4th graders who flunk reading in Idaho town have faces marked

I have no doubts that my own child would have been one of the children who aced the test or whatever with flying colors but if I found out he had participated in doing something like that to another child, i would be furious and he knows it.

I'd rather have a slow child or child who struggles academically but has compassion and empathy tham to be the parent of a smart jerk. Any parent who defended this or was not outraged is a pathetic excuse of a human.

Aren't student grades confidential? They were (by law) when I taught at a university.

In addition to being inhumane, marking a failing student's face is an announcement of his/her grade and a violation of confidentiality laws.

I wonder if there could be criminal charges of assault or battery against the teacher? The students were touched against their will by others who were encouraged to do it by a person who was in charge of them. Teachers are in charge of the kids and to abuse their power to use some children to attack others. I assume the teacher didn't do the writing but I would think misusing her power and and control over some kids and used it against others.

This makes me so mad. Every child learns at their own pace. I would be all over this if this was my child. They are not only being marked now, but for the rest of the school life for them will be unfair because of this. Maybe that teacher should take a few extra minutes and see what she can do to help the child failing. I swear I am so angry. You should not be punish by not making a goal. Should always be the other way around.

I am sad for the posters posting over there school grade years.
