4 years later, what do we think of the case / verdict now?

Everyone who knew what kind of mom she was... That's the thing, most of the kids who testified that fca loved Caylee, took care of her, was overprotective, etc, had no idea what kind of mom fca was because they only knew her for about a month and/or spent very little time with them together... Most only saw Caylee a couple of times, for a short period of time....

I still remember George's FBI interview where he admitted to losing a lot of money and having problems with his marriage because of it (I think he claimed it was a scam, but I also heard it may have been gambling), but then he went into how Casey affected their finances. Casey was robbing them all blind.

According to George, Casey had cleaned out Caylee's college fund and was stealing from Caylee's piggy bank.

Yeah, what a great, overprotective mother. We all saw how she spent Amy's money during her "time of desperation." Cindy was so broke she had to dip into her 401K account and she still refused to do anything about it. I really think Casey stealing from her sick grandfather again was what really brought that situation to a head.

That stuff about Casey stealing from her grandfather should have come in. I realize that it was labeled an "unrelated offense" but it happened the day before Caylee disappeared. How unrelated could it have been? Couldn't they have gotten Shirley Pleasea to testify to it? If the prosecution made any mistake, it was going too easy on the rest of the Anthonys and allowing them to gloss over that situation.

I think they were afraid that if they pushed too hard, the jury would see them as picking on the poor grandparents. Unfortunately, they failed to notice the jury was gung ho to crap all over the "poor grandparents." They severely underestimated the gullibility of the jury and didn't expect them to believe Baez's entire opening statement without any proof whatsoever and then use it in their deliberations.

Funny how the jury was so willing to hold Casey's parents accountable for everything Casey did, yet they were unwilling to hold Casey accountable for what happened to Caylee.

I mean, really? The jury thought Baez was professional? He was basically bullying and taunting a man over a suicide attempt. Then there was that quack who broke Caylee's skull using a five dollar saw from Walmart on it. He made more sense than Dr. G?

Actually, she did graduate. She just graduated late because she was half a credit short or something. I remember hearing that during the trial. Not that I'm impressed with her or anything.

No she didn't. At least by the time of the trial

So she's registered a photography business and she's "advertising herself" by driving around taking photos with her 67-year old PI? Um. Ok. Good luck with that.

I can't find the document anymore, it was in the discovery, but this blogger mentions it here as being part of the discovery for around April 6, 2009.

A document that states Casey Anthony did not graduate on time from Colonial High School. The document states Anthony did get a diploma and likely went to summer school.

https://calvininjax.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/anthony-asked-for-sedatives-when-caylees-remains-found/

I'll keep looking for the actual document.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending her by any means. I think she's a lazy, selfish monster who will never make it as a photographer because no one (apart from her sleazy attorneys and bodyguard) will hire her.

I'm just a stickler for accuracy.

By all accounts FCA loved her???? WTH. By most accounts FCA never wanted her to begin with, foisted her off at every opportunity, did nothing to support her except pretend to work, never took her on a play date--too busy pretending to work and texting all day, etc. etc.

George was NOT there.

And just to state the obvious, an overly protective "mother" would not have spent 30 days ho-ing around after her child's death, even if it was an accident, which IMO, it most certainly was not. Not even Jose Baez was OK with the knowledge of that baby thrown away like garbage and left by herself to rot.

Maybe I am missing the history. I remember there being evidence he left before she did. I remember the testimony being that she took care of Caylee well.

Is there a link anywhere that has the documents from the case?

I completely agree with you that Caylee did not deserve that ending.

In his interviews George stressed that they tried to get her to go back offered to help her get her ged. Not one if her family members said she did. Believe me the people on this thread from this time read every single document and watched the whole trial. Including the evidence our own people found that she looked up "foolproof suffocation" the day Caylee died

Hey Sky... I just checked the sticky thread that had the links to all the docs, and apparently docstop closed in December, so... some other ways to find what you need is to do a search of the forum using key words. It's all covered in the forum... The first link below (docs thread) doesn't have many working links, but there's a list of the interviews with the link to the Websleuth thread that discusses it... Btw, the sticky threads are located on the top half of the Caylee forum pg and have a lot of great info in them... One of those is the Resource Links, Case Calendar, & Time Line thread, which is the second link below, it provides cell pings, a break down of each day, among other things...

Found it. It was right here on Websleuths. But maybe whoever made that note in the margin read the code wrong or something.

Or maybe Casey found a way to forge it. Or Cindy and George were just lying again.

Scroll down to page 7.

Good grief I just was searching all the forums here because I vaguely remember somethink like this. I found this post which mentions the notation that she must have gone to summer school:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-04-06-Document-Release&p=3557928#post3557928

However, during the trial it was never said that she got a diploma. In fact disucssion during the trial was that there was testimony she never graduated. And like I said, George, Lee and Cindy all said she never graduated. Weird.

I recently decided to re-watch all the trial testimony (i'm on day 8) to test my opinion now that we're a few years removed from the media circus and want to share my thoughts if you would oblige me.....

I have always been of a minority here that thinks/thought Caylee died due to Casey's negligence not murder and that Casey went in to coverup mode (duct tape applied after the death to make it look like a stereotypical movie-style kidnapping) because she feared the repercussions that would arise after everyone learned that Caylee died while Casey was doing something else (such as playing on the computer).

I think Casey was immature, didn't want to parent Caylee and got by for two years doing the absolute bare minimum for Caylee. I don't think anyone can dispute that either. Casey got credit for the bare minimum from outsiders but her parents knew better and were calling her on it regularly (which lead to some serious familial discord - espesh with George who had no business questioning how anyone lived their lives with all his faults - thus Casey's hatred of him and ability to throw him under the bus for her wrongdoing). I think Casey's mom was a terrible enabler but I can't fault her for it. If she didn't parent Caylee, no one would have. I'll never believe she thought Casey was capable of murder. And I'll never believe Cindy did anything more than most of us would do with our own daughters who we thought troubled but not capable of murder at the moment she was facing the death penalty. Cindy told the truth until her daughter was in the gallows.

I don't know how Caylee died, I've thought about drowning, overdosing etc....but I know a dead Caylee was in Casey Anthony's trunk and that Casey put her there. No one else had Caylee but Casey. I believe Casey had a normal reaction at first to finding Caylee dead. That flurry of phone calls to Cindy at 4pm-ish will always be the time Casey discovered Caylee dead, to me. I also think that everything would have gone different if Cindy had answered. Casey would have lied about how the "accident" happened but none of the Zeniada stuff would have been necessary. It would have been lies about how Caylee was somehow at fault for her own demise right under Casey's nose. But no one answered and Casey had a date...and that's what made what happened next happen. It was easy to go from an accident to a coverup because Casey wasn't all that in to Caylee to begin with. Once the narcissist was relieved of her burden, she actually felt relief and was able to party just fine.

None of this is rocket science or all that difficult to follow. Casey was the one in charge when Caylee died. Casey is responsible for her death. Casey should be in jail. Perhaps not for life but definitely for however many years are ordered for negligent homicide (or whatever it's technically called). Because if not for Casey's negligence, Caylee would be 11 this year. The jury failed Caylee.

That all being said, the testimony is still overwhelmingly in support of guilt 4 years removed and Baez got so freaking lucky in this trial. His cross-examination style should be considered an insult to those jurors' intelligence.

Not to be obtuse, but I want to ask Casey why she didn't put any more effort into the disposal.

I mean she couldn't be bothered to go past the corner of her block?

I'm sure she would stare back at me with her trademark blank expression when I asked!:gaah:

Sane or not, I hope he's sterile. :silenced:

She didn't graduate. All of Rick Plesea ' s emails to Cindy are on the Acandyrose site and in one email where he is chastising Cindy for enabling and covering up for Casey, he reminds her that she has always pretended that Casey graduated, when they all know she did not. IIRC Cindy gave her a graduation party and accepted gifts, knowing full well she had not passed. They all attended the graduation ceremony also.
Cindy is crazier than Casey! She protested to Rick that Casey was a virgin, when everyone at his wedding was shocked to see she was very pregnant..... You cannot rely on Cindy to ever acknowledge the truth about Casey.

I agree with most everything you said but one critical thing- I have always thought and still do that Casey intentionally gave Caylee an overdose of Xanax, before she Chloroformed her, then Duct Taped her. This was intentional. She never wanted Caylee. Caylee was just a pawn to her to get sympathy and to be used to manipulate Cindy- not to have a burden to take care of and someone who was actually old enough to tell on her.

Great post although I disagree about the accident part. I believe that the mysterious hearsay fight did in fact occur after Shirley Pleasea informed Cindy that Casey had stolen from them again and this time she wanted to press charges.

I think that Casey never came home that night. I think she waited until her mother left for work to go back to the house.

I think, however sad it may be, that Cindy cared so much about her reputation and what people would think about her that she helped obstruct the investigation into her granddaughter's disappearance out of embarassment over the altercation that took place.

I think Cindy went in and out of denial. First of all, she left that message to the police saying "Casey must have had help. She's not that smart."

Cindy also told one of Casey's friends to stay away from her because she "was a sociopath."

We know Cindy helped obstruct the investigation. When they asked for a brush of Caylee's to get her DNA from hair strands, Cindy gave them one of the dog's brushes!!!

Oh yeah, I remember that. That was just pathetic. I really began to dislike her around that time because of how she was trying to control the investigation. I remember her chewing the police out and trying to put a guilt trip on them for going to visit Shirley Pleasea (who she alleged was too old and weak to be bothered) to question her during one of the police interviews.

That interview and the message she left for Tim Miller made me somewhat understand why Casey hated her so much and complained that she was "always trying to control her and her father."

Did Cindy think the police were stupid? And did she really think she could tell them what to do?

She should have been charged with obstruction of justice and later perjury.
