:floorlaugh: I live many states north of Florida, on the east coast. I have bamboo in my yard courtesy of the previous owners who planted it over 18 years ago. We have cut it, burned it, poisoned it and still it lives to multiple like bunnies.
I cannot use a shovel to get to the roots. They grow deep in the soil and have these thick runners under ground that take over the yard. The only way we were able to cut a root was to dig around the root and use a machete. It's an ugly and messy process. Yes, you can mow the little shoots and they die out. But for every little sucker you mow, 50 more shoot up in different locations in the yard. I cuss that guy every year. Oh and walking on them, no problem. My grandkids and dogs run all over those small shoots and no one has "cut" their feet as CA claimed. Sheeze.
