2010.08.16 Misty Croslin Scheduled For Hearing On Drug Charges

On the seventh anniversary of Haleigh Cummings' birth … stood before a judge to face a drug trafficking charge, then her attorney gave new details from the night Cummings was abducted. According to our news partner the Florida Times-Union, attorney Robert Fields said Croslin heard the attack happening while cowering under a sheet as someone came into the mobile home and took the girl. The TU reported Croslin heard Haleigh screaming as she was taken from her room. Fields told the TU Haleigh was a "substitute" for a gun that one of Croslin's relatives had been looking for in the home.

(If we are to believe this; did she ever tell RC this? There’s no way in heck RC would let this person remain alive today if this is in fact the truth of what actually happened that evening/morning! :snooty:
If Misty only "heard" the above, there is no way she would definitely know "who" abducted the child; and her cousin's involvement would be her best guess. JMO)

Haleigh was born at 2:17 a.m. Aug. 17, 2003. Her mother, Crystal Sheffield, was in court this morning, saying she wanted to see Croslin's face on her daughter's birthday. She also said she believes Croslin is responsible for Haleigh's disappearance. Tearing up as she spoke, she said, "Happy birthday, Haleigh, wherever you are."
Sheffield said she believes her daughter is still alive.

I would think that Crystal would've heard through Jr., a pretty good account of what happened that night. So, if she's willing to point her finger at Misty, she's probably right.

So, based on what MC's attorney has said we can think an arrest is imminent? Isn't this the information they have been waiting on? The 'key' information from MC? Come on guys!!!!!!!!what's the hold up now?

I don't know where to post this, I chose here because the info. I am referring to came from media reports surrounding Misty's recent court appearances.

Why, today of all days, Haleigh's birthday, does the media have to run the awful story these liars are telling? Fields should have never opened his mouth yesterday. Of course the media didn't run the story yesterday, they did it today! People on forums are taking this story as the truth and wondering why LE hasn't acted on the information and went after Joe.
And they don't print that in so many words Misty and Tommy both recanted the Joe story in a jailhouse call to their relative! Don't these people have any respect or common decency for a 5 yr. old missing little girl named Haleigh? I guess not, sorry for the rant but I am so furious right now!

If MC was cowering under the sheets, how would she have seen JO but HC in a black bag?

I'll be ok with Misty living with the consequences of her choices, if Ronald has to do the same. He hasn't been made to, in the past, so we'll see. If he had been in prison, where he belonged, none of this would've happened. ironic, isn't it? I hope the judge makes that point, & throws the book at him. no more 'get out of jail free' cards for Ron.

This was such a good post I just wanted to put it out there again....

ah sorry I feel no pitty for Misty or ANY of these other players.

Just because you have a hard childhood etc does not give you a right to go out and sell drugs. Drugs that can KILL children ( and that MAY of cost lil Haleighs life)

Listen I had a hard childhood.. I didn't finish past 7/8th grade in school. I was abused my whole life and aged out of foster care. I had NO ONE . BUt I MADE a life for myself. I chose not to do drugs ( when it was all around me) I made the choice not to be abusive( when it was all I had known). I made the choice to break the cycle of abuse when others would not.

I am sorry I really am but I am sick and tired of excuses being given to people because of their past. WE ALL have choices. The fact is she IS a adult at 18 and at 18 she DOES know better. She was adult enough to get married , adult enough to sell drugs ( including one sale that was going near a school) Then she can be adult enough to pay the price. Drugs is a majior problem in this world and one that takes peoples lives everyday I am glad to see a court taking it serious.

BTW yes I did dumb things but I didn't do anything that could cost someone their life or put a life of another person at risk.

Bravo, Bravo,Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo, Bravo:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Misty's story is as full of holes, as Tommy's. no wonder LE isn't buying it. But no matter what happened, I'll never believe that Misty went back to that trailer, with the intention of murdering Haleigh... so what does this mean? Is she covering for herself? Tommy? Is Joe just a convenient scapegoat? What in God's name, happened to that child? I can't fathom Misty & Tommy being in cahoots in a child's murder, so, one has to be covering for the other's actual deed, & his/her own participation in the cover-up. Is this story, close to the truth? minus Joe being the perp? minus Misty hiding under the covers? If Jr. heard squeaky shoes, saw a man in black, saw a bouncing couch...then he would know what Misty did/didn't do.

This is the media release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office:

Date: August 17, 2010

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous requests for an official comment regarding a statement made earlier today by Attorney Robert Fields. For those outlets not aware, Attorney Fields is legal counsel for Misty Croslin.

Attorney Fields made a statement to media outlets that after Misty Croslin’s arrest, she informed investigators what happened the night Haleigh Cummings went missing, and what happened to Haleigh Cummings.

Since the onset of this investigation, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has been asked to comment on information obtained during the investigation. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has always taken the firm stance that any information obtained in this case is not to be released, and any investigative strategies will not be discussed. The Haleigh Cummings investigation is far too important to be jeopardized by releasing this type of sensitive information.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office will not be participating in any formal interviews or providing statements regarding this morning’s events at this time. The main concern of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is finding Haleigh Cummings and returning her home to her family.

Here's another link with a different variation of what happened to Haleigh. I just found it posted today.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=163441&catid=3

The next question is: How was he pushing, shoving and groping her sexually while holding Haleigh in a black bag and remember she was hiding under the covers for a full seven minutes while all of this is going on. Did he also hold a weapon on her? It doesn't say that here. It gets stranger each time they tell it. Try and match this up with ToC's story. What a cluster duck.

Soooo....in other words....no comment. :banghead::banghead:

Misty's story makes complete sense...NOT

Joe stealing Ron's illegal gun...risk of prison time....zero. Ron is not going to report to LE that he was in possession of an illegal gun that someone stole.

Joe not able to steal the gun so steals/kills Haleigh....risk of death penalty. LE will find out about Haleigh.

No way....Joe is not going to commit a crime that best case scenerio life in prison...worst case...death.....all hinged on his drug addicted cousins keeping quiet just because he was upset he could not steal a gun.

When it was first "reported" in the news about cousin Joe....why no rat's in the mailbox...why nothing to scare them into staying quiet?

If Misty is still sticking to that story, she is begging the prosecutor to throw the book at her.

I could not agree with you more! If Joe was capable of doing such a thing, he would have killed Misty and anyone else who was there, IMO. He would not assume they would keep quiet forever.

And the damage these people have caused to their chances of leniency on the drug charges just keeps mounting. Every lie that is told--whether it comes directly from them, or is relayed by a family member or an attorney--does nothing but dig their hole deeper, IMO.

I just think it's ridiculous that they are getting 15 years from that one drug deal. I live in Canada and rapists don't even get that amount of time in jail. They were stupid, dumb and didn't care but 15 years!?? Here they would have got 3 years tops for that one drug bust. Really, should they all occupy cells for 15 years for buying/selling some pills to some undercover cop?? Seems a bit harsh to me. Yeah yeah, drug dealers are bad but really was Misty dealing that much? To lock her away for 15 years is just a waste. A joke.

IMO it's a crime.:twocents:

Maybe Misty didn't get the memo that this scenario didn't work out so well for Tommy.

MISTY JANETTE CROSLIN SENTENCING RESET TO 10-04-2010 @ 1:30 PM

Details: http://www.putnam-fl.com/clk_apps/crim_dkts/frame.php

UCN: 542010CF000138XXAXMX
File Date: 01/21/2010
Judge: TERRY J LARUE
Case Status: SENTENCING
Defense Atty: FIELDS, ROBERT M
Case File Location: CRIMINAL DIVISION

Defendant: CUMMINGS, MISTY JANETTE
Alias: CROSLIN, MISTY JANETTE

After reading different threads today, and realizing in most of them that the biggest problem underlying each is that`the truth/facts are minimal at best. Then it occurred to me that one reason that they might have had Misty take so many poly's is that they know she is lying, but with each poly, they might be asking some of the same questions that she actually answers honestly, thus being able to piece snippets of "truth/fact" together . .

I agree with you concerning these long sentences. I live in Florida and I had no idea this was going on. Misty just turned 18 she's a first time caught offender. I'm in no way defending their drug selling, but the punishment should fit the crime.

I do not expect Misty to get a 15-year sentence. I believe she is looking at either:

1. 25 years mandatory minimum, or

2. Youthful Offender status granted, sentence of up to 6 years in boot camp.

IMO, Misty would not be able to successfully complete 6 years in boot camp so her only chance of survival IMO is if the judge puts her there for considerably less time.

Whatever happens, it would be great if Misty were incarcerated long enough to get her GED and learn some occupational skills. Misty will not succeed once she is on the outside if she does not have some direction in her life by the time she is released, IMO.
