Defense's sex-abuse claims may force Casey Anthony to testify

"Years of alleged sexual abuse by family members forced Casey Anthony to keep secrets, tell lies and ultimately led her to cover up her daughter's accidental drowning in the backyard pool in June 2008, her attorney Jose Baez said during opening statements Tuesday. Though the state has the burden of proving its case beyond a reasonable doubt, Miami-based criminal-defense attorney Daniel Lurvey said Baez now also has something to prove."

"When you come forward with something so strong, you take on an obligation to prove it," Lurvey said. "If you don't [prove it], you're really done. He's created a competing theory."

"Lurvey described Baez's tactics during opening arguments as "aggressive" ones that created an "all-or-nothing" situation. In order to prove Caylee drowned and Casey Anthony was a victim of molestation, Baez is going to need witness testimony to back that up. And Casey Anthony's testimony would be key, Lurvey said."

More witnesses expected to testify today in half-day Saturday session
Court will be in session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

It's unclear who will be called to testify today in Anthony's trial. Chief Judge Belvin Perry decided proceedings will be held half-days on Saturdays.

The trial will resume this morning at 9 as the state continues to build its case against the young mother accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie.

There will be no court on Monday because of the Memorial Day holiday.

Cindy Cries During Testimony On Caylee, Casey Anthony Angered
Trial to resume on May 31, 2011 at 8:30am

ORLANDO, Fla. --Casey walked into the courtroom smiling on Saturday.
Cindy Anthony was brought to tears as she described Caylee's baby blanket and bed to prosecutor Drane-Burdick.

Casey sat stone-faced as her mother cried and at one point shook her head "no."

Judge Perry called for a short recess, as Cindy walked out of the courtroom, Casey became angry and began crying.

Cindy also recounted lies that Casey was feeding her after Caylee was last seen alive.

State attorneys must decide how to proceed after getting rebuffed late Friday in an attempt to introduce instant messages between Casey and ex-boyfriend Tony Lazzaro, which they say go to her motive.

Tony Lazzaro testified Saturday that Casey sent a text message reading, "If they don't find her, guess who gets blamed and spends eternity in jail."

BOMBSHELL Tonight!

I don't have a link to post yet..Local 6 has not posted the link to the report.

I just heard the 11pm newscast on Local 6 and they have reported that Lee Anthony's lawyer will be filing a Motion to ask the Judge to allow Lee to sit in the courtroom during the trial...

The reporter did not say who the lawyer is.
Thus I am unsure if Lee has retained his previous lawyer or if he has hired a new one..but we shall soon find out..
