2011.01.06 State Taking Depositions

I am happy about the Florida rule that each witness may be deposed.
"They are boxed in", defense expert Richard Hornsby explains, "They can't backtrack."

"It is a gut punch because you are calling on this person's family to put her to death."

October 14, 2008 George testified at grand jury
"My focus is on my grandaughter. It always will be.I want everyone to have a prayer for my family today".

On this same date, Casey was later arrested.

Respectfully BBM

The sad thing is that the Anthony's have no one to blame but themselves for being the State's witnesses. Maybe if they had just kept their mouths shut and not told so many lies from the beginning trying to cover for their daughter's evil act(s), they wouldn't be in the quandary in which they now find themselves.

Somehow, I just can't muster up a lot of sympathy for them....

I searched for Caley but not in the area where they found her remains. I don't even know why the detective signaled me out. The only tie I have to the area is that I drove by in the car. I didn't even get out of the car. I think the defense needs a better detective. (But I hope they don't get one, this ones doing just fine for the prosecution.)

You are my Websleuths poster of the year! Congratulations and welcome. This is, hands down, the funniest thing I have ever read here, or anywhere, in my life!!

You actually only drove by.

Oh my God, please let the judge hear about this!!!

You just can't make this stuff up.:floorlaugh::yourock::welcome4::Banane27:

Seriously, thank you for searching. God sees you!

Are there live bodies here on this thread? I'm having a cow trying to find out what today's daily update means. I posted a thread, but I think everybody is buried deep elsewhere!

This is true. But let's not get distracted here. Because looking at the overall picture we have to remember the family lied right out of the gate. Before she was charged with anything. And then they lied when she was taken away for child endangerment and lying herself.

Yes, death is different but as history shows, they were very quick and free with their lies and death had nothing to do with it. Certainly not Caylee's.

:tyou:

for giving of yourself to help find Caylee, and for being strong when you were called to testify as to how and where she ended up. I'm sorry you have been dragged into this.

Hi Fetterwoman! Welcome!

Just curious -- when you say you are one of them, do you mean that you are one of the latest group being deposed by the prosecution?

Thank you for your post and thank you for looking for Caley!

Sounds yummy - where is AZLawyer when we need her!

:waitasec: I did find this:
Writ of Habeas Corpus
A writ of habeas corpus orders the custodian of an individual in custody to produce the individual before the court to make an inquiry concerning his or her detention, to appear for prosecution (ad prosequendum) or to appear to testify (ad testificandum). State courts may issue such writs to prisoner custodians to produce federal prisoners.

This just made memories of Cindy and Casey's phone call come rushing back into my mind... oh wow.. if only I could have that part of Cindy's voice playing over and over again in Cindy's home so she would have to listen to herself.

"Blame yourself for telling lies." OVER and OVER again.

steadychick - Yes I was called in yesterday to give a deposition. The other people I talked to all said the area was not searchable when they were there. I, however, did not search that particular area, I searched two entirely different areas so I do not know what they expected to learn from me.

Thank you for searching for Caylee. It was kind of you to volunteer your time and efforts.

The prosecution expected to learn exactly what you told them. They're no dummies.

I hope you gave the defense team the Lee-finger salute after your deposition.

Thank you for your post and :welcome:

So sorry to hear your "searched entirely different areas" and "drove by in the car, didn't even get out" (from you post above) translated to the Defense as "searched the exact spot"

Glad you helped in the search for Caylee

Will he Baez now drop the "body was moved" defense?

Wonder what is next the trial will be here soon and what defense does he have? What doubt can he raise?

Well, he always has "the nanny did it" or "she's still alive" if he has any sense at all (which I doubt) he will claim it was an accident and try and get his client to tell that version of the truth. However, that's not going to happen so....I guess we just sit back and watch the trainwreck

03/22/2011 SUPPLEMENTAL STATE WITNESS LIST

State adding Lisa and Kevin Gallaway to the State Witness List

Good cause for adding late - their names had been provided by the DEFENSE to the State via letter as possible [DEFENSE] witnesses who searched on Suburban Drive in 2008. They were deposed by the STATE on January 20, 2011, and not listed on the DEFENSE Witness List.

The Gallaways gave a brief interview to the media when they went in for their depositions on January 20, 2011.

TES searchers questioned.
Casey Defense Witnesses: Area Was Submerged

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The defense's new witnesses in the case against Casey Anthony may not provide quite the proof the defense had hoped.
In late November, defense attorney Cheney Mason said for the first time that his team had found 15 to 20 people who searched the exact area where Caylee Anthony's remains were found, but found no body.
(clip)
Among them were Kevin and Lisa Galloway, a husband and wife who searched with Texas EquuSearch on all-terrain vehicles within a few feet of where Caylee Anthony's remains were later found.
"We were probably the closest to her of anyone on the search," said Lisa Galloway.
The Galloways told WESH 2 News on Thursday that the area where the remains were later found was under waist-deep water in September 2008. From what they saw, they said they believe Caylee Anthony's remains were present and submerged.
"Do you think there was any way it was dry enough for someone to move the remains after Casey was locked up on Oct. 14?" asked WESH 2 reporter Bob Kealing.
"We went in there three times and that water was deep," said Kevin Galloway.

Casey Defense Witnesses: Area Was Submerged
Prosecutors Question New Witnesses Under Oath Thursday
POSTED: 4:37 pm EST January 20, 2011

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The defense's new witnesses in the case against Casey Anthony may not provide quite the proof the defense had hoped.
In late November, defense attorney Cheney Mason said for the first time that his team had found 15 to 20 people who searched the exact area where Caylee Anthony's remains were found, but found no body.
If that's the case, the testimony could support the defense theory that the remains were placed in the area after Anthony was already indicted and jailed.
In the past, Texas EquuSearch volunteers have given sworn statements saying that the area in question was under water and there was no way to figure out what was there.
On Thursday [Jan 20, 2011], prosecutors had the chance to question more than 10 [14 depos on Jan 20, 2011] witnesses under oath.
