Part of the problem I think is that attorneys seem to believe they are saving the world, fighting the good fight, like Mason said "helping the poor", etc, as if they are to be lauded as defenders of truth and justice. Of course not all are that way...but you can hardly see an ad (why are they advertising anyway?) without all the symbolism - the scales of justice, lady justice, the noble symbols like some coat of arms from thousands of years ago, meant to imply that we mere mortals are witnessing an age old tradition, far above our understanding and position in life - and therefore we should be intimidated and in awe of these amazing people we call lawyers.

Maybe if they didn't put that image out there and always seem to try to impart some mystical element to what they do, which is largely game playing and manipulation, people wouldn't try to see them in black and white terms? I don't know - I just wish that society would have the same fascination with people who do real good on a daily basis.

The words on Mr Baez's website,

right under 'The Baez Lawfirm'

'where justice begins'

LOL!

Most defense attorneys don't care about justice. They care about getting their clients off, guilty or not.

Mark can write about ths case as his opinion and legal too as he would not have anything to do with KCs case. He was Georges attorney I believe and not Cindy and Lees/ media attorney and not for anything else.

Thanks, if he overheard a conversation with KC and Baez, for instance, could he write about that? If he knew that CA lied to police about knowing where the body was could he write about that? :waitasec:

Somewhere along the lines I remember heresay that Cindy was going to give LE the dogs brush (no link). Instead she picked up a brush that both Caysey and Caylee used. She never went into her bathroom to get the brush used solely by Caylee. WHY?

Here's the e-mail:

ETA: IMHO, CA was sure covering something. The part where she says "I trusted you so much, I let you speak to Casey". Is that controlling or what?

I'm curious about the TM reference in that. :waitasec:

Hmmm, that's interesting. According to sunbiz.gov he had that fictitious name canceled back in 2009.

What the heck is that about? I'm not following - is it me and Monday?

It appears he requested the cancellation of the fictitious name which was Baez Law Firm P.A. . :waitasec:

It may just be nothing but a relatively harmless filing but it does bring up a lot of questions. :waitasec:

Here here, wellspoke ohio. Attorneys are not supposed to be heros. They are supposed to represent their clients. Sometimes very unpopular ones. Sometimes very guilty ones. I work for and with attorneys every day. Never yet seen one wearing a cape. Never yet met one who would want to. They just want to do their jobs.

Brad Conway officially has NO job involving this crime. He does not represent the defendent in this case and does not defend anyone that is charged with any crime. What the heck is trying to accomplish? He is in it for himself and any attention that he can get from this case.

Yea, fictitious, visionary...you know, like in the nanny.

Oh I see what you are saying - as a lawyer he specializes in fictitious things! Well no wonder he and ICA are getting along so well.

Could it be something as simple as changing the name from 'The Baez Law Firm, P.A.' to simply 'The Baez Law Firm'? His website does not include the P.A.

Well here is the Bar Rule regarding fictitious names, the problem is he canceled his fictitious name, yet continues to use it on his website and in court pleadings:

4-7.9 C

c) Advertising Under Trade Name. A lawyer shall not advertise under a trade or fictitious name, except that a lawyer who actually practices under a trade name as authorized by subdivision (b) may use that name in advertisements. A lawyer who advertises under a trade or fictitious name shall be in violation of this rule unless the same name is the law firm name that appears on the lawyer’s letterhead, business cards, office sign, and fee contracts, and appears with the lawyer’s signature on pleadings and other legal documents.

What does P.A. mean anyhow?

Tuned in half way thru...my impressions....
1. Brad knows KC is guilty
2. The Zanny the Nanny story is just that...a story. Will be used by prosecution to show KC's lies
3. Brad knows the A's like none of us do. He knows them as people, as a couple up close. He sees them as a hurting couple in horrendous circumstances. He allows Cindy her grief denial.
4. He recognizes their need for a lawyer. They could be charged in the future with obstruction of justice.
5. Ray Kronk is just a person who found the remains. Defense will not be able to pin anything on him.
6. After all the time he has put in with the A's, he is disappointed that Baez has not utilized him as part of the team. He is not impressed with Baez' defense of KC, neither are the A's.
7. While he did not disparage the A's in anyway, does not want to harm his reputation as a good lawyer, this man is longing to be free and speak what he really knows.
8. He deserves some time to go fishing.

BTW...how do we know the person who was banned (justice something) was Michelle Bart? I find that curious and funny!

Thank You All,
I spent the day at the beach with my family and I would like to thank you for your post and everyone else who posted...I am playing catch up now. :)

IMO.
I wonder just how long or how short a time Baez bought into the Zanny story before he learned that the Nanny Zanny stole my Baby story was a big fat lie?

IMO The Defense has a large task to get around Casey's written statement to LE about how Zanny took Caylee. That is where the TES records come in...and the "Caylee's body wasn't there at that time" theory they are trying so desperately to put together.

No.4 Has my interest piqued since it is coming from Conway...there was speculation that Lee would be in trouble because of the "he knows what he did" comment..but to hear it coming from the A's lawyer that he thinks they need a lawyer(IMO George needs one separate from Cindy) and that obstruction charges are a possibility int he future..

How many lawyers (locally) have been impressed with Baez's performance..I'd like to see or read a peer review.

I think even anonymous trashing of another lawyer is frowned upon by the bar. No matter how much it may be deserved.

BTW, I mentioned this before elsewhere a couple of times but you reminded me of it again.

Vincent Bugliosi, the L.A. DA who successfully tried Charles Manson, said that the only thing he would have needed to convict OJ would have been his initial statements to police. (The prosecution never introduced them) I think the same thing is true here. What more do you need to know than what she said to the police and that they found a body down the street later. JMO

Nah, it's not you
IMO he just wanted a new name to the firm that makes him sound better, he is a high profile attorney now isn't he? <sarcasm>
