I see where it went from Ron was told to the family is planning... media spin and sensationalism. It's disgusting!

Mew-now the media is saying Crystal's attorney stated that the family is not in the process of making funeral plans. The media makes me so #$%^&& :furious: !! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Action news has been the worst about covering this case - getting facts correct. Recall their report about the van being returned ? Totally messed up, saying the van belonged to Misty. Anything coming from this outlet that I have seen has a slant to it, always has IMO.

Thank you atherella for posting this - Do you happen to know why TJ Hart/the sky973 is the only "media outlet" that seems to have gotten this press release? I've done some extensive searching and the only other source(s) for this press release by Crystal's attorney are just online message boards and misc. websites forums/blogs that either link to thesky973.com in order to read the story and view/open the press release or a link that opens the pdf of Crystal's attorney's statement directly - I just find it odd that an attorney, especially in a high-profile case such as this, would only release the statement to one actual media outlet or that only one media outlet (thesky973) would be requesting a statement from Crystal and/or her attorney, especially in light of the recent activity in the case. TIA!
*If any other WS members have any info/thoughts on this, please chime in also. Thanks.

Hi Bathbuddys, I do understand where you are coming from I really do, but having lost 2 children myself, I have to disagree with ya....There are some things that are worse than burying your own child, as hard as that is to imagine.. at least I believe so..Thank the Good Lord I have never had to experience those, as there is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn't make it out alive...


Just for starters~

(1) The NOT knowing where your child is..wondering if they are alive or not...(I can't even begin to imagine that..)

(2) If they are alive, are they are being taken care of..being abused or tortured?.. would be worse imo.

(3) Coming to the realization that your child may not only have been murdered, but murdered by those who were suppose to love and take care of her.. OMG..can't even think about that..

I don't think anyone is being mean for the sake of being mean, I truly don't..it's more anger than anything else,..ok, at times rage, I'll give you that but I can't/won't even apologize for it, it's how I feel. While I know and do respect the fact that you don't believe that Ron had anything to do with HaLeigh's disappearance and apparent death, many of us do believe that with the same passion that you or others may believe that he didn't..and not only do some believe that, it's still unclear to many, just how much TN or GGMS knows about what happened. Personally, I don't feel that they had anything to do with it, but I absolutely feel that they haven't been honest at the very least and lied for Ron and Misty at HaLeigh's expense and that is infuriating to me, as a mother and a grandmother myself..but all that is just MY opinion..

Speaking for myself, My heart goes out to any and all members of HaLeigh's family (Cummings & Sheffield's) that had nothing to do with the tragic end of HaLeigh's life and any cover up of what really happened to her..

That said, I surely do hope and pray that if LE doesn't already have 'HaLeigh' (y'all know what I mean, I can't go there) that they soon will have, as I believe that is the only way the family will ever have closure. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to have a memorial/funeral, whatever one wants to call it, without having some tangible proof, scientific or otherwise of HaLeigh..<<shudders>>..

I AM SORRY that you think that I am in any way sticking up for Ron as I am not. I am saying that I dont know who did this awful crime. These people all seem to lie and in the beginning I thought that the real mother had something to do with it (an abduction) for what Ron had done to her and she did have the motive of not wanting to pay child support. Casey killed her daughter so that she could party and have a boyfriend so child support seemed like a good reason I guess, (G I hate even saying that) but anyway I have no idea who or why would harm this baby. I pray that this comes to an end soon and that Haleigh did not suffer to die as well as b thrown in the river to never smile again. I do not want to believe that any parent could do harm to her but I am so wrong these days as it is happening every day now...

I didn't know TJ had this. I got it from Action News earlier this afternoon.

I knew that Shoemakers comment was BS. Ron is in jail there is no way for him to plan a funeral and not only that but it is up to the mother anyway.

Ron and Crystal met today. I wish people could get along on their behalf since they obviously have got beyond this for their daughter. Law Enforcement told him to plan a funeral. They decided to have her declared dead and it sounds like they decided Crystal will handle the funeral, I am sure with his and his families input. This is confusing, because the reporter does say that the family is being assisted in planning for a funeral. Then the SA said (per the reporter) that prosecuting the case will be tough because they don't have a body, so where's the truth ?

They met today and were going to decide to have Haleigh declared legally dead. Because she died when she did and because Ron had custody LE would tell him to make the funeral plans. Sounds to me like he and Crystal decided that she would do it. I think that is awesome.

Several things I noticed here..

She is bio moms attorney, and she makes it clear it is a homicide investigation.
Where as LE just said: That he felt comfortable calling it a homicide investigation.

Also..The atty for bio mom, only states that Funeral Arrangements have not been made, nor are they being made at this time..

However, She continues by saying:That The parents have spoken to each other regarding the above etc...

So they have discussed a Funeral , but have decided to not make any arrangements as of yet??

It does not mean the meeting did not take place. They did not meet to plan a funeral. They were supposed to be deciding if they were going to have Haleigh declared dead. I have no idea why the Justice and Action News Would say they are helping the family plan a funeral. Perhaps they offered and the family accepted but just not yet? I have no idea how Action News could have got that so wrong. Unless the Lawyer issued the press release prior but according to the dates she did not. Could be as simpe as the parents need more evidence to declare her dead.

Ugh... This is so confusing.

Maybe the Justice Coalition person hadn't been in touch with the family about the funeral but when the reporter called and inquired she said that of course their organization does everything they can to help grieving parents, among other kind things, and it got a bit twisted by the reporter who was operating under the assumption that the family is in the process of planning one.

Maybe the family has agreed to have a service for Haleigh (call it a funeral or a memorial service or a celebration of her life or whatever you want to) but would prefer to give themselves some time to get over the worst shock or wait until the investigation has proceeded and there are charges or until LE can give them further details about how Haleigh died, or, if there are other family members such as Annette Sykes who refuse to believe that she is dead, until they can be convinced some more, or until she can be declared legally dead.

According to Merchant he presented two options to parents Ronald Cummings and Crystal Sheffield about a funeral for Haleigh:

The couple could wait seven years for Haleigh to be declared dead by the state of Florida and then be issued a death certificate or they can go before a judge before the seven years lapses to request a death certificate.

The talk of funerals and death certificates all comes while Law Enforcement officials continue to deny that a body or any form of remains belonging to Haleigh Cummings were located during their three day search of the St. Johns River.

There are persons of interest still to be named. Sheriff's Office is not releasing names we were told "I think ya'll know who they are."
