I would...especially if I thought that lie would be believed by many...due to my current situation involving a dead child.....and being the "key" in the investigation.....

Right, IMO. I can defend the truth, but it is hard to fight a lie that just may seem to tie into the real life situation.

We are all a productive of our environments.
99% of the people in prison are from deeply dysfunctional homes.

I can empathize with being dealt a bad hand in life.
She is still responsible for what she has made out of it at this point.
I think it should have no influence on her sentencing.

Don't care about her past personally.

If they were lining up witnesses to discuss how helpful she has been in the investigation, how much counseling she has had to seek to deal with grief surrounding Haleigh, and how she has sought out all services available to her in county for substance abuse and education I think that would be valid..... but this is the Cumming/Croslin clan and there is no testimony about that. Just about how life has been hard for them so they shouldn't be responsible for their actions.

Doesn't move me in the least.
But I am jaded.... I can accept that <smile>

Oh I agree 100%...just making the observation that when scum raises children they usually raise scum...kwim. As a child Misty was as innocent as any child...but as a young adult she had choices and she chose to be just like her parents. I don't feel sorry for her...I just want her to tell the truth!

Without getting into great detail about my own childhood I went thru 8 years of very needed therapy when I was 28 and I have been diagnosed with severe PTSD so it is not only from people who come back from war, It is a diagnoses that is given when you have been thru or seen things that will stay with you and affect you for the rest of your life...Off my soapbox now.

I really believe they used these drug cases as leverage. I mean really, in my town alone there are 40 or more "pain clinics" where a person can go and get hundreds of pills prescribed by "legitimate" doctors - cash only - you should see the herds of people waiting in line for them to open. Now that to me.... is trafficking by a doctor. I heard that one doctor even paid the neighbors living behind one clinic thousands of dollars each to not complain of all the prostitutes behind the building waiting to get pills from the "patients" It's really a very bad problem, and if the cops shut one down 4 more open. Misty for whatever she's done in the drug case, does not deserve years behind bars if they allow pain clinics to legitimally traffic. All my opinion.

I've noticed other instances where Lisa treated Misty horribly...what a mom, & I can understand why Misty globbed on to Teresa Neves. Lisa treats Tommy much better... maybe because he'll commit burglaries with her? I've seen drug addiction do a lot of sorry things, but this blows my mind. Is it any wonder her kids turned out like they did? How else could Misty have turned out? valedictorian? star softball player? homecoming queen? in her dreams. What did Lisa do when Misty accused Tommy of messing with her? I'm sorry, but I'm bitter today, & there's no way this judge is gonna hear even a fraction of what makes this girl tick.

In my world, the truth prevails 99% of the time. Maybe I'm just lucky that way. ~L~

I can see how misty at her age would be nervous of lies being told about her.
Judging from her LDT's she's not used to telling the truth, anyways.

I do hope this court proceeding is weighing heavily on Misty. If she bacame upset earlier, then just maybe she is close to breaking. I can hope, can't I?

I think it was meant for the whole family and any and all that had info in this case. and it seemed to have worked.

This is so true. They need to be going after the source; which is the doctors. Big cities in Florida are full of docs that will write what ever you want!

PTA?? Really?? Makes more sense...they're talking about school.

Article was corrected, now says "PTA", not "PTS".

As Misty Croslin became hysterical, her mother also said that she blackmailed her daughter for Xanax during the Haleigh investigation. She testified that she was unsure of her daughter's age, what a PTA is, and whether Misty Croslin can add. http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=170750&catid=3

I was thinking Parent/Teacher ?, so I'm glad it was corrected, as that fits into the context of what she was saying.

Is the hearing still going? No news?

I had forgotten about the assault, so I'd agree there are PTSD's caused by that and other crimes, absolutely. I'd say with her it's probably more that she sees the walls are closing in though, not just the assault. And that's just my opinion.

She was molested, a man went to jail for molesting her. That could certainly cause a person to have PTSD.

A really bad home life can as well.
Growing up in a household of domestic violence, sexual abuse, and mental abuse (and some drugs and alcohol to keep things unpredictable) brought up a PTSD discussion while I was in therapy. Everyone deals with stress differently. Being a child dealing with it can be like being in a warzone.

Add in a sexual assualt from the guy that is in prison, and year in the Ron Cummings world, and now the Haleigh missing year....I am sure she has PTSD. Doesn't seem like a stretch to me.

Still don't see the validity in a minimum mandatory case.
And she has done nothing redeeming to earn a youthful offenders that I can see. But I think she has PTSD.

well that makes more sense now but how on earth can a mother not know how old her own child is.
