I do believe there is a method to the sentencing madness. (as i've stated earlier when everyone was upset that ron recieved only 15 years)

Tommy did try after the fact to get a reduced sentence. Misty would definately know everything that is going on with Tommy and Ron.

Perhaps now that Misty knows her sentence she will talk. Trying to get a sentence reduction if she makes some kind of truthful confession.

The only way it wouldn't work, is if she was a main player in haleigh's disappearance.
And, in that case, her silence is golden. As is the silence of anyone else in the know of what happened to haleigh.

Only a person with limited knowledge of the truth would be free from prosecution in that case. IMO, Tommy and Misty know the truth about haleighs whereabouts.

I'm still on the fence with Ron's involvement.

1st of all, not many people hate money. I'm sure even that judge loves his money, or what his money can do for him, his family, etc...Misty doesn't have the communication skills, to explain that the little bit of drug money she made, kept her from being broke, destitute, & dependent. So, she agreed that she loved money. Misty DID tell the truth, but it's not the whole story. That like everything else she explains, is her condensed, simplified truth. & her saying that she sold drugs because she's poor? the same thing. Misty knew she didn't have money, & then she sold drugs, & then she did have money. But, Misty wasn't just poor. She was raised from infancy, to accept drugs, dug use, & drig dealing as a part of every day life. Her own mom admitted that she made Misty deal to her. & if she HAD try to communicate all of these things, she would've been accused of playing the victim. But it is what it is. & I don't agree that Ron was grooming her, because I think her parents had already taken care of that...but I do think that's why Ron was attracted to her. They shared the same values & goals in life. to get high, & to make enough money to pay for their dope, with a little left over for extras.

And I completely agree.

Ronald Cummings' Mother: 25 More Years for Misty Croslin if Haleigh Isn't Found
"Snip" http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=170809&catid=3

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Misty Croslin's family is still standing by her after her 25-year prison sentence, but the family of her ex-husband isn't happy.

Ronald Cummings' mother, Teresa Neves, said she's still hoping for information about Haleigh.

Neves said hopefully now that Misty and Tommy Croslin, and Cummings are all sentenced to prison on drug charges, more facts about Haleigh's disappearance can be told.

Misty, IMHO, is an Accessory to Haleigh's disappearance. She may think that telling the truth now as to what happened to Haleigh would only earn her even more time than she is going to do now.

My only hope is that a straight-up prosecutor for the SA's office will go to Misty and offer her immunity in Haleigh's case in exchange for telling just what happened to Haleigh. I say this because I do not think Misty killed Haleigh. Even if Tommy helped dispose of Haleigh, she needs to tell the truth, and needs to pass a polygraph as well as come up with credible evidence. JMO, but I think that Misty and Tommy followed Ronald's as well as TN and GGS's instructions as far as Haleigh is concerned.

Ronald will be out of prison before she is and will certainly have a new girlfriend even while in prison. He has no loyalty to Misty. He has no loyalty to anyone outside his mother and grandmother. He will never implicate himself or them. Misty's downfall is caring for Ronald and being loyal to him.

IMO, the only hope is through the prosecutors office for Haleigh's case, and I am afraid that will not happen. I have such a sad, sinking feeling this afternoon for Haleigh.

MOO's

I think she did. She killed Haleigh in a rage, coming down from a weekend high, in a bad hang over, and in withdrawal. Why would she protect anyone, but herself?

Wow, just got home ! 25 years ?!! and this is just the tip of the iceberg, she could be an old lady by the time she gets out of prison, wow just wow !

  • #407
You are right! The judge has essestially blamed Misty (and tried her, IMO) for Haleigh's demise, without Misty even being charged for Haleigh's death. Granny probably winked at the judge as soon as he gave the sentence.

Does anyone think this will give Misty grounds for an appeal? If it does, sure hope she gets a different attorney.

The state argued with Croslin about her involvement in the drug deals; she has persisted that she was not the leader and that the drug contacts were the groups' not hers alone.

She persisted that she was not into pills. "I'm into marijuana; I don't sell it, I smoke it."

This begs the question, who was the leader then?

I have a silly question. I follow this case loosely.

How did we find out Misty failed her LDT's?
How can we find out if Ron, Tommy and whomever else took them failed or passed them?

When Misty took the private LDT with Tim Miller's people we heard about her failing it miserably from them. LE did not comment other than say the news was not a surprise for them which might give us an idea about how she did in their LDT.

Ronald said he passed his with flying colors but he also said that Misty passed hers so who knows what his word is worth. I don't remember if there's been any other information about hers.

Tommy's lawyer and the private investigator had some things to say about his LDT they arranged and it led to speculations he might have failed but I don't know if they ever said it in as many words.

Haleigh's mother said early in the case that she was not told if she passed or failed and her results were sent somewhere.

Dunno about others.

Sometimes, you have to be satisfied with what you can get. I may want steak, but I can only get a hambuger. Wishing upon a star, is not always practical, be happy sith the moon.
In this case, I couldn't agree less. There's no sense in Haleigh's murder case, not being solved.

http://www.gainesville.com/article/...ears-blames-Haleigh-case-for-drug-prosecution

Snipped from link

Croslin, 18, blamed her legal woes on the case of the missing girl, who not been found and is presumed dead. She said the only reason there was an undercover operation was because of Haleigh's case. The girl's father - Ronald Cummings - and three others also were arrested and have been sentenced in the drug case.

Circuit Judge Wendy Berger, however, stressed that Croslin was in court because she's a drug dealer.

"It is clear that you had a hard life, but lots of people have hard lives and don't always end up committing crimes," Berger said in delivering the sentence. "You may not have a lot of book smarts - you have a lot of street smarts. You did it for the money. This case is not about Haleigh Cummings, Misty. This case is about you and your co-defendants in trafficking drugs. You are here because you sold drugs."

___________

Gotta love the Judge, succinct and on point.

Tommy is still "OUT OF DEPT - COURT ORDER" on DOC site, is he in St. John's? He wasn't in court, wonder where he is? ... and what's up with that?

  • #413
IMO, lacking much of a conscience.

IMO, she killed that child because Haleigh was keeping her from a much needed "sleep off." People who have not slept for 2, 3 days will kill to sleep.

Neves said hopefully now that Croslin, her brother Tommy Croslin, and Cummings are all sentenced to prison on drug charges, more facts about Haleigh's disappearance can be told.

Well, that'll be a first... For more facts to be told, it would require that some facts had been told already...

Today, Neves said hopefully Misty will tell even more, and if Haleigh is still missing in 25 years when Misty's sentence is up, she should be put away for another 25 years.

Hopefully Misty will tell even more lies?

What could she be put away for 25 more years for, simply because Haleigh is not found?

I'm not quite clear on what you are wondering about a lesser mm in PC.
She has 2 charges there that carry the 25 yr. mm.
So did Ron but his were dropped.

Ron was charged with 5 charges in PC.

1 4-14 g-3 yr. mm
2 14-28 g-15 yr. mm
2 28g-30kg-25 yr. mm

Misty was charges with 7 charges in PC.

3 4-14 g
3 14-28g
2 28g-30kg

Donna got a deal on her charge in SJC. She pled to a lesser charge and got the mm dropped from 25 yrs. to 15 yrs.

ah-ha!

Thanks twall
You've cleared up what mm she's facing in Putnam. I wondered if her grams were less on the PC charges pending, or if Misty had been able to plea something less in PC ...

I know you keep careful track of this detailed info on what charges are where for who...thanks for clarifying for us...

Silly question, I know, but did the judge in Ronalds case have any choice words for him? Or, was it more, sorry I have to sentence you to prison?

Is there a minimum of the sentence she will have to serve before she can get out or will she have to serve the whole 25? tia
