Defense's entire argument appears to be to assure the Judge that no insurance proceeds will be paid out. I guess this is to assure the court that he won't have funds to flee?

Seems to me a better argument would be to argue that he is innocent of the charges and the state's primary evidence is a felon's plea deal as proof
