about it -- then my lappie friggin' CRASHED about 30 seconds into presser! :banghead:

Bless him. That is a man who truly cares and is as heartbroken as we all are.

River Search Continues Into 3rd Day; Items Recovered

POSTED: Thursday, April 15, 2010
UPDATED: 4:05 pm EDT April 15, 2010

"Snip" http://www.news4jax.com/news/23160821/detail.html

SATSUMA, Fla. -- Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said at a news conference Thursday afternoon that investigators believe Haleigh Cummings is likely dead and persons of interest have been identified.

Hardy said items have been recovered. He said it's unknown if the items are related to the case, and they will be sent to labs for analysis.

Hardy said he's confident in calling this a homicide investigation, and he said some "people are starting to talk" and cooperate, though he did not say who he was referring to.

Hardy said no one has been arrested, but investigators are "working on building a case."

The sheriff said of Misty Cummings, the last person to see Haleigh the night she vanished, that she has been acting more calm and, "I think she's coming to realize she's in trouble."

Hardy also clarified rumors that someone was in custody in the case, saying, "This rumor is false."

Video to presser, Thanks to Patty!

Very interesting.

It is now a homicide, which we all suspected but prayed it wasn't true.
Several POI's.
JO has lawyered up.
Misty is realizing that she is in trouble.
The river is believed to be a crime scene.

If I'm wrong, please correct me. What I gather from the presser is that Haleigh left the house alive and that most likely, Misty knows who did it. I'm going to assume that it is JO. The crime was then committed in the area of the river.

Joe had an attny already! Did anyone ask how ron's demeanor or how he is handling all of this??? I never heard..................

No not in custody he stated that was a rumor.

Right, but what I meant is that if he hopes to make an arrest soon, wouldn't that mean the POI is not currently in jail? So, someone other than MC, RC, TC?

Thank you everyone for posting what was said at the news conference. I was unable to watch it here at work.
