I believe that's what you wrap the cord around to hold it in place when you lift the blinds.

You think they can be lifted? I thought about it too, but there is no such thing on the other side. Could it work both sides simultaneously?

Yes, most likely a mezuzah and even for the "lesser" devout. We bought our home from a Jewish couple and wanted the blessing/mezuzah to remain with the house, so we paid for the new one for their next house.

Thank you much for the info! I just could not figure it out.

My first thought is it's a mezuzah. Devout Jews put these inside the doorways of their homes. Is Mark Jewish?

Devout????? MS????? I know you didn't imply that he was devout since you simply asked the question about him but I thought it was mentioned on a thread a few months ago that he was a non-practicing Jew. Maybe he did things like this for show or to attempt to one-up TS whenever he could. I just can't give the creep any credit or benefit of the doubt.

My ex had one. He was not devout Jewish but it was "what you do" in his opinion

There is a crime scene photo that has really stuck with me and it's a note BS wrote to Teresa saying that carrots ran out for the dogs and here's some so that you don't have to get. She signed the note Love Bonnie with the word Mom in parentheses. Would Teresa not know who Bonnie is or why did she put the word 'Mom' in parentheses? It is almost as if she knew someone besides Teresa would be reading that note!! Just my observation!

Insightful observation indeed!

Or maybe they simply had a rocky relationship and the mom in parentheses was more of an invitation or question? Kind of like BS's way of reaching out or trying to make peace?

My intuition (haha!) of BS after the last doc release is that she is so self absorbed that she doesn't realize the hurt/pain that is going on around her. I was raised by a mother like that ( who I love dearly in her older age in spite of her faults ) and they are totally oblivious because they only function on gratification at that moment. Self preservation and happiness for themselves. The "I bought you a brand new pair of pants so that should make up for the time I wasn't there when you needed me" type of thinking. Compare that to TS saying BS moved down to help with the kids but all she did was buy my dogs carrots type of scenerio. Not saying that's the type of relationship that was going on just saying its a possibility. And as far as BS letting CWW and AW stay in her house at the time of the funeral instead of her daughter. Been there, done that....not exactly the same but pretty darn close. BS has her own mental issues that some folks can see a mile away. The (mom) as written almost as a question or afterthought falls right in line with her other inappropriate activities. Classic self obsorbed, self serving asking for forgiveness after the fact. And that's usually only after someone pointed out to them that they were out of line since they usually don't recognize it themselves

Yes, probably another one of his farces. From reading and hearing document interviews, VI posts, & document photos, he is definitely not devout.

Since MS' close-up mug-shots came out. How many of you zoomed in, etc. to his eyes to see if there is "anything" there?
I'll admit that I have and I was truly trying to find something.
However, we have to assume mug-shot lighting for photos is probably not that sophisticated.
Anyway, just thought I'd throw that question out there.

I thought that maybe BS' friend wrote it for her then realized it should read "mom"?

My mother-in-law does that on all her notes and cards--like she thinks maybe my husband won't know who it is if she only puts down her first name. :)

The first lines of Bob Dylan's song, Blind Willie McTell, are: "Seen the arrow on the doorpost, Saying, 'This land is condemned, All the way from New Orleans, To Jerusalem.'"

In an essay on this song, Princeton professor Sean Wilentz wrote: "The arrow on the doorpost that the singer sees when the song begins is a sign. It might protect the home inside, much as doorway signs of lamb’s blood protected the enslaved Israelites in the Passover story. It might mark the household as righteous and observant, like the Jewish mezuzah, affixed to the doorposts of the pious in accord with the holy injunctions in Deuteronomy. But it certainly signifies that the land as a whole is condemned. Which land? “All the way from New Or-leeans to Je-ru-sa-lem,” Dylan sings. The land where blacks were enslaved; the land where the Israelites ruled only to be cast out and oppressed, and where Herod, in trying to kill the Christ child, massacred the innocents: these lands and all the lands between them, the whole world over, are damned."

I'd read Wilentz's analysis of the song years ago, but never looked up "mezuzah." What can we say about a creep who falsely asks God's protection for his home, then hires a hit on his wife? Lines from Dylan's final verse apply: "Well, God is in His heaven, And we all want what’s his, But power and greed and corruptible seed, Seem to be all that there is."
