I don't believe any fluids leaked out of that bag till the very last when Casey was taking her out to dump her. I think a body part poked through the bag.

OMG. Why do you think that? Weren't there 2-3 plastic bags?

Isn't what Simms does is provide the "Doc in the Box? So she has obviously got some nameless person for Baez to consult while he is up at the podium or when he is listening to JA.
This is stuff we would not be expecting her to do any courtroom work directly with the witnesses, but her job is to find and have on the line, experts for Baez to consult directly, or have Simms ask the questions for Baez to the expert or experts so Baez can use them when he is up with his witnesses.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Bumping my own post for those who didn't catch it and are still asking why DS is there.....

Does anyone know why the Judge wants to see the attorneys at 8:30am in the morning?

TIA

I don't know but a few things come to mind.

DT never turned in the witness report that was on the stand all day. Must get that checked off.

Probably some housekeeping for emotions and backsliding things in.

Maybe more stuff that we are unaware of.

I see your gross story and raise you one.

Been so busy with the trial I haven't had time to tell this:

2 weeks ago tomorrow, I had to take an item back to Walmart. When I got to the Customer Service counter there were 3 registers open, but only 2 employees at those registers. They each had customers. The rest of us had formed a single line up to the point where the next customer in line would then go to whichever register would open up. I was the second person in that line and there was a woman with an approx. 4 year old boy in front of me.

Suddenly, after about a minute, I smelled a pretty bad smell. Thought maybe someone had a bit of gas. Then it got worse, and stayed. I thought perhaps the boy had an accident. The woman and boy then moved up to the middle register, I was still waiting. The smell was even worse. Began to get embarrassed and hoped no one thought it was me!

I paid more attention to a woman at the first register, because I was next. She was taking a long time and arguing (but not loudly) with the cust service rep. 2 other employees were behind her - 1 being a manager. One of those employees was the one that should have been operating the 3rd register. I noticed he was removing 2 large packages of chicken and ground beef and double bagging it.

This woman had actually left that bag containing the chicken and beef IN HER CAR overnight (it had been in the mid-upper 90's all that week) and wanted Walmart to refund her money because she said "the meat was bad to begin with"!! Finally she left, but the manager and the other employees got out Clorox wipes and spray and wiped and sprayed down the whole area.

Dear lord, if those 2 packages smelled that bad after 1 night/day in her car, I can only imagine what ICA's car smelled like after several days of a human being. GAG.

(sorry to tell this during lunch).
I hope I'm I'm doing this post the correct way. I'm not sure if I should click on quick reply or what, but this post made by TiaM made me remember something close to what she heard in walmart... Anyway, I live in Alabama so it gets really hot her during the summer! Anyway, I went to the store to do my grocery shopping at Walmart. I have 2 kids so I usually have a lot of groceries. I asked my husband and my kids to help me unload the car. One of them left a bag with ground chuck in it! YUK! For some reason or another I had to get back in my car to go somewhere. The smell was horrible!!! It was the worst thing I've ever smelled in my life. It took me forever to find the meat because the bag slid up under the seat. I didn't think I was ever going to be able to get the smell out! Thank goodness I did but I had to drive my husbands car for a dew days. How in the world could she get close to her car, much less drive it????

Yes that can be true. But I can bet Dr. Huntington wishes he was never in Florida today.
I'm afraid people like this will never admit that they are wrong or admit to defeat. He will be back for future thrashings.

Hate to pop your balloon, but I'm afraid JB will now be considered a high profile attorney ,perfect for the talking head circuit. :banghead:

No balloon popped here.

Makes no difference to me where JB may or may not earn his next paycheck. I canceled my cable teevee subscription years ago - it was a total waste of money. Nothing but 24/7 propaganda.

IMO, the talking heads are all full of hot air and are only hired to promote ratings & useless products, much like overpaid pro athletes.

I'd rather think for myself.

I am surprise the DT went with someone who had no experience in testifying in court, esp with a veteran lawyer like JA-I think they did a disservice to their client! IMO

Because he was the student of Dr Haskell and Huntington must have felt confident he could undermine him and also he was an expert that was willing not to put everything in his report as so ordered by the court at the request of Baez. A more seasoned expert probably wouldn't have ignored a court order. Just that fact alone and admitting to it in open court has probably ended his career as an expert witness - that will not be forgotten.

Like Dr. Vass and Dr. Haskell?
No. They are hard science experts. The soft science ones are the human behavioral "experts" like a grief counselor or one who may testify how incest abuse victims react.

I agree that just tipping the bag when removing the body in all three bags could have leaked decomp fluid.....

Just jumping off your post,

I see him as a young intellectual. This was all just a new challenge for him. He may be a bit embarrassed but he will rebound. It is just a new way of learning for him. He will learn from it and go further, he will continue to look for new intellectual challenges.

Just to add: DR TH never did answer directly the question as to "have you ever TESTED Adipocere?" He wouldn't admit that he has not chemically determined nor identified the breakdown of the fatty acids contained in a substance and concluded that it was ADIPOCERE. In actuality, he was unable, when reading DR Haskell's report, to pronounce the names of those fatty acids and the components of Adipocer

I noticed he couldn't pronounce them as well. Just added to my thoughts that he did not know what he was talking about. He was in waaaaaaay over his head but just kept charging ahead.

This guy is used to being at the top of his class -- youngest to be this, youngest to be that -- but he just is not ready to hard ball it with the big guys. But wanted to make us think he was.

Desperation.

I must get rid of this body before I get caught.

Another gem.....JA: will non food items turn into food if it gets wet?
TH: Well.....thinking,thinking,.....squirming.......assuming it's not dehydrated FOOD, then the answer would be no.
Dehydrated Food is not a non-food item,is it? Did he say he had a Ph.D.?

The defense had plenty of expert witnesses who won't be testifying.

IMO they agreed with the State's findings. Those left are ,well, just what you described.
Just think of how "over" this case would have been if there wasn't testimony that could be "bought" (for whatever reason: fame, recognition, whatever). I'm really not putting this all on Dr. Huntington. I think this entire case has gone on for too long for the wrong reasons.
My father was a criminal defense attorney and I once asked him how he could defend someone who was "obviously" guilty. He told me that if someone's guilt is that obvious then the prosecution knows it too and the best thing he could do for his client would be to negotiate the best sentence possible. IMVHO...this is what should have been done 3 years ago when even some of us might have believed it was an accident.

You know what - it was worth to sit most of the day watching Baez and Huntington to see Jeff Ashton get up there and in under a minute wipe that stupid smirk off Baez's face and to finally see some fear on ICA's. More than worth it.
