Could somebody please tell me why communicating devices are allowed in a court room even by attonery's?

Last year we went to a court room and no metal was allowed what-so-ever.

I cannot tell you how livid this makes me. I just hope in the end we will see at the very least that ICA is in prison for the rest of her life.

ETA:
Why are people allowed to come and go as they please while the hearing is in session?

With all the security in that court room you'd think they would handle a tight ship.

LOL have you ever been in a court room? You have the freedom to come and go as you please.....if you are disruptive, the judge can ask you to leave or the baliff.

Thanks for the first hand update, Amil. We noticed the texting on camera, as we see them do often during these hearings. Someone should call the judge's attention to it. Anyone care to write to the judge? Your name and address will be public record, of course.

I guess Mallory didn't read the judge's courtroom rules about dressing appropriately. :shakehead:

Thanks for the in-person summary.
Mallory and CA were both chewing something, gum or a mint. I guess the rules don't apply to them.

I agree, since when is texting okay in court? Seems very in appropriate. Maybe in the hearings its allowed, I certainly hope when this goes to trial that they keep cell phones OUT of the court room.

IMO

It makes me livid too. I don't understand why they are so lax about enforcing the rules. Cellphones, gum, people whispering to each other in the gallery, people going in and out, it all irks me. I'm hoping the reason it's happening is these are hearings and during the actual trial it will be much more strict.

ETA: Is all of this as distracting to those of you in the courtroom as it is to us watching the video?

SURE WOULD MAKE A GREAT STORY FOR KB!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone got her ear?

i too attended the 4 hour hearing all the way till the end. i did hear lee say hi mom. he gave her a hug. i did not see any hugs or talk between lee and george. no rubbing of georges back by cindy but i did see brad rub cindys and shoulder pats by him. saw george smile and talk to cindy once during hearing. i was shocked to see mallory in shorts and rubber sandels. picnic attire. she was dressed with no respect for court i felt. . she also was chewing gum. lots of silent moments in court room as sidebars.

i cringed when i heard decaying rotting flesh being said. so much for dead body smell.

casey almost looked pretty. her hair grew and was curled and nice pink shirt. it was a long hearing and parking cost me 12 bucks.

Thank you Amil, that was very interesting.
This texting thing seems wrong on so many levels, I think Judge Perry should know what is going on in his courtroom.
There should be a rule that all cell phones should be turned off and put in one's pocket or purse and not allowed to be used..... Too much room for hanky panky.

Actually I think this is the rule! Don't know why they got away with having their phones all over the place.

Wow-nothing surprises me about these people. Didn't Casey accuse Lee of molesting her? But I love you's were shared during court. Weird!~

This wasnt directed to me, but since I sat across from them, I can offer something. There was no affection or support from GA to CA. At one point CA was patting his knee and he just kept his arms crossed. At another point, his body was angled away from her. Interesting body language. He did not want to be there.

Thanks CentralFLMama..............I had the feeling that George didn't want to be there today. He looked very sad and to himself most of the time. The only time I saw him smile was when someone outside the family greeted him. I bet the only reason he was there today was because Cindy demanded his presence. It will be interesting to see if he attends future court sessions, or if this was a one-time thing.

In recent months, the relationship between George and Cindy seems to be one of indifference.

I truly cannot fathom the blatant texting in that courtroom. My judge only allows the attorneys to bring in their phones (and that has only been recently) but I can tell you, if they were to whip them out and start texting, she would quickly make them lose those phones. They are only allowed to use them outside the courtroom (in the hallway) to communicate with their offices or clients. NOT EACH OTHER IN THE COURTROOM. :furious::furious::furious:

What was up with that boss of Cindy's? She was weird on the stand. Was anything said about her being so late? The judge seemed really annoyed when he found out she wasn't there on time.
At least she dressed appropriately.

I agree - also saw NO interaction between father and son .... NONE!

I was also at the hearing today for the full time. (Yep, cost me $12 for parking, too!). What I saw before court was that George exited the elevator on the courtroom’s floor- alone. Cindy arrived later. During the proceedings, I sat directly behind the A’s and saw very little interaction. However, there was some small whispering at the beginning between the family members. Even though I was so close, unfortunately, I could not make out anything that they actually did whisper.
I think the most striking thing to me was after Cindy returned to the gallery after her testimony, Mallory put her arm around Cindy and gave her a large cheek kiss, and spent time patting her on the back. Which says to me that there isn’t a distance between Lee and the parents.

I know that rules are strictly enforced here in California, at least where I live. We were at a custody hearing and the judge told our soon-to-be-ex-son-in-law, to remove his gum and sunglasses. That same day we saw the judge tell another man to leave his courtroom and don't come back until he was properly attired (the man had shorts and sandals on). And before beginning to hear cases that day, the judge said that all cell phones were to be turned off.

I am in the ultimate conservative town in US of A. And the bailiff would not allow you entrance into the court wearing short shorts or low cleavage tops. Books, handheld games, iPods/cell phones anything you carry to distract you while waiting your name to be called doesn't even make it past the security check. Attorneys all have their phones off while in the court room. I have witnessed the Judges requesting defendants to go change their clothes and return before a certain time or they are issued a bench warrant. I have witnessed the bailiffs taking trash cans around the room prior to the judges entrance and telling people to trash their gum or anything else in their mouths.

George wore a pouty face while CA and LA testified. During Lee's testimony, CA had moved back between GA and Mallory. CA had her hand on top of his leg as they listened to LA. When LA testified, KC's reaction at first was to burst into tears. Her nose was red and I think it was a genuine cry. Soon after that and during his testimony she scribbled like mad on her tablet and was over the emotions.

I also noticed after Casey's emotional outburst upon first seeing Lee that she was furiously scribbling on her pad and passing notes to CM & JB. Wouldn't it be something if Casey is claiming to her 'boys' that Lee is creepy and she is afraid of him for molesting her, hence, her emotional outburst? It would make his "I love you" seem especially sinister if so. He better watch out that he doesn't get thrown under the bus!

Regarding that furious note writing - ICA was livid at one point when Lee was testifying. I don't think she likes hearing the sordid story recited in court.

jmo

Other than Lee's mouthed "I love you" to ICA...I saw no interaction between anyone...GA and CA, CA and ICA, CA and her boss....weird...can you imagine.?

Now there's an interesting idea!
It would be karma if Lee's "I LOVE YOU" to his sister was SARCASTIC in intent!
A sarcastic jab at his sister for what she accused him of.
Who knows with these weirdos!

It amazes me that anyone would be admitted into a court room with electronic devices period. In my neck of the woods, even if you are reporting for jury duty, you have to go through a metal detector, and surrender cell phones, ipods, etc. I sure like the Sunshine Law, but maybe Florida has a long way to go regarding restriction of communication devices in the court room.

Who is to say that someone can't eavesdrop on the judges chamber, or even get details of sidebar convos with proper equipment? Wouldn't that make a huge mess during the trial!

I would not be at all surprised to learn that Cindy and George are not residing in the same home ....
Just sayin ....
