It was interesting to read that Kaine was encouraged to move to another location with the baby. I wonder if that is for the safety of the child and people like this coming to the door or what?

Then again this is a "friends report" information and LE would not confirm so as always who knows?

I also laughed at the "Welcome to the nuthouse" sign.

*snipped*

I loved the "Welcome to the Nuthouse" sign! Where do I get one?!

Exactly.

This "reporter" (and I use the term very loosely) needs to back the hell off. He is clearly unable to set aside his personal feelings and theories about this case. His employer is risking their reputation, such as it is, by allowing him to continue down this path. WW would be wise to suggest he go participate on one of the many sites dissecting Terri and leave reporting of facts (of which he's done little) to the professionals.

I'm not sure what this reporter's article has to do with the rumors the poster you were responding to was refuting. And by the way, James Pitkin, IS a real reporter. What *are* his personal feelings and theories? How can you tell what they are? Do you mind sharing what they are?

I don't know why people are picking on him when there are people in this forum asking for information about the school, the house, the road, little details. He went there looking for a story. He came back with bupkis, but what he did write gives a little bit of insight ... things like how secluded and modest their home is, how Terri cares for her child, and how she isn't rude or deluded, etc. He was not unprofessional. Reporters are supposed to look for stories; that's their job. He didn't say anything negative about Terri or her home, by the way.

Not sure why this guy is being criticized.

sorry!!

Friends of the Horman family told FOX 12 that police encouraged Kaine Horman to take the couple's 18-month-old daughter and stay at a different location. Investigators would not confirm that information Monday.
Could also be read that they encouraged all of them to move which would make the most sense

I think the article is somewhat telling depending on how it's taken. I'd think you would want to answer the door to anyone if a child was missing just in case it was news. Maybe to only talk through the screen or glass though. It could be telling that someone with one missing child would let the other run around outside and get a distance away with a stranger there speaking to you instead of holding the baby. That could also indicate exhaustion and worry. The reason for the unmown grass could have been said to be from not keeping up the yard this past month, but it was due to being hard to maintain the property instead. However, the reporter didn't describe how high the grass was either, but must have thought there was something odd about that round spot to ask.

This is such a non-article. I think WW is really reaching for news. The cost of their house, the remoteness, the name of their minor daughter...none of this is particularly newsworthy, nor is it really something that the public needs to know.

I'm a bit disgusted with WW and their continuous "unnamed" sources doing little more than muckraking.

From the same article Jetaime posted, same link:

After Kyron’s biological parents gave a series of TV interviews two days later, on June 25, I returned to Sheltered Nook Road today hoping Horman might have reconsidered talking to a reporter. Again there was a TV cameraman.

But one thing had changed in the five days since my first visit. Today there were four signs posted along the driveway in bright orange letters, warning visitors to stay away.

The gate was open, but I did as the signs said and kept out.

"Her father, Larry Moulton, is visiting Terri Horman and staying at her northwest Portland house to give her support. He confirmed that Terri Horman's 18-month-old daughter was staying away from the house at a separate location.

"It's a very difficult time and I'm just here to support my daughter," Moulton said. "We'll leave it at that."

Hmmm....so Kaine and baby leave for an undisclosed location and TH is at the house with her dad. Interesting. I wonder why TH didn't go with Kaine and baby?

I agree. And now the world has a fairly detailed description of how remote and isolated her home is---complete with photos. :furious:

This was common knowledge to anyone who had watched a bird's eye video of the Horman home (shown on television), and also anyone who has access to Google maps.

IDK, if my child was missing I think I would talk to anyone.

He states in the article: during our coverage of this story we went to the Horman's house, so he must have had someone else with him, maybe a photographer. And he states he identified himself as a reporter when Terri answered the door, so maybe he had press credentials and showed her a photo ID. We don't know.

I used to date a photographer who worked for a major wire service. He was allowed to obtain extra press passes for various events (not all mind you) for visitors he would bring along; I think I may still have one buried around here somewhere. Point is, I have never worked in the media in any capacity. But I had "credentials" that someone not intimately familiar with the business would have considered legitimate press ID.

Boy, it's hard not to look at that without going :waitasec:. To split up the family in a living situation seems odd to me. They could hire a house sitter to watch the property, don't you think?

But why would the police tell the family to move? What circumstances would prompt such a suggestion? It is not typical for people to move out of their homes (temporarily or permanently) because their child got lost in the woods or was kidnapped from another location.

I wouldn't have opened the door no matter what his credentials said. And mostly definitely not with my 18 month old daughter in tow. I'm glad her dad came to stay with her and that the baby is now somewhere else. Seems like the safest thing.

But if you look at it, it doesn't really say that KWIM? It is written in such a way as to imply it, but that could be sensationalizing the story.

Terri is still there. Kaine left with the baby.

My My so odd. Is that the grandfather {Kyron's} who was quoted in the one People's article?
