What records show about Kyron Horman’s stepmom, dad and other relatives.

In the nearly three weeks since Kyron Horman disappeared, law enforcement officials, reporters and thousands of online commenters have focused their attention on the 7-year-old boy’s fractured family.

This an interesting read. Dang, just dang.

So not as blended as they want us to think.
Sorry, I'm getting the impression this is like Haleigh's case.
As far as a bio dad taking his child away from bio mom.
And the babysitter (friend of another babymom) raises the child
and the child is missing...........
is there any explanation why women do this???

The only thing missing from this article is the reason why TH's older son went to live with the grandparents. I was shocked about the restraining order against KH, BTW.

I don't find it shocking. DY didn't want KH to take Kyron. It doesn't look as though there were any accusations of abuse.

YES---this article explains A LOT. Not surprising though. With so many divorces, you have to suspect something went off-kilter along the way.

THANK YOU MATOU!! YES--why in the world does Terri's son live with his grandparents?? I've been asking that question for the last week or so.

So Kaine had a restraining order. He was a flight risk with the kids?? Jeez. That does not look good.

And if Kristian was abused by his grandfather and therefore the Horman family has a history of sex abuse, this could explain a lot. Perhaps someone in that family took Kyron? What if Kyron knew too much about Kristian or another family member? What if he was a victim and was going to squeal? Once again, there are so many turns in this situation. Who really knows.

not totally OT but I could go here or there in regards to a restraining order. in my hometown Wayne County didnt have one problem in the world issuing ex parte orders to anyone who would ask for any reason at all.

Saw a great many people in the courtroom before an actual judge a week later. judge often removes them. why? cause FREQUENTLY spiteful women were using them as a punishment - stopping them from seeing the kids and not bothering to take it to family court where they would actually have to explain themselves and hmm, maybe have to allow visitation.

I still dont know enough about this case to have any real opinions so I am not saying anyone did something like this or what. just saying, it's not uncommon to do where I come from and in 7 years they managed to become the family they are now.

Does Kyron have more than one older brother? I only know of TMH's teen son, but this quote seems to indicate that he has more than one and that they are from the same branch of the family.

"He looks up to his big brothers and enjoys spending time with them, they dance and rock out in the living room."

Yes, 2goldfish, I understand what you mean. Women can be very spiteful in a custody situation. I have a cousin who's ex is a great example. We don't know for sure if Kaine was really at fault in that situation...

However, many women have good reason. And on that note, yet unrelated to Kaine, I should add that restraining orders are useless anyhow. We hear cases time and time again of women who HOURS after filing for a restraining order, are attacked or murdered by their abuser. If a person is going to hurt you, a piece of paper will not stop them. Most perps get a slap on the wrist if they violate their restraining order anyway.

Anywho, back to the Horman family...

Has anything been said about Terri's DUI in 2005?? If so, can anyone direct me to a post/thread? Thanks. I don't want to go off topic in the wrong area...

Something I do find odd about the restraining order...from what I understand, around here, a restraining order is used to prevent further (alleged) abuse (we all know how well that works). It's not something used to prevent a parent taking a child. Around here, if there is no custody order you are pretty much screwed until you can get to see a judge.

Has anyone seen the actual documents WW is talking about?

TM's 16 year old son is not technically a brother to Kyron except by marriage...this is the brady bunch aspect of all of this to me. D's older son is Kyron's bio brother-Whose older son lives with grandparents?? D's or TM's??

I am on the fence about the RO-she thought he was either going to take the children away somewhere or perhaps have them taken away-I would want to see the doc as well.

REMINDER:

We need to discuss what has been released in these articles ONLY. We are not sleuthing this family. We can discuss speculation as to how these events led to Kyron's disappearance. I'd better not see any posts here about something new that our members dug up. We are not into gossip here.
:nono:

Everyone has been posting responsibly so far. Because of the new article, I wrote this reminder.

After reading the info in the WW today, it offers up a lot of info on the family. Being a past sexual abuse victim that happened in my childhood home - I can see a lot of stuff coming to light! I think we will find that whatever happened to Kyron was done by a perp he most likely knew. For all we know this child has been groomed since day one.

A small child is EASILY molested if it starts young enough. It's almost like they mastermind you into doing anything they want. Then they buy your silence with whatever it takes. I was so brain washed that I didn't tell anyone until I was 21 years old. It happened from age 4 until 12 and the reason it stopped is because my mom finally divorced the perpetrator. He was a pedophile that was allowed to move around because everyone had kept silent. To this day (he is dead now) nobody knows how many kids he actually molested. He did molest one other sister in our family. Neither one of us were his BIOLOGICAL children and he made it known to me that he didn't molest my sister who was 2 years younger than I because he was her father and not mine. It wasn't until after the divorce and my sister who is 8 years younger than I began to show signs of being molested. When I asked she confirmed it and we have learned a ton about the dirty laundry in our family.

Kyron appears to be a perfect kid to target. If you look at it in this angle it would explain why all the secrecy of the LE, the family, etc. They know more than they are sharing. No helping on the search...

Does anyone else see a different picture with this article being released? It makes me think that our astro's really are on to something with his charts... Did they have the info from this article when they did his charts?

As soon as I heard about the uncle, I suspected. Being a survivor, I know the pervasive/secret nature of abuse and its propensity to move downward thru the generations. This results sometimes in victims becoming perpetrators. (Please note, I say sometimes) I am not saying all victims then victimize. I certainly do not. But I am not at all surprised that there may be a history of sexual abuse in the family. Sadly, it is not as unusual as we would like to think.

Playing devils advocate here, before I say there is sexual abuse by grandpa upon uncle I will need something other than a child molesters word. I want to be careful before I begin vilifying grandpa based on the limited info available. It seems a bit self serving how grandpa was offerred up by the uncle almost as an excuse for his behavior and I would hate to make false assumptions about a man on that alone.

Take all of the above with a grain of salt. I do know that I think the uncle has nothing to do with Kyron's disappearance.

With this new line of speculation I am not sure of what I think. But IF there is a history of sexual abuse in the family, uncle may not be the only one of this generation to be acting out and carrying on the dirty little family tradition. This could be something major. Or it could be nothing at all.

ETA I am copying this post over to the thread pertaining to the uncle as the topic is under discussion there and it seems the more approriate thread. Thanks for your thoughts all.

You can obtain a restraining order and then have it thrown out at a later date by the judge if not enough evidence was shown to have it or it is contested. It doesn't say if the restraining order was held or not - just that one was obtained.

As a small child I was taught not tell 911 who was trying to take us, etc. When a restraining order is involved you lie and tell them you don't know who the person is otherwise nobody will do a thing. Did I explain that well enough? LOL

Thank you for putting in the word "sometimes". I forget about the statistics on that and never even think about it.

This new article just bolsters my curiosity as to Kyron's demeanor and behavior the week before that Friday. Was he his normal happy self? Was he "sad", nervous, worried, - any changes in his normal behavior?

  • #157
I think it is a leap to speculate that Kyron was a victim of any kind of abuse. A fair question maybe, but a big leap. TBH, I am not sure how I feel about this news source-it seems some what sensational to me...and I am curious about the need to name all the minor children regardless of whether or not they have any association with the disappearance of this precious boy. Also, where is the grandfather? Where are other family members who were around him a lot and could have also been abused? Did any of them have access to Kyron?

I wonder if SM's older son had also been abused by Kristian at some point through these years. I wonder if perhaps Kaine and SM had reason to then be concerned about older step brother being around Kyron, and that is why older step brother went to live with grandparents.

This too...I wonder about any teenage possible victims/perpetrators in the family, who may have blended in easier at the school.

Remember, we aren't sleuthing family members here. These questions will remain unanswered unless another article comes out. Just an FYI.

Nobody would have an answer to them. We don't even know which grandfather. Remember, they were adopted. So we are dealing with two bio grandfathers and two adoptive grandfathers, I would assume.

These are just the questions that I would be asking and expanded on the previous questions mentioned.

I can't even sleuth my cousin's own cold case... I'm not sleuthing anyone else. I leave that up to everyone else.
