Notes all council conducted themselves with respect and professionalism. That is becoming rare in our courts, he says.

Judge thanking those who helped this case. #Rafferty. Judge says support staff helped him emotionally through "long and difficult trial"
I guess it was all about him after all. My bad.

Heeney thanked the jury, Crown and Dirk Derstine, #Rafferty's lawyer, and we're done.

Court officially closed.

Rafferty not eligible for parole for 25 years.

Rafferty has a sad, lonely stare in prisoner's box.

I am quite shocked that he actually spoke, not shocked that he stills maintains his innocence in light of everything, what a coward.

i am missing something. Where did he say that he is innocent? Didn't he say sorry and that he is ashamed?

#Rafferty says he is guilty of many crimes but he stands by his innocence in these ones

Yes, he's clearly a coward. It's my opinion he continues to maintain innocence of the charges in order to protect his @$$ in prison.

Derstine's role was to ensure MR had a fair trial with very, very slim chance of grounds for appeal. That was accomplished IMO. Watch some of Derstine's comments...he says a lot by not saying much at all.

He said he's guilty of many crimes, but not the ones he's accused of.

The world disagrees

I really don't know what to say... I have no words really.

Enjoy the rest of your life MTR b/c you will be in jail for the rest of your sorry life... it's ok if you don't want to admit your guilt, better and safer for us with you off the streets.

  • #218
Well I did not suspect that he would get up and say "Ok guys, you got me, I did it". However I did not think he would still proclaim his innocence. Wonder who he thinks is still buying his **** anymore?

  • #219
If he is so damn sure he is NOT GUILTY, he should have taken the stand and told us EXACTLY what he did that day and had alibis to back it up.

Oh, wait...he still would have been found guilty.

BBM

What other crimes? I hope LE has active investigations ongoing into his 'many' crimes other than the three he's just been sentenced for.
