Last paragraph of the post I was responding to. But anyway - just re motive. I think I initially was just pointing out that catalyst (the cup of coffee denied) and motive can be two different things. There may have been a catalyst on the night (it may have been something internal to the killer, not anything to do with an outside event or maybe not, or that particular night may have been in an actual plan) but motive/the reason might be something else entirely. I agree with everything you say in this post you just wrote MOO
ok, the what motivated him to act on that specific night? Yes, I was speculating, and I agree it could have been something internal to the killer, part of his plan, or a specific outside incident or incidents. As in I simply don't know aside from believing the killer had a reason for acting on that night. Everything in me screams that something led up to what happened -- something was going / had been going on that made the killer decide to act and to specifically target that house and the people in it.

Just seeing your post. I got it now - thank you! I agree the reason is most likely complex and unfathomable (to the rest of us). Actually I do think it was complex - unlike the road rage type of thing I mentioned in another post. See the everything in me screams sentence in the above paragraph. I think that whatever was or had been going on somehow led to the murders. At the very least I don't think it happened because he's misogynistic, or upset because he didn't have friends, or was turned down for a date. I think there was more to it. Something deeper and something darker. Just MOO and I could be way off base.

BK left his house on 11/13. Basically late on Saturday night.
He drove to the WSU rec center, which naturally was closed. From the rec cen parking lot he got on the road to Moscow.
MOO his web activity late 11/12 and early 11/13 might offer clues to his state of mind that early.

That's an excellent point.

I've half wondered if he was doing meth and was experiencing meth induced psychosis. But the other half of me doesn't think that's the case.

Hopefully they found something helpful in his web activity!

While I think there's a less than 1% chance of it happening, what would happen if BK's plea tomorrow is "guilty"?

Would or could the state seek the death penalty at that point or would that not be an option?

This case has intrigued me so much from the beginning. The Murdaugh Murders led me to this site and this case has kept me here. I just cannot wrap my head around what made someone want to do this. Walk into a known party house with 6+ occupants in the middle of the night with occupants still awake. I do believe he was triggered by something, but I have no idea what it could’ve been to cause such rage that you drive 15 minutes at 3AM on a Saturday night to commit murder with a knife. Multiple murders at that. It just doesn’t make sense. I really want more answers just like everyone else. Theres GOT to be ALOT more to this story that LE is holding close to the vest. Just like the Murdaugh story. Financial turmoil brought to light why AM killed his wife and son. However, what causes a 28 yr old grad student to brutally murder these kids when there’s no known connection. Someone make it make sense. That is all I’ve got to say until we have more info. Hopefully some questions will be answered tomorrow but I fear we will be speculating for awhile.

Also, I will add this. He could’ve left the Pullman/Moscow area after the murders and it wouldn’t have been as suspicious. Tons of the student body didn’t return after Thanksgiving break. He’s from PA. Couldve gone home and never returned. He literally stayed and his car and himself were sitting ducks for competent LE. Did they ever have his license plate? I don’t think that’s ever been confirmed? He did change his tag days after the murder in Washington which I don’t understand and a major red flag. It’s like he kinda wanted to be caught but yet, maybe he kinda didn’t.

I totally agree with you on all points.

But Chief Fry said he believes BK acted alone.

True, but Chief Fry said some other things that turned out not to be true (BF & DM on the first floor asleep is the biggest thing I can recall.) I could see LE keeping it on the DL if any other potential parties were suspected to be involved. I'm not saying that there are, but i'm not sure that Chief Fry's denial would mean much on that point. IMO.

His birthday is in late November. IMO, his car registration had to be renewed. Many states link car registration to your birthday and even the ones that don't, some people choose to link the two so they can remember to do it. If his car registration from PA expired and he was now a WA resident, he would have had to change his plates.

"Before the slayings Kohberger was pulled over twice while driving with that Pennsylvania plate: in Moscow on Aug. 21 and at Washington State University in Pullman, where he was a Ph.D. student, on Oct. 14, according to the affidavit, which said his Pennsylvania plate was set to expire on Nov. 30."

Thanks, y'all for advising about KG's bedding still in place in her room. Wasn't aware of that info, and will mark as moo. I believe it but couldn't locate a link. :)

Updated

One of the University of Idaho students slaughtered in the November quadruple homicide had recently moved out of the home where the murders took place, but returned the day before the attack to see her former roommate and attend a party, her parents said.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, was set to graduate college early, with an IT job lined up in Austin, Texas, her parents, Kristi and Steve, told Dateline.

Goncalves had recently moved out of the three-story home in Moscow, Idaho where she had lived with her best friend 21-year-old Madison Mogen.

I think the change in license plates indicates he was trying to camouflage his car so to speak…make his car blend in with everyone else’s; also says he planned to come back to school. Didn’t know he was being fired at that point. JMO

I can't work out how to link to it from my phone, but there's a photo taken at night from when they were processing the house where K's room is lit up, and through the balcony railing, her bed appears to have a white comforter and pillows on it. It's in the photo album linked in post one of every thread.

MOO
@iamshadow21 Thank you! It was good to review some of those photos.

What to expect during Monday's hearing

Kohberger's arraignment is set to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 22. During this hearing, the judge will reiterate the suspect's rights and the charges against him. The judge will likely ask him to enter a plea for each charge.

In Idaho, only two pleas are recognized: guilty or not guilty. If a suspect refuses to enter a plea or fails to appear at the hearing, the court will enter a plea of not guilty on the suspect's behalf.

If Kohberger pleads guilty, the court will order a presentence investigation.

An investigator will compile a presentence report, which contains information about the defendant that will assist the judge in determining an appropriate sentence. These reports are confidential as they contain detailed information about the defendant's personal life, social history and other sensitive details.

Prolific author James Patterson will take a rare detour into true crime with a new book focusing on the brutal murder of four University of Idaho students.

Patterson, along with journalist Vicky Ward, will “draw from dozens of exclusive interviews, extensive on-the-ground reporting, and copious court transcripts,” publisher Little, Brown and Company announced.

I’ll likely look up the Cliffs notes to all of the books announced so far. Hopefully we’ll get most of the details regarding the crime during the trial and I can stay away from Patterson’s book factory.

I’m just not really fascinated by the whole “can’t believe PhD student did _______” thing. Billionaires, Actors, Athletes, Rocket Scientists, Doctors, Lawyers even Prime Ministers and Presidents have been accused of murder all over the world.

There’s nothing particularly fascinating about this loser.
