There was some discussion as to whether or not Florida still uses the Electric Chair, Old Sparky, on this afternoons Jury thread.

Yes, we do still use Old Sparky. It was refurbished and reinstituted in 2000.

"In January 2000, the Florida Legislature passed legislation that allows lethal injection as an alternative method of execution in Florida. Florida administers executions by lethal injection or electric chair at the execution chamber located at Florida State Prison."

Surprised, I thought they stopped using sparky when that last one actually "fried".

The possible Juror numbers thus far that have made it are... 1340, 1232, 1398, 1129, 1312, 1019, 1055, 1319, 1407,1251,1429, and 1119 now!

30 questioned
16 excused
2 struck (1 defense, 1 state)

12 through
6 men
6 women

Who did the defense strike if you know?

because she just froze his azz out after she came back from the last recess, she totally would not go near him or look at him in anyway - he was shaking his head in disbelief.

Anyone have a link? When was that?

I'm surprised! I really thought the DT would want him out!

Me too. Maybe they will try to strike him later when they see exactly what they have and if there is no one worse. I don't know. I think I don't want to keep talking about it because if the defense reads here they may find reason to use a peremptory!

I couldn't believe when CM kept at the PJ about letting 100 guilty people go to rather than convicting 1 innocent! Way to go CM - yup she's guilty! Nope she's not going anywhere on your arm!

  • #344
Do we have a live chat room anywhere?

  • #345
IMHO, I would think the DT would still TRY to win, even if they are fed up with Casey. Casey or no Casey, an attorney wants the spoils!

I am reposting this on this thread because I posted it after the bell on the other thread. Any thoughts?

I am not as thrilled with that last guy as much as a lot of you. I didn't like his "none of their business" remark about people who disagreed with him. Unless I misunderstood. If you are trying to come to a unanimous decision, isn't it their business?

If I'm not mistaken, Mister 1119 was referring to how he'd handle being grilled by friends or acquaintances, after the trial, about any decisions/votes he'd made.

Now we have to call them the DDT's Dysfunctional Defense Team.....

With a number of the quality selections today am guessing the DT wishes they hadn't asked for a change...

I can't see a trial start more than one or two days late at this point, especially now that we are on the Perry Plan. Any bets that the DT whines and moans that they'll need a day or more to prep once they wind it back to Orlando?

We get a day to rest up now. It just feels so good that it's sooner than later with this case.

I noticed that also. Most of their questions inferred guilt and moving along to the penalty phase.

None of this surprises me - For me it is the same as everything else...every other time... in her life.

"IT" used to all be Cindy's fault...or George's fault. Now it is JB's fault. And she is really mad this time, goshdarnit.

Could someone tell me what the "I" in front of CA stands for? Too tired to think about it much! Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly, "Incarcerated".

BBM
Did something happen today, ie did they have another little spat?

Nope I think this is a carry over from the original fall out.

I is for Inmate. It is to help us differentiate between Cindy and Casey.

But the real reason is also because some time ago, everyone was acting like this girl was a star, including herself. It is to indicate that she is a convicted felon on trial for the murder of her daughter, Caylee Marie.

Meaning who she really is.

I believe that is correct. And I was wrong.. Sorry for any confusion.

Absolutely noticed...like DT has already resigned themselves to a guilty verdict.
What does that say?

Inmate can choose the chair and then they will use.
