2010.12.15 Dr Jane Bock Report & CV

  • #161
I love the part where she says she initially thought she could do something for the defense but then recently had a new source of info (TruTV). She said she heard her name mentioned and was "relieved" it was mispronounced. It sounds to me like she regrets getting involved with the defense after hearing more about the case. JMO

Aaah, okay, I understand how you and Lera see it that way...

I thought the same TallyHo..by her testimony it seems she was only given SOME photos...and not all of them...
Up until Sept 2010(when Baez sent her photos) the only thing she had to go on was the visit it a cleared crime scene, viewing of the remains and Dr Halls report...she had no crime scene or ME photos to use a visual tool for comparison...

http://www.wftv.com/pdf/27085544/detail.html
Dec 21 2010 Depo

Bock examined the Crime scene on Feb. 1, 2009.

Bock viewed the remains on Feb 2, 2009 (without a confidentiality agreement or any agreement or contract it seems)

Bock received Dr Hall's report in Feb 17th 2009. She was impressed with the accuracy of his plant identification and she confessed she was somewhat envious because she's familiar with the Flora in Florida, she did part of her PdD thesis in Florida

BUT Bock did not receive photos(LE photos and ME photos) until.....September 2010.(found in Part 2 on Page 41) Ashton was shocked ...A Delay of 1.5 years.

LE removed and cleared the area of vegetation when looking for Caylee's remains so the site would not have been the same when she went there.

Here are some photos of the crime scene for reference. I have been looking for the log, mentioned in the report, that the skull was under.

Look at Photo 63
Under the Blue tent..looks like a log
The remains were under the BLUE tent, iirc

Thanks
These photos (Set 4) were released on Feb 18, 2009
She had received Dr Halls report on Feb 17, 2009
Yet she did not receive, from the Defense, photos until Sept 2010

I wonder if there are other photos that have not been released to us..(we know the ME/autopsy photos have Not..right?..i think they have not)

I also wish add...WOW..Look at all that Vegetation..

Do I detect hints of Bob Ross? The happy plants and happy trees? That is amusing. Anyway, it seems she is reluctant to be involved somewhat because of the publicity of the case. Is anyone else getting that? Maybe it's just me.

Yes..at the very end of the first depo (which is listed as #2 :waitasec:)

Thanks for pointing that photo out... I was looking at #19 through #23 of close ups of the trash bags and laundry bag to see if I could see the log. It is hard to tell with all the vegetation and vines.

You are correct the ME/autopsy photos have not been released.

Exactly. WOW. I hope this photos are blown up for the jury so they can get the full impact. Add to that all the water (and snakes!) and I can see how searchers wouldn't be able to get in there.

I'm bringing DC's video over to this thread because I have found what I believe is significant.

5:25-5:45 is the time in this video that is of interest.

@ 5:25 - we can see the pavers

@ 5:32 he pans over and it looks like what could be described as a log.

@ 5:43 you again see the pavers (which, imo, look like they have been slightly moved since seeing them a few seconds prior) and what I believe is the canvas laundry bag under or slightly under the pavers and just crazy amounts of plant growth.

So the defense says Hall only has his life experience to rely on, and their own expert has to look in a book (that she forgot) about Florida vegetation to figure out what it is? How many books has Hall written? Gah! She has less than NOTHING compared to Dr. Hall! I am just amazed at the GALL of this defense team!

It would so ironic and funny if the book she forgot was authored by Dr. Hall. I know it probably isn't, but it's funny to think about.

Go back and start at the 6:25 min mark...it shows up better...pavers, log, well logs..
.he sure goes back and forth..pavers, logs, pavers, logs..zooms in

DC is fixated on the pavers and logs or certain trees..
There is soooo much dense vegetation...

If we look at the grid map... it appears that the laundry bag would be to the left of the skull and slightly closer to the roadway.

Looking at the video starting @ 6:25 and we see the pavers. We also pan straight @ 8:12 and 8:37 where there is what is for sure a LOG and it appears to be slightly elevated in some areas. It is slightly further into the woods than pavers. I think this large log is where Caylee's skull was. I did not, on the video, see DC go near the log. He sure as heck was digging and probing underneath those pavers. What a sick man!! :banghead:

The "daycare" sign was right near the log, wasn't it. I'm sure there are a lot of logs from downed trees in this area. You have to wonder if DC was aware of the pavers and the black trash bags (which he showed interest in) wouldn't he be also looking for the canvas laundry bag? It sure looks like a canvas bag in the video but didn't the canvas bag contain the black bags also? I remember seeing some pictures of the canvas bag and the black bags at the scene early in 2009 when the pictures were first released. jmo

ETA: Looking at the grid above and the location of the pink blanket DC was very close.

If we can find those pictures, that would be great!!

I would think that DC would have been told about the laundry bag, but he sure seemed interested in black trash bags only. So maybe someone... cough... Cindy... cough... Casey... forgot about that little detail?

Okay, I have not read the entire deposition... yet! I am only on page 29. (Just got home from work).

I just have a few quick comments...

Caylee! I am so sorry! My heart aches for what you have been through and I am in tears reading about how you were found... where you were found... and the condition that you were found in. You didn't deserve this. You are safe now, baby girl! Don't you worry... this will all be over soon!

I am extremely upset that not only does Mrs. Bock have no experience with Florida plant growth, but that she would come into a deposition of a murdered baby and not bring the book that she says would help HER determine what kind of plants these are. I mean, really? I don't want to seem mean, but this is serious! Why would she come unprepared? WHY??

Jose's comments about the pavers hit me like a brick to the face... Talk about an open door??

LOVE JA's quick response to JB's "vine intervention." I started to cry! Just heartbreaking! Yes, we were all too late and even by the time we even knew the name Caylee Marie Anthony, it was too late.

This deposition broke my heart and I had to get past some tears to read it all. I wish we could hear this depo instead of just reading it. I'd like to know the tone of voice on some of those things... like vine intervention and JA's response.

If I were a juror in this case, I don't think I'd put much weight to this expert. She doesn't seem to understand anything about Florida plants. Anyone can get the answers from a book... it doesn't take an expert to do that. I don't understand how she can say there is only one week's worth of growth if she doesn't even know what plant it is. Also, her attitude stinks. She seemed more in awe that she was being allowed to see the pictures. She was asking questions like she was on some sort of nature walk in a place she isn't familiar with and asking a tour guide for information.

All that is just my :twocents: I think I will see if I'm recovered enough from reading this one to read the rest of the docs that came out. Poor Caylee.

Good point! Yep, that's why they waited so long for Caylee's funeral! LKB wanted Bock to come in December but couldn't make it til Feb 1. Did they TELL her it would delay the funeral of a baby?

From her website, it seems to me that forensic botany is a hobby.:banghead:

That would explain the depo... I can't believe she's being held out as an expert.

Do you kinda get the feeling that when JB initially talked with Dr. Bock he said, "Who are you going to believe me, or your eyes?"

I think we should locate the thread where we discuss the crime scene photos that way we don't go O/T on this thread...
off to locate it...

Haven't found it yet but I did find this thread on Forensic Botany...good to have to read with this thread.
