Hi GMA Kat ! I'm a great cook and would love to come :)
Interestingly our publication bans are to protect the accused. You really are IUPG here. Unfortunately you can interact freely with an unknowing society so the ethics of the practice are really questionable. You put the majority at potential risk to spare a single soul and that seems very wrong IMO. Life means about 15 years, maybe, up here.
Of course by not televising trials here, Canadian trial lawyers don't have to feel embarassed publically wearing wigs and black robes. It would be a great look on BP ( she says very faceciously ) :)

I am not sure if you are upset you can't watch it on TV or you can't watch it via live streaming. If you are upset you cannot watch it via live streaming due to your country, you might want to research proxy servers. I strongly recommend you never break any rules in your country; but this is an interesting and informative article to read if you are interested in site-banning.

It's not that we've been banned from live streaming from any US outlet. It's that the cable station owner chose not to purchase the TruTV package which included Court TV so when their licence to air it ended on 08/31, they switched to ID programming thinking that good little passive Canadians would just sigh and continue to pay extra for a speciality channel that wasn't special anymore. It's about them not wanting to spend the money and us refusing to pay them anyway, hopefully.

Oh, thank you for clarifying. I thought maybe there was some kind of publication ban.

(snipped from link I posted earlier)

Canada is in ONI's nominal category and is not on RSF's internet enemy list. In a few cases, information which the government is actively attempting to keep out of Canadian broadcast and print media (such as names of young offenders or information on criminal trials subject to publicaton bans) is available to Canadian users via Internet from sites hosted outside Canada.

Just cancelled my TruTV package, told them it was false advertising - changing what is available after I signed on is a pretty shabby business practice.

Well that's the thing to do. If enough people cancel, maybe they will bring it back. Here's hoping our Canadian sleuthers will have it resolved by trial time.
