I do feel the reaction we seen in Casey today was not that this is truth as she knows it, but hurt that her daddy wasn't willing to play along to save her life. She expects it of her family.
It's terribly sad.

This observation needs more attention. This was a huge event that happened today and it nearly slipped by unnoticed.

ICA has been able to rely on her family always playing into her games. Today, when the chips were down and her father was under oath in a court of law, he told the truth. ICA was really hurt that he didn't play along to save her life. This was the end of another hallway for her. This was a very big deal.

the biggest shocker for me was the fact that ICA was so willing to destroy the only family she has left, on the very miniscual chance she has of getting off on these charges. I have thought all this time that it was probably an accident that she tried to hide because she had a hot date..then it all spiriled out of control... but now, seeing what she is capable of doing to the ones that love her, first hand... not so sure there really was an accident.

And probably cut her canteen money off!!! :woohoo:

I'm still listening to some of todays statements & right now GA's testimony - because of course I had to work 11 hrs today - and I certainly haven't had time to read everyone's comments as yet - but I have to say that really the only shocking part to me today was the accusation that GA was there with KC when Caylee died

I expected the abuse allegations. I expected the DT would say Caylee died by accidental drowning in the pool. I expected they would accuse RK of some type of wrong doing with the remains. I expected they would come up with some far fetched explanations for some things - but I expected it to be things that were more "abstract" - I'm not sure that's a good way to put it but I was just floored that JB made such a specific statement about GA & KC being there when Caylee died - I think I even expected him to distance KC from whatever accident theory that he was going to give - that perhaps Caylee died while in the care of GA or something - but I sure didn't expect him to present it in a way that put KC & GA in on it together from the time of death - I really didn't

Can JB really believe this? Can an attorney make an opening statement that he knows to be false? Can he really expect a single juror to believe that GA knew from 6/16 that Caylee was dead in light of his early statements to LE which showed him as a grandfather in anguish who had no answers on 7/15 and days immediately following? And it isn't just JB - one would think the entire DT must have agreed upon this as the strategy - how could any attorney put their reputation on the line by supporting such an absurd defense?

The only other thing I found "shocking" today was that one thought that went through my mind was, "even KC deserves a better defense than this" - I would have thought they might have a chance for reasonable doubt by saying it was an accident & KC hid it from everyone - but it seems to me that putting GA with KC when Caylee died will be so unbelievable to the jury that it would actually remove any reasonable doubt they might have (I still worry about a conviction being overturned on appeal for ineffective counsel)

I was really shocked that CA and GA were able to remain composed during the opening arguments. I was also very pleased that they did especially with all the things that were coming out and the manner in which they were coming out.

The whole situation makes me very sad. I even feel sad for Casey. She was a beautiful young woman with a beautiful child and to think that she thought that the best option in life for her was to kill that beautiful child is so very sad. No matter what convoluted thought process was going on there or what caused it at least two people are completely destroyed by it and so many others affected.

I just feel so sorry for all of them...no matter how much of it they brought on themselves. It's very tragic.

Oh and I was shocked when JB made the statement to the jury about how they were all picked because everyone thought that they would be the best people to do the job even though he objected to the entire panel after selection was over with.

There was no need for him to say that at all and it was such an obvious lie on his part.

The biggest shock today was how many Websleuth's theories Baez listed in his opening. I thought I was reading a "greatest hits" thread while he talked. The second biggest shock was how much of a slam dunk this case will be for the prosecution.

I too was wondering how much of his information came from Websleuth's. :waitasec:

That also sorta shocked me to hear that Caylee refered to Zanny with enjoyment, I don't know about you guy's but this has alway's driven me crazy and with George saying that Caylee was looking forward to see Zanny. Who or what was Zanny obviously it was something that was tangable enough for a child to look forward too. What or Who was nicknamed Zanny!!!!!

Sorry not a shocker moment but I would love to hear this come out at trial.

Maybe you already got a reply, but my only thought would be "Annie", KC's BFF.

Geraldo's mustache.

OMG! ITA! Every time JA or JB was at the podium, and Geraldo could be seen over their left shoulder, my eyes were drawn to that ridiculous catipillar on his mouth! :floorlaugh:

Yep, someone needed to teach JB the correct language to use even oral sex would have sounded better. Turned many jurors off right there. I think counseling may have really helped GA and hopefully CA too.

What bothered me the most about the P word in the mouth, he was talking about the mouth of a child, absolutely makes me sick! Wish HHJP had held HIM in contempt with 2 days in jail. Very disrespectful the way he said it.

That I didn't vomit when the DT started spewing their venom!!

There is a part of all of us that knows this whole mess is a tragedy beyond understanding. But, my heart hardens when I think of someone applying duct tape to a toddler so she can't draw another breath and then goes through the extreme panic and suffering until she dies. Add to that the fact that the person is the one person in the whole world that is supposed to love, care for and nuture her in all circumstances, her mother, and I don't have any more softie left in me. But, I do understand your sentiments.

Very well said.

I'm shocked the defense is allowed to spew what they know are LIES in an effort to get their GUILTY client off..And that it's allowed to SLANDER innocent ppl in the process like it's NO big deal! Something is seriously wrong with this & I'm still pissed at the GARBAGE I heard today from Baez!

The biggest shock was that Jose Baez couldn't decide which Websleuth theory to go with so he went with them all....If he had stopped at the drowning scenario I might have given it the notice it deserved but when he started on Kronk and the stolen body, George finding Caylee and not giving mouth to mouth or calling 911..it was over for me. KC's lies get more and more outrageous and if I was Baez I would be ashamed to admit I believed them. Jose's theories have more holes than Swiss cheese and one thing the SA are really good at is dismantling and exposing the DT's fabrications.

I think Bill S is right, it's over. JB took his little tale way too far, too complicated and just plain unbelievable.
My head is still spinning from JB jumping all over the place with his OS, throwing in little tidbits here and there with no rhyme or reason.
It's been a long day, a good night's sleep is in order to listen to Cindy tomorrow.
G'night, see you all in the AM.:seeya:

I think GA was only called first because of JB's accusations in his open. I think that Tony L. will be called next, if they want to go in order of the timeline. Wonder what nonsense JB will try to accuse Tony of. :maddening:

Bombshell tonite (a few months from now): Casey Anthony accuses her attorneys of molestation, rape, inadequate defense...Let's face it...because Caylee drowned herself, because Cindy left the ladder down, George molested Casey (which basically clears her of any lies, responsibility for anything), George wasn't paying attention when Caylee "drowned" (nevermind what Casey herself was doing at the time, at home, with her "work"), George, not Casey, found Caylee, George blamed Casey (not trying CPR nor calling 911) and there...the Defense story ends. I am with wftv's correspondent (schaeffer--misspelled) if this was not a death penalty case before...it is now. She, the defendent has no soul, and no explanation for the lack of one. She is a victimizer who blames the victim. And if ya'll can't see that, I can't blame you...I can only just ask, "where is your wallet/wife/husband/son/daughter/priceless antique/heirloom/etc...at this hour...?"

And I will piggyback on your post to say, "All of KC's former friends, from any group she ran with, had better watch out...bus is a-commin!"

There were a lot of shocks today! I voted for "that George told the truth", but I could have easily gone with the "sexual allegations."

I expected the defense to claim that Caylee's death was an accident and I also expected Casey to claim abuse, including sexual abuse because Ann Finnell included abuse/sexual abuse in her questioning of potential jurors during jury selection.

But................I didn't expect JB to be so graphic in his description of the sexual abuse; I also didn't expect JB to include George in the accidental death.

But the one thing that was a big shock was George telling the truth. Watching CA and GA sit in the courtroom expressionless, I had the impression that they were well aware of the allegations that were going to be made. After hearing George at the March hearings say that he would do anything for his daughter, I thought he'd go along with the defense's allegations.

I'm so glad that I was wrong and that George told the truth! I hope that both Cindy and Lee will also tell the truth! I think the Anthony's attorney, Mark Lippman, is to be credited with helping George to get to the point of telling the truth.

~~~Bolded by me
You know, I almost got the impression that Baez was shocked himself that George did not admit or concede to those disgusting allegations.
Even more so, I think that ICA was beyond shock that George "failed her" by not admitting to them. When she started crying after George testified that he had not molested her, the look on her face, in my opinion was that she knew right then and there that her parents were NOT going to bail her out of this huge mess that she had made.
I think reality set in. Those tears were not because she was reliving any alleged molestation, as I have seen some talking heads suggest, but rather, those tears were because ICA knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that her goose is cooked. Stick a fork in her, she's done. Self-serving tears that had absolutely nothing to do with molestation allegations.
I was honestly quite impressed by the way George stood up for his "Little Sunshine." I was truthfully not expecting him to do the right thing--he surprised me, in a good way.
I am sure that precious baby in heaven is quite proud of her JoJo tonight.
The biggest shock was that Jose Baez couldn't decide which Websleuth theory to go with so he went with them all....<snipped>.
:floorlaugh::great::floorlaugh::great: Right on the money!!!! :great::floorlaugh::great::floorlaugh:
I was shocked that JB has been saying all along..Just wait for my opening statements..Then you will know it all. I thought it would just be more of his BS! Boy, was I surprised. I think it was still BS but why wait 3 years to spew it out of his mouth and hurt so many people in the spewing!
Just a quick note to say I was also shocked at their composure - but apparently according to Lippman, the A's lawyer, the SA shared the shrinks depo about 6 weeks ago, so they have had time to prepare, but honestly, how could your prepare for this. And it explains why Tony P. was saying CA was shooting daggers at ICA this AM when LDB was doing her opening statements. I doubt they expected it to be quite that horrendous.
And clearly ICA was shocked that George was clean out of swords this afternoon.:rocker:
