I'm catching up and reread our postings from yesterday.
Now I see that I misinterpreted what Ginette said - she said that Luke 'worked for the feds'. Somehow I thought she said he worked for the Department of Defense.

Here's my question though, if one is a civilian working for a company that developes defense related equipment, does that mean the employee is working for the feds?
I don't think of it that way.

Anyway, thanks Steely Dan for pointing this out. I agree that Northrop G would not like to here their employees describe themselves as working for the feds.

I worked for a place where some people had DOD clearance. I don't think a single one of them would have told you they worked for the feds. I also don't think they'd bring it up in conversation, ever.

Yes I just asked my husband his opinion too. He said technically speaking some companies have contracts with the government and if you work for that company, in a distant way you are working for the government too. But he said that you would never say 'I work for the feds'. He said if you have knowledge of anything (depending on your position) you would never discuss that casually or introduce yourself that way. Luke got fired, if he really worked there, for saying that as it implied he would use resources recreationally that he had due to his job which would be a huge no-no.

BBM - Just a thought, but perhaps the company gave him six more months on the payroll? I don't think you get a severance package when you "quit" a job, only when you're fired or laid off, but sometimes a company will keep a person who was forced to resign, on the payroll a few months in compensation. Maybe? I don't know, just throwing an idea out.

True but when you breach trust they usually just fire you. But you may be right that there is some kind of contractual thing if they weren't going to prosecute him but just didn't want the likes of him anymore. Now he's probably being investigated from a different angle altogether.

Still I doubt they'd keep him around so he's fudging no matter what. That is if he ever really worked there.

DH is a DOD employee. If Luke used govt. computers to access satellite maps on the job over the secure network... it's a BIG no-no for someone with the kind of security clearance he had.

He can only blame himself for being caught.

I'm a govt employee. One without any special security clearance. If I use my work related software for anything other than my actual job, the feds are on me like flies. Not only do I get fired, I get arrested.

My husband had much the same type of job as LP. He always phrased it that he "worked for a government contractor." (He did contract work for DoD, CIA, NRC, National Mapping Agency, etc ~ that's why he just said "government.") But it did necessitate having a government security clearance. The "feds" aren't issuing the paycheck but the contract with them is providing the money for it. Does that help?

I found it interesting that his longest job was only 4 years, doesn't imply he's very stable, but then again rehab therapists- P.T., O.T., & S.T. change jobs frequently because of company/hospital merges, contracts, moving around and such...

That's no big deal when you work for government contractors. The contracts usually only last 3 - 5 years and then go out for bids again. Quite frequently the new contractor who wins the bid hires people from the old contract. So, as an employee you are still doing the same job at the same place but for another company. We government contractors make jokes about changing badges all the time but the job stays the same.

I wish I remembered when I first saw the photo of the white car hidden under the tree canopy ( On Suburban?). When I first saw it, I was visiting a different forum, and the consensus was it was bogus. But, now with this Luke and his govt' clearance abilities, maybe DC or ? had him look up the dates under question. Was this around Oct or Nov of 08? Does anyone remember?

Anyone think DC may have been searching those woods for alot longer than before Nov 15, 16? George is spotted staring into a wooded area Oct 30th and then again on Nov 4th.

I think they had the woods on their mind for quite some time...and when CA gets something in her mind.. she pushes. I bet she had DC scouring the woods for the body and there were plans to move it while KC was in jail so she would look innocent. I think she had DC wrapped around her lil finger.

You are sooo right about the shady characters whom the A's have chosen to surround themselves with! And CA would have us all believe that it is LE, TM, and the FBI who are being dishonest! Give me a break!

ETA: You have to wonder why J. Allen would go all the way to Virginia just because of the statements Luke made in the emails which they did not have at the time. So did someone turn Luke in???

I don't see the black bra on that car, do you? It's hard to see the car clearly but I guess it could be possible it's the Pontiac.
