2010.07.01 Cheney Takes on Another Major Case - Jim Greer

This is gonna be goooooooooood!!! JB on his own??? Oh, the posts will fly!

He can't be on his own, he's not death penalty qualified. Maybe they will get a carboard cut-out of Cheney and put it in the chair, and let JB go it alone, LOL.

Maybe that is the reason CM is overloading with new clients,
DELAY, DELAY, DELAY.
Maybe it is the only way they can achieve that tactic with JP moving things right along. It will be the courts fault for the delay. Of course their client CMA is innocent and wants to get of jail and get going on her travels in that big ole motor home. I would imagine she would be mad to be kept from her plans longer than necessary. And the pressure they must feel from the A's too, they want to get CMA out so she can get their foundation going with the help of The Mother of the year title.

I can't imagine HHJP would delay the start of KC's trial because CM was too busy tending to cases he took on AFTER he joined KC's defense team.....

You are spot on Snaz and Mr. Mason and his hubris were set straight about that at the most recent status hearing. Love this judge, he is the one to watch for the law students following the case.

One Of Casey's Attorneys Takes On Another High-Profile Case

http://www.wftv.com/news/26486686/detail.html
The legendary local attorney who took on Casey Anthony's case is now taking on a second high-profile death penalty case. J. Cheney Mason is now defending Isaac Burt, who's accused of killing his girlfriend's toddler in Oviedo.

Mason has represented the accused for 40 years and now, as if the national spotlight on the Casey Anthony trial weren't enough, he's taken on another high profile, high stakes case, the Oviedo man accused of murdering his girlfriend's daughter, 3-year-old Faith Jackson, in November.

Well, this will sure cut down on the hours he spends on KC's case, won't it? So 3 high profile cases in the last year - I thought he was going to retire? I don't know how I feel about the fact that 2 of his 3 clients live in my town.

What the heck is going on - did CM squander his retirement fund or something?

Apparently he feels he may need some sanction funds in reserve. jmo

Just saw this on WFTV. Just what Cheney needs - another case that will take time away from Casey's, where he STILL doesn't know all of the discovery!!!!

I thought that this was interesting:
<Burt needed a new attorney after his public defender withdrew, citing the defendant's $5,000 a month income; it's an income too high for taxpayers to continue covering his legal bills.>

Well ... either CM has the ICA case all packaged and tied up with a neat red bow (don't think so) or this is a tactic to excuse himself and delay the ICA trial even further since his schedule is full and he doesn't have enough time?

It reminds me of when HHJP wanted to schedule the next hearing and was providing CM the windows he was open and CM was pushing back on his availability.

CM is either trying to block out his calendar or avoid having to appear with JB alongside.

Which case did he sign onto first?

I think he want's to be too busy to answer his phone calls. (for the next year or so.)

Ann Finnell must be angry over this, because that effectively leaves her holding the bag if he bails ....what in the world? This is a nightmare for Casey Anthony's case, just when we didn't think things could get any worse. WOW, WOW, WOW. Cheney Mason hardly ever has the facts of the case straight as it is...how he is going to take on more work and get caught up on hers? WOW, WOW WOW!!!

Casey Anthony, then Jim Greer

Then I can see HHJP telling him to stick with his original client and let the new one go if it's too much to handle...

I agree. That's why CM calls these cases fun, his mission is to just dabble in them and add his 'trade' name and his old boy network ... not do real work.

I think his 'trade' name is devalued on the market though.....
