I am not a lawyer, and I do not play one on TV.

All MOO.

Florida has mandatory minimum sentences, but there are ways to get around them. One of the things that could have been done from the beginning was to try to get some charges dropped, or get your charges reduced to something lesser. That is on the perp and their attorney, which, I might point out, in the US is offered free of charge if you can't afford one.

One of the main ways to do that is to help LE, IOW, snitch. If you have nothing to bargain with, or nothing you want to bargain with, the next thing you can do is spend every moment you have showing you have learned your lesson and changed your wicked ways.

I don't know what Donna did; I didn't follow her sentencing.

Did Hope do any of this? Nope, she was arrogant and belligerent and threatening, unfortunately for her, on tape that was played at her sentencing.

Did Tommy do this? To my knowledge, nope, he just went and failed another LDT. He did offer up some info, but I have no idea how credible it was. (I'm drawing a blank on Tommy's sentence.)

Ron worked with LE, it appears he gave them information, what, I don't know, but it has been stated a plea deal was reached. He still got 15 years.

IMO, Misty cut off her nose to spite her face, and that's it. IMO, this isn't about all the LE of Putnam County being in Ron's pocket, and a judge in a whole different county, St. John's, being out to get Misty or trying her for Haleigh's death. If nothing else, Misty saw what happened to Hope because of Hope's attitude, and chose to learn nothing from it.

I wonder what else the judge could do, when she so CLEARLY had a defendent in front of her who by her own testimony today showed no remorse and took no responsibility, and didn't seem to think dealing drugs was any big deal, just something poor people do. Does anyone in here think Misty, given the opportunity, wouldn't be right back out on the streets dealing drugs? I think she would, and I think the judge did, too. And IMO, that's why Misty got the sentence she did.

This is the best explanation of the scenario that I have read today. Good job, and thanks for phrasing what I have been trying to say all day.

I teach 100 to 150 teenagers a day. I can tell you from the first day of class, which ones will fly right, which ones have ptential, which ones I can persuade to the right path, and which ones I will never be able to reach. It comes with experience. 25 years of experience. I am not anti potential, I am just experienced. Experience is just as important as my PhD.

There are few things that I would like to say in response to some posts...but I will not go there...as I do not want a TO....

IMO, we will see Justice for Haleigh.....and it's coming soon..

This will not be the last time we see this bunch....the Cummings or the Croslins.

JMO of course

Was there ever a "secret witness" at MC's sentencing. As in the title of this thread?

Anyone know?

Probably. But what can anyone do? Misty if she doesn't know the truth needed to convince LE of that in some way. She has to admit to not being there, or leaving the kids alone, or passing out. She had to retract her lies.

If LE didn't believe anything she said about Ronald, then she should have been doing interviews, invited the national media in and told them her story. She had to call the FBI in and make enough noise so that if anything is wrong within PC the truth was told. The fact that she did not, tells me whatever happened she was a part of.

She opened the door, all 5 of them, for this type of swift justice without a trial or every being charged with Haleigh's death. They had to know they were being watched. Every time they took a breath LE was on top of them.

I'm not sure what I feel right now. I want answers. Will time in jail for all of them get those answers? No I doubt it. I fear this is the end of the Haleigh Story.

For some reason Misty is taking the opposite approach and remaining silent. It's probably because her attorney isn' much of a help to her. She told Chelsea she didn't want to say anything over the phone because she didn't want her recordings played on the talk shows.

<snipped>

CHELSEA CROSLIN: I spoke with Misty the other night on the phone for the first time in about 4 months and it was a very hard emotional phone call and I just cried and begged her to please just tell us what happened and whatever there was that she was hiding and I asked her straight up “Are you hiding anything for Ronald, did Ronald have involvement?” and Misty told me “I can’t talk about it over the phone” and she just kept crying and she said she didn’t want to be there the rest of her life but I think Misty said all that Misty can say. You know over the phone she knows she is recorded and she can be played on the Shows so she tries not to say too much.

The max for that charge is 30 yrs. plus fine.

08/16/2010 46 TRIAL MINUTES: DEFT PRESENT, ATT BY ROBERT FIELDS

08/16/2010 45 W/D FORMER PLEA, PLEAD NOLO A/C TO TRAFFICKING IN

08/16/2010 45 HYDROCODONE 14-28 GRAMS

08/16/2010 46 ADVISED OF MAX PENALTY 30 YRS DOC &/OR $10,000 FINE

Thanks twall :blowkiss:, so the judge gave her 5 yrs less, do you know what the min would be? Sorry to bug ya, but you always seem to find the right answers and my brain is tired today lol. TIA :blowkiss:

Also, she is still facing 7 charges in PC and that could could be another 200 yrs? I wonder if they will do her like they did Ron, let the yrs run concurrently. Time will tell, 11 days for her her next court date. I pray by then she will wake up and take a stand for Haleigh!

re: secret witness?

perhaps it was Lisa and her powerful testimony that Misty's age is unknown and that Lisa blackmailed her into dealing drugs? :waitasec:

I am wondering if the secret witness was the undercover... meh. Or Lisa. :waitasec:

Having Lisa on the stand in Misty's defense was not a smart move.
The judge might have thought Misty was going to turn out exactly as her mother.

A vicious circle of drug abuse, lying, stealing, cheating. At 43 misty's chances of starting a family of her own become slimmer.

Thank God. May the circle be broken.

This is the title to the thread
(2010.10.08 - MISTY's St. Johns Co. FELONY SENTENCING @1:30PM (secret witness?) ), and it was a question( secret witness )and the date of Misty hearing which was today.

Only person I can assume it was, was her mother Lisa? It was mentioned on AH a while back that there may be a secret witness, wonder if it was Lisa or if the secret witness will be revealed in PC on Oct. 19 sentencing hearing?
No clue at this point...still in shock that there is no answers as to what may of happen to Haleigh..
