My company pays people on jury duty... regular wage with no time restriction. I guess I was surprised to hear that so many employers out there do not pay their employees to be a GOOD CITIZEN. too bad I can't serve on a jury because I'm not a citizen. I would love the opportunity to serve.

I just checked our manual....I am .gov employee. If you are called to jury duty and take "court leave" you have to sign your witness fee over to the court. If you take annual leave, you can keep your "witness fee". Doesn't say how long they will or won't pay you for though. I assume for as long as it takes.

I was rereading some of ICAs IM chats...I forget if it was with ID or JG but they were talking about jury duty and she said she had never been called but hopes she would some day!

During the break, I think I heard Mason saying he could hear the faint sound of ice tinkling in a glass................must be ready for happy hour.

I've been on a few juries and I can honestly say I've never seen this many jurors be excused, ever. This is surprising to me, to say the least.

I think it's because of the length of this trial, that they are excusing easily JMHO:innocent:

Does anyone know how many more they have to go through? TIA

I think it more because of the length of trial and sequestration that is causing so many issues..Not able to put their lives on hold that long:rocker:

I think Casey needs to realize just what she is putting these people thru when they DO SEAT a jury + alternates....Man oh man..How did they ever find enough jurors for the OJ case..wasnt it about 6 months long????

This jury selection is fascinating! I'm amazed at some of the responses. I think the state will definitely want the young woman with the 5-year-old daughter. The woman who's religious beliefs won't allow her to sit in judgement of anyone, will not make the final cut.

Hey, I just checked mine too:

Any full-time employee who is called for jury duty will receive full pay and continuation of benefits for that period of absence. A deduction, exclusive of any travel reimbursement, will be made from the regular paycheck equal to the amount received by the employee as the jury fee.

Sweet! Too bad I"m thousands of miles away.

CM asking HHJP a question....how much you wanna bet it has to do with the open mics??? I bet they were reading our blog.

Since tru tv wasn't carrying the jury selection this afternoon my husband hooked up the computer with wesh to the 52" tv. Thanks hubby

But your voting is on your driving record now. Right?

We no longer have to show our voter's registration card to vote but if we don't register to vote, we can still be called to jury duty because we have a driver's license.

As this last break started I was going to write the exact same thing you did!
Good thing I kept refreshing or I would have looked like a copy-cat. lol

But having the courthouse less than 5 miles from me, it's no biggy when I'm called.
I am a stay-home-wife so the $30 a day would be a windfall. lol

But to see sooooo many dismissed/excused, I've never, ever seen this before and I've been going to the Norwalk courthouse (when called for possible jury duty) for over 25 years. I've been there when the room had at the least 100 possible jurors and yet never seen this many dismissed!/excused!

Ok...confused...it says she was booked on Sunday...they reported today that she was transferred this morning...which one is it? :)

She was booked into Pinellas Co. jail at 6:28p yesterday. I saw the booking doc. Will link when I get a chance.

BBM.

Look what happened with that trial, too? The State feels they need to have young mothers on this jury. However, they are exactly the ones who are unable to do this for 2+ months. I'm hoping that the length of this trial doesn't naturally skew this jury towards the Defense.
