Juror answers marital status question...SINGLE....camera shoots over for KC reaction!

What was the reaction? Fluttering eyelashes?

This juror insistent his company will not pay him - Judge asked for company name............he seems quite perturbed that a large firm would not cover the cost of salary.

Cheney objects - says not enough evidence of hardship financially.

Judge says send him paperwork to get filled out by employer stating they will not pay him. Good call.

I think DT wants the dental guy cause he is single. Not working DT - these aren't KC"s fusion dayz......

I understand the obligation to do your civic duty, but I would resent having to use all my 'personal' days off- which are accumulated vacation and sick days, in order to fund my serving on a Jury if my employer did not pay ..

:twocents: I do agree regarding the resentment :maddening: and then THAT would be a point that darn well better come up in voire dire 'cause I'm betting a juror with a resentment (and boy oh boy, I would be resentful!) would have a "hidden" (or not so hidden!) agenda of "'gett'er done" and GO HOME!:seeya::seeya:

She seemed very organized, maybe foreman/ foreperson material too.

I bet they strike her, she volunteers as a crisis counselor. She knows how the majority of people would handle a huge crisis in their lives.... ie not out dancing and drinking as a rule.

Is that legal for employers NOT to pay employee's serving jury duty??

  • #807
Seems to me CM wants to fill the jury with people who really don't want to be there. :cow:

HHJP: I forgot to tell you that your picture will not be broadcast, so don't worry about that.

-Worry about what?

I just noticed that the female guard sitting near to ICA is chewing her wad of gum!

Agreed.

That would be enough to have hostile jurors.

Hostile until they started adding up all the potential $$$$ from the talk show circuit, movie and book deals, down the road.

Retired. She's a crisis counselor. She could be good for both sides??

Seems neurotic.

Seems cautious, so that could be good for the defense.

However, she has psychology experience so might be good at "fronting" herself to get on the jury.

Is that legal for employers NOT to pay employee's serving jury duty??

My understanding is that it is illegal to fire an employee for serving jury duty, but the decision to pay is up to the individual employer.

Single father of 10 year old girl. Full custody. The SA will want him if possible. I think he will be dismissed for hardship.
