Yes. And it still raises questions in my head. I am not a specialist at all. Having set up several internet wi-fis, i know that the devices in the house live their own lives. I now wonder if: 1) the easiest scenario - BK knew the password and would log into wifi before, so his phone automatically logged into a known wifi. Maybe some passwords are super easy, and BK, being interested in such things, could figure it out. 2) there could have been two wi-fis. Not impossible if it was a party house. One, private, and one, public for the guests. BK would use the public one before, and his phone recognized it.

Only his phone was dark during these hours, this is unusual. Maybe, when he approached the house the morning after, with the phone being with him and on, the phone made a handshake?
The handshake could also have taken place during his 12 other nocturnal trips but I wonder how recently he was at the house before that night. I'm guessing there is a limit to how long the router would keep that information. I would think that, as he came closer to "that night", he would have visited more often.

It's so horrifying to me to think of them just living their lives, unaware that someone is creeping around outside, close enough to try and join their wifi. Remember that Kevin Costner movie Mr. Brooks? The scene where they are driving down the street, looking at potential victims... I totally saw myself in that woman washing her car, unaware that someone is talking about whether to kill her or not. My skin still prickles when I'm walking alone at night. I get that same sick feeling whenever I think of his "visits".

I wonder if BK will eventually answer all our questions himself. Tell us exactly what he did and why. Boast about it even. If things pan out as they probably will he has nothing to lose. But then he's such an odd bod, who knows what he will do.

The easiest scenario is that his phone was simply within broadcasting range of their WiFi.

That eliminates the need for BK to do anything at all. He could have been completely unaware of their WiFi’s existence and this could still play out this way.

No username and password needed. No split WiFi needed. No hacking whatsoever.

Totally random question here after all this time...

is it in any way possible that BK was on some kind of a mission but went in the wrong house?

or BK literally had not selected any house, was not stalking anyone, but went out that night determined to make mischief and went in the house fairly arbitrarily?

Had the dog not been locked in the upstairs room, chances are it could have created an immediate problem for him and then he'd have been standing inside the home with a barking dog jumping at him and several residents coming to confront him... all seems a bit odd.
This is just my personal thought, but his multiple times circling the area makes me less apt to think the house was chosen arbitrarily, especially considering the additional dozen previous times he had been in the general vicinity of that house. Jmo.

If it was random, why not break into a house with only one or two vehicles out front, or something out in a rural area with less cameras, or a house that was dark instead of circling for a half hour possibly waiting until just lights out, when the residents hadn't even been to bed more than a few minutes?

The dog is a curious factor, imo. If BK had been stalking them, maybe he knew about KG's new vehicle? Or maybe not. Maybe he thought KG was out of the house... and her little dog too.

Jmo.

MOO It was Saturday night and everyone seeming to have fun but him made him mad.
But killer thinking is so self involved hard to know unless he gets interviewed someday.

Maybe that was his ordinary Saturday routine - going out grievance collecting.

Wondering how often or whether he hung around the places where coeds congregate. I've said from the beginning that I think he's a watcher. Back to the corner, watching. As you say, collecting grievances.

It was Fall Family Weekend at WSU and something was going on at ISU I believe as well IIRC. It was said to have been a very busy weekend in the communities.

Maybe family weekend was a trigger for BK? I still wonder what his relationship with his sisters was like?

I have often wondered the same. The stealing of one of the sisters' phones, the IMO "grievance collecting", and that "revenge motive" that BK seems to have. Speculation, IMO, JMO.

Maybe he was simply motivated by the idea of rape. A lot of predators and murder-rapists or just straight up rapists seem to be - that would be the vast majority of the crimes perpetrated by men against women on this site.

Especially if (unproven) he had developed some form of link / attachment or obsession / stalking of one of the young women, probably M. And he thought she's in the top of the house alone. Maybe he had a whole lot of ideas of things he wanted to do that may or may not have involved taking her life, never mind everyone else's.

Not in any way making excuses here but it is entirely possible BK was sexually motivated (plus power and control) in the same way lots of rapists and murderers are and there isn't some huge 'incel' theory or vengeance issue.

If I remember correctly, KG was keeping this new car a secret and would not send M a photo of the car, emphasizing that she would show it to her live. I am unsure what happened after that: did she eventually post a photo of the car to any social media (and who could have seen it) or not.

Kaylee did post a series of photos that day about being in Moscow, so either BK was focused on another victim (afaik others had not posted of KG on that day, so it could be that BK knew that KG had moved out but had not seen the pic of her being back that day / had not understood she would spend the night) or BK knew she was there.

Also, I was away for a while, did any more information come out in regards to this?
Investigators found an ID belonging to one of the victims was found in one of Kohberger's residences.

I don't know but your source, the SUN, sure got this part wrong!

"Taken on 11/6," the post said, which was just a week before the murders occurred.

Below that, they uploaded a series of pictures Kaylee took in a photo booth with Xana Kernodle, 20, and Madison Mogen, 21.

Orig source that got it wrong: Heartbreaking photos found in Kaylee Goncalves' car 6 months after Idaho murders

I believe it was her 2 friends from Silver Lake area.

Kaylee is seen smiling and making funny faces inside the photo booth as the trio of girls looked carefree and happy. In a video posted to Blababooth.com the girls, two who are unidentified, are seen being silly as they decide what faces to make at the camera.

The border of their photo strip reads: Best Friends Forever.

The four photos were taken on November 6 at Silver Lake Mall - exactly one week before Kaylee, 21, Maddie Mogen, 21, Ethan Chapin, 20, and Xana Kernodle, 20, were brutally murdered

There is also a short clip of the 3 girls in the booth acting silly.

Agree. If he spent half as much time developing social skills maybe even working with a therapist we wouldn't be where we are. Clearly he wanted to connect with people it's so sad even for him to choose this path. Too many people blame others and don't realize it's them or figure out how to use their own resources. JMOO

If he gets an offer to write a book with someone like Catherine Ramsland, he might do it. JMO.

In my experience, with a specific family member, they actually went to public places to 'people watch' as a form of predatory behaviour. A kind of stalking that you can most likely get away with. Think that guy at the park with a book or newspaper who's actually watching the women jogging, or the children on the jungle gym. It's less 'sad loner not knowing how to connect' and more 'predator viewing today's menu and fantasising about which ones he'd choose and what he'd do to them'.

I saw a particular youtube vid where they were pointing out that this media depiction of BK being a loner weirdo may not be true and there was plenty of photos and footage of him at social events and also looking at ease.

Obv cannot link here as not verified / authorised and conversely, there's been substantial report that he was 'different' / a bit odd... but let's not forget, no-one is going to come out and speak favourably about him in the circumstances.

My suspicion is that he's not neuro-typical and that can be a lonely painful place for any of us. However, the vast majority of us don't become murderers.

If he gets convicted, I think he's a potential Jeffrey Dahmer type who will tell all.

How did you find out the difference between what they were doing and genuine people watching?
I love people watching and am a photographer so also like to take candid street photography.
However, as someone with my own difficulties and eccentricities, I'd be gutted if someone thought I'm being a stalkery weirdo.

I have always wondered if the fact that he studied with Catherine Ramsland played a role in some way in his future actions. Not causal, but that he was somehow influenced by that course. And if he wanted the kind of attention from his professor like the book she co-wrote with BTK.

As a photographer, it's okay to take the photos, but you actually need consent from the individuals. Many professionals take the shot, show it to the individual and ask for the consent or they delete it. I think it comes down to how you're viewing others. It is not our right to "feed off others". If you're getting an energetic hit gawking there's a point to question. Intent and consent is key. JMOO
