Just an observation ~

I've YET to see KC interact in any way with JB. Not even a glance! She even seems to have her chair "scooted" away from him. She's interacting at every available moment with CM, however. Very strange.

And Good Morning, All. :)

Some employers will pay you while you are on jury duty out of vacation and sick pay and minus the $$ you get from the court.

Why did they object? She has an elderly father to care for.

IMO, because she would likely need at some point to leave/care for him and that would cause a disruption/delay in trial, possibly opening another avenue for appeal.

The strategy from the DT seems quite apparent. If they had a strong case they would not be trying so hard to delay. They've gone through the spaghetti and are now flinging utensils and I think the kitchen sink is coming next.

What is casey doin in front of the comp?? Is she helping do internet searches on prospective jurors?? are they allowed to do that?

My wife is afraid of the dark. OMG

I know we are only at 2 men and 1 woman... but I have a feeling that a lot of female potential jurors have a much harder hardship than the male jurors. Women seem to always be the caretaker... children, their elderly parents, etc...

I do agree that the first two male jurors seem too eager, but I really think it has a lot to do with the men having no problem handing the caretaker responsibilities over to the wife/female.

:truce: WHICH part of "hardship evaluation ONLY" is CM missing.......this primary "screening" is to determine if the prospective juror (JUROR, that is!) will "self-report" a HARDSHIP and as such, said hardship will be evaluated in general by the JUDGE! WITH the SA & Defense gang input!:banghead::banghead:

The in depth questions are suppose to be for the NEXT individual voir dire session.....or at least THAT'S HOW MOST DP/high profile panels are handled!

Juror 1042
Male
Will impose a hardship...wife has a fear of night doesn't like to be alone and would be difficult to be off work as he is a production manager.

CM is trying too hard with his good ole country boy Matlock impression. The jury will tire of this quickly, IMO.

  • #732
This guy's wife doesn't like to be alone at night and he is a prd manager at a manufacturing facility, it's tough for him to be gone a week, let alone 2 months.

This guys excuse sound a bit lax. His primary reason is his wife is afraid of being left alone??

No objections to juror being dismissed.

Love that CJBP is on to the defense and is going to start asking (SUCCINCTLY) the questions that CM is trying to ask long-windedly to thwart potential jurors who claim no hardship...

  • #738
Do they have to say now whether they will strike a Juror or do it later?
This first step is to weed out the persons who would have hardship issues serving on extended jury duty. Voir dire is the next step, with fewer jurors to choose from.

I guess KB was right that the jury consultant is not with them? Wouldn't he be there?
