Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger is expected to appear in court on Monday for his arraignment and to enter a plea on first-degree murder charges.

The 28-year-old graduate student is scheduled to be appear in a Latah County courtroom for an arraignment hearing in front of District Judge John Judge.

Last week, a grand jury indicted him on four counts of murder and one count of burglary. That meant a preliminary hearing previously scheduled for June has been canceled. If he enters a not guilty plea on Monday a proper trial date will then be set.

It would be nice if he pled guilty, and iirc there would be no painful trial ?
Unrealistic, I know ....

Thoughts for the parents of the victims.
BK took so much from those families !
Even though none were parents themselves yet, he took the future children they may have had, spouses, careers, and a full life of just doing and being.
Vile, selfish man.
Imo.

Agree, it would be nice for a guilty plea, but no way would he ever bypass attention toward him. Speculation, but he thinks he is the star. This is all about him in his warped mind. Of course this is in my opinion, only.

The joke is on him, it's all about the victims and their families and all their loved one, and that crime will not be tolerated! Justice will be served.

So, I’ve read a fair amount of statements about the media. As someone who holds a BA in Journalism, I have a few comments.

1. Lumping all media together is unfair.
2. A J-school grad wouldn’t be caught dead working for The Daily Mail, the National Enquirer or the like.
3. Even in school, print media was the more reputable source. Tv has always been about ratings.
4. Social media is a form of communication but there are no standards or guidelines for those playing reporter.
5. Like many other industries, Journalism has become vertically integrated, i.e. large corps have bought up the smaller papers and become “for profit” entities focused on the bottom line.
6. Today, one reporter will write a story and the rest will reword it and publish under their own byline. So, the reader thinks she has multiple sources confirming the details, but she does not.
7. Journalism, to me, is the search for the truth, and it is a sacred responsibility. It exists to hold public figures accountable, alert the masses to danger, provide equal access to information.
8. Social media figures that are reporting on crime may have good intentions but they do not have the rigorous training to prevent bias, confirm sources, or an organization to hold them accountable.
Some of these have interviewed sources, that if their stories are true, have put their lives in danger.
9. No offense to anyone; obviously I’ve been “triggered”
10. I will say that websleuths does a heckuva job in trying to eliminate the noise in pursuit of the truth.

Kohberger was indicted by a grand jury on Wednesday. The preliminary hearing scheduled for June was canceled.

I’m here at the Latah County Courthouse for Bryan Kohberger’s arraignment, set for 9 a.m. Pacific time. There’s two additional hearings after the arraignment regarding the media’s motion against the gag order and the defense’s motion to compel discovery.

Respectfully, I disagree. Handling someone's underwear is too creepy to be a prank.
I think there is lots of underwear handling on college campuses. I find it a pretty big reach to assume that BK travelled to Pullman/Moscow and was the person who went through this student’s belongings. I have read police logs over the years from colleges and weird stuff happens on the regular. If an investigative reporter could link a BK visit to the area with the same timeframe, that would be a different story. Right now, it’s interesting but unconnected.

But I thought it was verified that BK didn't arrive in WA until late July or August??
Yes, we know that BK and his father drove across the country for BK to begin his studies at WSU in July. But Dateline producers were speculating that since BK was studying remotely at DeSales during the spring 2022 semester, he could have been anywhere during that time.

FWIW I think that BK's thesis questions reflect his own personal musings. Because he was aware of the choices he was already making....

Very empowering, emboldened to select the person you intend to victimize.... IMO he did that.

Chance encounter. Virtually no encounter. Literally a virtual encounter, notable or not. Who knows how or why he chose her (if in fact he chose M, which I think he did).

Did he visit campuses ahead of applying/being selected?

We saw a brutal slaying, as if out of nowhere.

But I think there was a long, slow build up....

Like kickboxing. Training and practice -- countless hours before game on.

I suspect he was on the prowl in Idaho for longer than we think.

I wonder where he was during that search for evidence? Was this on a dateline episode, or where can I read about it? It sounds so surreal. It's Christmas, and the family is openly talking about their suspicions and doing searches of his car. Wow!!
Yes, this was on the latest Dateline episode. Although it was mentioned at the top of the show, it wasn't really discussed until almost the end of the show, IIRC. They said something to the effect that one of the family members (a sister, I think it was) wondered if BK could be involved given the proximity of WSU to U of I Moscow, and the white Elantra, etc. but the father disagreed. However it was stated that one or more family members did do a search of his car while he was home in PA before his arrest.

Unless he had done his prowling on social media before he arrived in Pullman, once he knew he was planning to attend WSU, which Dateline said was around March or April 2022, IIRC, when he knew he was accepted into the program.

For anyone not choosing to or getting a chance to review Angenette Levy's "live from the courthouse" video, she advised that once BK pleads not guilty there will be future court dates (of course we all know that); however, video was informative, and she talks about other matters of the case, and explains events of getting into the hearing(s). She also, thinks that they can live tweet from the hearings. Additionally, the Honorable John Judge is a good guy, according to her source.

What the families of the victims must be feeling this morning. It's been such a long time coming. When the charges are read and BK has to answer, it will be a big step in the process.

Thinking of them this morning as the legal process moves forward to bring justice for the victims.

Well, that tells us quite a lot, doesn't it?

I keep wondering if he started prowling and planning or maybe even killed around his PA home for practice to the big murder. Sister suspected him why? What’s with that ?
