Hmm, so Baez continues to innefectively defend Casey imo, filing stupid motions and breaking the rules, where does this leave justice for Caylee? Can intentional incompetence become grounds for a mistrial or appeal and can the path Baez is travelling ie emerging questionable personal fiscal dealings see him disbarred? Would the rest of team Casey be able to represent her without him? Im growing concerned that the circus this has become is going to impede and prolong the trial.

IIRC it seems that ICA believes that JB promised her a mistrial ....

We are not there yet but this may be both practice as well as desperately trying to plant some grounds for future appeal. The Defense cannot win by conventional means so are trying everything else.

This is what escapes me too. I'm trying to find the logic in it. Maybe this just isn't logical and that's what's trippin me up. Sometimes I wonder if he wanted to bring more attention to it and therefore decided to ask for a protective order but then didn't fight too hard to get it so it would be released, thereby bringing more attention to it and the claims of RL.
But then again, maybe we need to actually hear the tape to really see what all the fuss was about.

I'm just speculating that there may have been another (unrecorded) call based on: (1) JB's panicky reaction to the proposed release of his calls with RL, which seems odd if the calls were unremarkable, and (2) his strong suggestion in the motion that he thought RL had successfully made an unrecorded call to him.

"For about two years Jose Baez has been walking an ethical tightrope in the way he's handled this case and the representations he's made. What we are seeing is Jose Baez being knocked off the tightrope he's been walking.
The State was as diplomatic as they could be without calling him an outright liar."
He also says that Baez has damaged his credibility with HHJP by making the claim that he didn't know the call was being recorded.

I'll never understand why JB would risk so much by outright lying (i.e., what little credibility he might have had with Judge Perry) for such an inconsequential phone call from a jailhouse snitch. Beyond stupid, imo.

I don't know if he wants off the defence team or not .Maybe he thinks he is going to win and will make his pot of gold off Caylee after it's all over .And he can ride off into the sunset with his blood money .This case is so confusing .I just want to pull my hair out sometimes .

I believe the recording(s) will go through Discovery - released to the Defense first.
Then get published to the public through Sunshine Laws, in an upcoming document release.
Since Judge Perry just denied JB's Motion to seal it - the release to the public would be some time later.

It still amazes me that JB admits knowledge of Inmates using contraband cell phones, yet has no concern about participating in phone calls in which this is a distinct possibility in his mind!!! And he KNEW that Inmate Lunceford was doing something she was not allowed to do, yet he willingly participated. He knew that the ex-inmate friend of Lunceford called him first, to set up the illegal call which happened next, within minutes. So, he was ever so willing to participate in shady (illegal) activities, he was just hoping they would not get caught at it. In my opinion.

Perhaps that might be the whole point of trying to get the phone call tossed. It isn't the first time JB has went up against the Florida Bar association. Just because they haven't nailed him yet for participating in anything illegal or unethical.. doesn't mean they aren't taking note of his extremely high profile antics. For all we know...the grapevine could be telling him to watch his buns because eyes are upon him. I would think that if anything could get him panicky.. it's the thought of adding more risk to losing his license.

I don't think he gives 2 wits and hoot about his law degree and license, and personally, I don't think he has for a very long time.

He has his ONE case that has/had put him on the map, and, he wants to go to to bigger and better things.
A TV show, all his own, with TeleMundo or something.

He thinks that he has Geraldo in his back pocket, he is kissing up to Jane Valez-Mitchell every chance he gets, and talking to every media outlet that shoves a microphone in his face.
EVEN channel 9 and he clearly hates Kathi B, yet, knows that SHE has been his best publicist at no cost; which he cleary and dearly loves.

I just don't get it. He fights a call where it's the other person ranting and it's not embarrassing to him. He says he doesn't remember hearing that recording when it's obvious HE pressed the dang 1 button from the menu. He seriously did a motion, lied in it, and the evidence was on the dang tape itself?

There was more than one call. Someone called to inform JB that Lunceford was trying to contact him and would call again. Unclear to me who it was. I read one report that said an ex-inmate called and another that said she or the person.

If this all was recorded as part of an ongoing investigation, that would explain more than one recording.
