I think it was heard and admitted because the stepfather testified to it being true during the mitigation phase. Made about as much difference as a hill of beans to the sentence though.

You know what? I can honestly see Cindy trying to talk George into saying something similar during the penalty phase, should it come to that.

Did you miss what CA was wearing?? She looked like she was about to go on a fox hunt. Either the money is running out or she has reverted back to her former crappy clothes. With taste like hers we can't expect too much for the inmate.

But taking an iron to a shirt cost nothing. Clean, pressed shirt and it could be from Target (everything is from China today anyway) but just press the shirt. It makes a world of difference to a jury and the public. Makes it looks as if CA does not give a d*m how she looks. KC is stuck with whatever her mother gives her to wear.

Makes you wonder if what she wrote to JB was, "Can you tell my mother to get herself off the couch and put an iron to my clothes before she brings them to court." But then CA does not care what we think or how we feel on these forums we are potential jurors, all of us, just not this case. Iron the shirt or send it to us....we'll do it. lol jmo

I had to leave just as the hearing was ending - and missed parts. Does anyone know or did HHJP say when he would make his decision about this motion? Very soon I hope.

I have to look up the law Ms Finnell was quoting, but I sure liked the media rebuttal - needs to be more specific as to person who would be harmed. Hmm, where have we heard that bit about "must be specific" before lately....:slap:

I was NOT impressed with Finnell's speaking ability however. Too monotone, no appropriate pauses and where was the fire she was rushing off to anyhow? And oh yeah, the courtroom has mikes. Baez doesn't get to turn all of them off - just the ones at the defense table. You are allowed to speak into one when you are making your motion presentation.:doh:

I noticed that but thought it might be one of those reminder google calendar thingys that popup with something HHJP wanted to remember before the end of the hearing.

Like - Mr. Bye-aazzz - two more days to get your act together because I will not come to court the last week of December because you finally get organized to want a hearing on Kronk on the deadline date.

Actually, most expert witnesses require you to pay them in advance. A state expert witness I deposed a few months ago required me to pay in advance; so it works both ways.

I know it is expensive to defend a case like this, but to my knowledge the Floridia taxpayers have only seen an accounting of less than half of that amount. Where IS the rest of that money? How has it been spent? And why don't the FL taxpayers know how it has been spent considering THEY are now footing the bill?

The choices the defense have made to date in the ways they have squandered money is their own downfall, imo. Baez knew what it was going to cost to hire Henry Lee. He spent it. Now he has a big ol problem.

Sheppard was the US Supreme Court opinion in the "a bushy-haired stranger did it" case. The opinion concerned the effect of pretrial publicity on a defendant's right to a fair trial. If anyone wants to read a summary:

But why? If you read through the mitigation information for similar trials in Florida that kind of information might make interesting press, but hasn't made a shred, and I mean not a shred of difference to the actual sentence handed out.

These court documents say things like "while the jury noted blah blah during the mitigation phase, they recommend LWOP (or whatever the highest sentence asked for) for this crime.

Juries seem to feel - So? Boohoo - big deal - if you wanted to kill someone because of it - why not the sexual offender? Oh course they don't say that, but like I say - they seem to be unimpressed by far more severe mitigating factors than what George has been accused of.

I agree. After the press release that their marriage is just fine (LOL) and George not showing up anymore, makes me suspect that not all is well in paradise, and George has finally come to his senses about his "beautiful daughter". Plus, the money has dried up and the media isn't interested in him anymore. Why bother?

You're such a nice person to offer to iron ICA shirts I just think mama bear should get off her rear and realize that ICA needs to be presentable in court. doesn't baez ever talk to her about that. Is Cindy just ticked off and can't be bothered? Remember the suits that Peterson and Westerfield wore? Nice, but they still ended up on death row.

No comparison really to ICA, but if the state pays for this guy, does Florida want to fork over some dosh for ICA's wardrobe?

Casey has worn that blouse before in court, when she gets back to her cell she must turn it over to a guard and it is then stuffed into a paper bag with her other bits of "wardrobe". Cindy really should consider bringing in fresh clothes for her, but so far the only new frock we have seen is the orange top she wore at the last hearing. I'll bet the guards take great pleasure in twisting her clothes up before they bag them.

I think Baez is shirking his duties to let his client look so bad. Cindy should not be in charge of what KC is wearing. Baez, if he were worth his salt, would get her some sweet little cardigans and something more loose fitting over her chest for gosh sakes. To heck with Cindy, he should be in charge of how she presents herself to the public. This is a post about how KC looks only in regards to what a horrible defense team she has. They are sloppy.

What I've read (probably here!) is that the jail will agree to store one court outfit for inmates. It gets shoved into a bag. So it would be quite wrinkled by the time it gets retrieved for the next appearance. When she wears the same outfit twice in a row, I assume that's the reason for the
wrinkled clothes. Have to give CA credit, if that's what is happening! She isn't running to the jail with new outfits for "sweetheart".

Shout out to Baez: Get your girl a stylist! I am sure there is some budding little Rachel Zoe out there somewhere in Orlando who would create an easy to care for classic look for Casey. Clothes that fit would be a good start. Cindy CANNOT be trusted. The woman has dual motivations when it comes to her daughter, and we have seen how her overt attempts to help, are really covert attempts to punish and humiliate Casey.

I cannot believe I am saying this, but I cannot bear it for another second, I am distracted by her bad bras, ill-fitting shirts and awful hairdo's. I find myself mentally re-styling her every time I watch a hearing.

I think Cindy does get the clothes for her and they look bad. So to hear she does not like ruffles is interesting. The clothes look extremely cheap. I am going to say the blouse is less than $10 and the slacks maybe 12 to 15. Sounds petty, but she looks very slovenly, but (and this is not going to go over well) she is very very pretty, messy hair or not and that is going to go a long way in saving her from the death penalty, imo.

I have always believed that Cindy really hates KC - and that the clothes she brings her to ware in court is just another little passive-aggressive way that Cindy has found to punish her.
