I know Misty is what Misty is, and what she has done, she had done, but good grief. Talk about throwing your life away.

Thanks twall :blowkiss:, so the judge gave her 5 yrs less, do you know what the min would be? Sorry to bug ya, but you always seem to find the right answers and my brain is tired today lol. TIA :blowkiss:

Also, she is still facing 7 charges in PC and that could could be another 200 yrs? I wonder if they will do her like they did Ron, let the yrs run concurrently. Time will tell, 11 days for her her next court date. I pray by then she will wake up and take a stand for Haleigh!

Make me wonder if Fields let her get bopped on the head in St. John in hopes she would now cooperate by plea-dealing with PC & giving up Haleigh info? :waitasec:

And I thought my siberian was stubborn. Sheesh.

re: secret witness?

perhaps it was Lisa and her powerful testimony that Misty's age is unknown and that Lisa blackmailed her into dealing drugs? :waitasec:

What?? MC's age is unknown? splain please. tia

I thought I read earlier in the thread - from an article - that Lisa testified she didn't know how old Misty was. I'll look for it.

(Of course, just because Lisa doesn't know how old Misty is doesn't mean there is not a birth certificate somewhere...so...not exactly unknown unknown - just unknown to Lisa.) :waitasec:

Here it is:

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/topstories/news-article.aspx?storyid=170750&catid=3

Misty Croslin's mother, Lisa Croslin, testified today on her daughter's behalf that she was a "terrible mother." She used drugs, she said, when she was raising her daughter, and that Croslin failed seventh grade, then never returned to school.

Her mother and other family members were sitting behind her in the St. Johns County courtroom, and relatives of Haleigh Cummings are also in the courtroom.

As Croslin became hysterical, her mother also said that she blackmailed her daughter for Xanax during the Haleigh investigation. She testified that she was unsure of her daughter's age, what a PTA is, and whether Croslin can add.

That is what was being reported earlier today and the judge could of given Misty a lower sentence but chose not to. That is how I understand it. Of course Fields can appeal, but look where Tommy got...no where. All up to the judge and IMO this judge is sentencing the Croslin's letting her personal feelings get in the way....why else would she let Ron slide? JMO :cow:

Hey Madj, just for the record: This judge did not have anything to do with Ron; his charges were heard (or not heard, as the case may be) in another county by another judge. And Tommy's appeal is in the works; it has not been denied (yet).

Misty will appeal, but since this never went to trial her chances are not as good as if it had gone to trial. She pleaded No Contest to a charge with a mandatory minimum, even though she had never been given any guarantee she would be sentenced as a youthful offender. I think some people led her to believe she would be, which was wrong, but suggesting something is not the same as guaranteeing it, and I think Misty knew that; she is not as dense as people think she is.

I just saw the LIVE News 4 FLORIDA 6 pm news cast re Misty's trial
http://www.news4jax.com/video/15505198/index.html
the reporter said, "Misty cannot appeal, Crystal VERY upset during trial, left hurridly when over", and I saw Lisa Croslin refuse an interview with this reporter (she appeared quite upset as leaving courthouse - didn't look too bad physically JMO - and she was alone).

Maybe Levi will come through for us again (as he always does) and have some good information.

I think what most of us cannot comprehend is that this is her life, their life, how they exist. There is no shame amongst these people. To them this is normal.

My husband has clients that brag because they always go to county jail and not city jail. One apparently is a more prestigious place to be locked up in.

Well, maybe Lisa knows Misty's birthday but she doesn't know which year this is, or she might even know that and still be unable to calculate her age. And not interested enough to ask.

JUSTICE! They could be selling to children. They committed a crime. Why are people sympathetic to a girl that will never fly right.

Because she is so young, and she obviosuly never stood a chance. She would have faired better had she been raised by wolves.

My heart breaks for her.

It's a sad day in America when a child RAPISTS and MURDERERS get less time than she did today!

Well. Mmmph, mmmph, mmmph. That's about all I got I'm sorry.

I did see a short clip on the one of the links and I don't know how to directly link, but the video could have already been posted on this thread and I missing it. I'm sorry I scanned and tried to hit the MSM links but this is already 19 pages.

The clip was of the Judge sitting and listening to MC say something about being set up and she would not be sitting there if she hadn't been set up because she's not a drug dealer and the Judge cut MC off and said "yeah you are". "Yeah you are".

Where's Haleigh?

I'm not a lawyer, & even I could've done better than Lisa. Fields could've gone to the nearest public school, & got a counselor to testify about how druggie parents ruin their kids. Where was the social worker verifying that Misty should've been taken away as a baby? I don't know how it sounded in court, but reading what Lisa said, was pretty powerful, IMO. She admitted to blackmailing her own daughter. How low can you go.

Misty was kept in isolation and not allowed to do anything in St. John's County Jail.

She was not allowed in general population, she was not denied access to spiritual counsel or education. She was in protective custody for her own protection, not denied privileges as punishment. Misty did nothing to make her small chance at a youthful offender status appealing to a judge. It probably still wouldn't have worked, but she did nothing.

THE FOLLOWING IS MY OPINION ONLY

I feel sorry for Misty and here's why. Hank and Lisa for parents! OMG! This life style is all she ever knew. Then she falls in with Ronald, ya know birds of a feather. I feel she is a person who never had anyone who cared a hoot for her and she raised herself to be what she saw all her life.
She is a smart alecky girl but I think it is a defense mechanism that she learned and it is going to be much worse if she ever does get out of prison.
Personally I don't think she deserves more time in prison then the other's got. In a perfect world I would lock her in a rehab. Not only would she learn to live without drugs but I would give her life skills and a high school education at the least and she would not be released until she completed the basics. If she choose to futher her education I'd be behind her all the way.
I feel her life is over and ruined because if she ever see's the outside world again she will be worse.
I don't know if she had a hand in Haleigh's death and if she did then by all means yes she needs to face her punishment, but I just cannot help but feel sorry for her wasted life. Shame on anyone who could have saved her.

At this point in time as her sentence stands today (barring any appeals) how much of the 25 yrs does she have to do before parole?

(I apologize because I ask this question every single time one of them is sentenced) TIA for the answer!
