2011.03.07 Dorothy Sims Docs RE: Chloroform & Plant Growth *Merged*

Just read all of that Logan depo. Don't waste your time reading it. I am so irritated by him and the shallow grounds he uses to try to disqualify Vass's work. Logan didn't attempt to do any testing. He is not a Forensic Anthropologist, and has some nerve to criticize Vass. What makes the DT think that Logan's expert "opinion" is going to have any impact on chloroform results being allowed. What a waste of money and a huge waste of time the DT is extracting from the Prosecutors.

Okay, is it me, or is not a SINGLE ONE of their experts actually experts in any field? Just people who do stuff like plant growth or chloroform as a hobby? Or people like Dorothy who can somehow argue it without being a real expert? Shoot, they ought to add Cindy as decomposition specialist since she would fit right in with their other experts!

Wow. It's got to be bad when you can only find people with this stuff as hobbies or can somehow argue it without being an expert for your defense, and no actual experts to help you out. You'd think that would tell the defense something, but as usual, they are missing the big red flags!

IMO, any of the defense team experts that were actually well-renowned, accomplished experts in the SAME fields as the prosecution's experts bailed a long time ago ... why? ... because they most likely agreed with the prosecution's experts .. JMO

Oh no. Dr. Logan's deposition is a must read. he offers some semi clear and easily believable opinions within his area of expertise. Some that will have great impact on the jury.

Now remember Dr. Logan is a Forensic Toxicologist. Not a Forensic Anthropologist (which for some idiotic reason JB is trying to use him as). He gets torn apart going up against most of Dr. Vass's work with decomposition, but his input on the chloroform is damning. he hems and haws a bit, but finally concedes that the reason that the state experts were unable to quantify the specific amount of chloroform in the trunk was because they found so much more than their tests were prepared to detect that it literally went off the meter. I can't believe the defense would be willing to let this get anywhere near the jury. I mean Logan validates the chloroform tests, he validates much of Dr. Vass's approach, he gets torn apart on the places he challenges Vass. He is prosecution gold.

I read the pages at B.F. dealing with chloroform probably over a year ago. They were very clear to point out there was a LOT of chloroform found in the trunk.I could never understand why defense kept acting as though there was "trace".Dear God I know I am uneducated but they are a disaster.:seeya:

Well yes the defense kept harping on "well they can't say how much chloroform they found. They can't give us a specific amount. So it can just be miniscule or some trace element from household cleaner". In Dr. Logan's depo it clearly comes out, the reason the labs could not give a number for the chloroform was there was so much it exceeded the ranges that they could measure it. It begged the needle on the meter and after that it was anybodies guess as to hom much there actually was beyond "lots of it".
