Somebody smack me... I feel bad for her. :thud:
She loves her Dad, even if the rest of the world hates him.

This may very well be a wake up call for her.
This man has destroyed so many people. :tears:

Alina Powell just came out of the courtroom.
Called #StevePowell a "great dad." Says her family was convicted 2 1/2 yrs ago.

DNews Crime Team ‏@DNewsCrimeTeam
Said she didn't know what to think yet about the case presented against her father. Had tears in her eyes.

Videotape THAT, a-hole.

Post Of The Day! :woohoo: :floorlaugh:

The difference in the sentencing is whether they allow him to serve all of the sentences at once or if they make him serve each one out before starting the next one. Hopefully they will make him serve each one out.

I forget which is which, but the terms are consectutive and concurrent.

Actually I feel sorry for her too. Or at least I will, if she is able to come to some understanding about her father now that she has heard the evidence. She keeps defending him, that will make me think that maybe she is too far gone, too entrenched in what she learned from the father.

That's why I added the things that would contribute to the death penalty.

Also, IMO, all they have to do is go to the mine shaft that was burning and they'll find Susan's body.

BBM. I agree. I just don't think it's recoverable after the destruction the mine received. But I'm pretty certain that Susan's body is out there.

Okay, I'm feeling sorry for her now too.

But can she pu-lease take down the website? :please:

IMHO She is classic Stockholm Syndrome, steve groomed her for a long time. Remember, as a young teen, she was in the motel room with him on a business trip when she found the 🤬🤬🤬🤬 mag under her pillow. If the house is lost with steve in jail and she has nowhere to go a women's shelter would help her but she has to ask.

ETA: I don't think she knows how to be any other way than she is now.

Good day for justice! Thank you for those who reported on the trial to allow those of us who could not keep up with it.

Bless Susan, Charlie, Braden, the Coxes and those who truly love Susan and miss her.

~TCO~ doing a happy dance!!!

YES, please! It may be what is keeping her occupied rather than any drastic action but it is just an extension of the poison that is steve powell. We saw it in josh and now we see it in her. I hope she stays away from the Coxes.

:rocker: :woohoo: Lock him up and throw away the key!!!!! :jail:

I thought the 🤬🤬🤬🤬/motel incident was from the other daughter, Jennifer??

And while I may feel for her being raised by SP, and losing her bro and her nephews, and her family collapsing around her.... she is now an adult. And she has to decide..... does she follow in the rest of her families shoes or does she decide to join the rest of society. Those options are hers. Other family members have gone down, but she doesn't have to go down with them unless she chooses to.

Okay... I feel better now if Kimster can feel bad for her too. :woohoo:
I'm a little worried that this concussion has made me more compassionate towards people I'm not fond of. :what:

What would you do if someone called you tomorrow and informed you that Steven Powell was your biological father?

Even if she DOES come to an acceptance of her father... it may take a long time.

You have to accept that you came from this person who did these evil things.
Yet somehow figure out that you don't have to be evil yourself.

It is an extremely difficult situation to be in.
Alina didn't ask for this man to be her father, but hopefully she can accept it and be BETTER.

Pee Wee Gaskins daughter sat and talked about... described the murders and rapes her "Daddy" committed. It was shocking at first.

Whatever your opinion of Pee Wee's daughter... she knows what her father did, even knew his victims... but still says, he's her Daddy.

Maybe one day Alina will at least reach that point. I think if she did then she would be much more likely to succeed.

This is an article with Pee Wee Gaskins half sister:

This video has interview footage of Pee Wee's daughter. She talks through the whole thing. It will make you go :thud:

You are right it was Jennifer; we don't know what was done to Alina. It was Alina who went with her mother and then returned to steve's house. It is correct that she is chronologically an adult but is she one mentally? I've wondered why Jennifer hasn't reached out to her. Alot of questions with her but clearly she is damaged.

The only ones I feel sorry for are Susan, her children, and her parents. Can't muster up any more for the rest of the Powell family...just can't.

  • #276
I will reserve feeling bad for her until she makes an honest attempt at understanding and moving forward in a non-Powell manner.

  • #277
It isn't that I feel sorry for her, I just think she needs help, mental help, psychological help. I do believe that she knew some of what josh was doing that horrible day when he murdered the boys and didn't, still won't, say anything. I also would not be surprised to hear she does something drastic after today.

Thank God the jury delivered a just verdict!

It is very refreshing to see a jury unafraid to send a guilty man to prison. I just hope that the judge has the sense to keep him there without any possibility of getting out ever!

Finally, at least one good thing has come out of this awful case.

imo

A guilty verdict on all 14 counts of voyerism today in the case of Steven Powell and his child-victims is an against-the-odds validation that few survivors of child sexual abuse receive. It is, however, not an assurance that justice will ultimately be served in terms of consequences for Steven Powell, as so many on this forum who care about Susan Cox Powell and her family are well aware.

Several steps along the process involving sentencing and rights-to-appeal in criminal convictions have the potential to significantly reduce the hoped-for maximum sentence of 50-70 years (if all counts were served consecutively) and even eliminate the need for sex-offender registration (if the conviction is invalidated). The pre-sentence investigation will play a heavy role in determining if Steven Powell scores high as an offender, which would require a longer sentence, or if his lack of previous criminal convictions and charges results in him being treated as a "first-time offender," receiving a minimum sentence of incarceration (with terms served concurrently), with credit for time served awaiting trial. Is it possible he will be offered a Sex Offender Sentencing Alternative? http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.94A.670

At the sentencing hearing, Powell's victims, their family members, and Powell himself will have an opportunity to make verbal or written statements to the judge as the final sentence is considered. Each court date and motion has the potential to be continued for weeks or months.

If Powell appeals, which seems likely, part of or his entire conviction could be overturned based on court rules and interpretations of laws that do not negate his guilt, but which could be seen to have compromised his right to a fair trial or a reasonable sentence. The entire trial can be retried or dismissed and wiped from his record as if nothing ever happened (e.g., because an appeal court finds that without fingerprint evidence it was unreasonable to assume that the digital discs were Powell's).

I wish today's guilty verdict was the end of the trail for Steven Powell, and that his obsession and victimization of Susan Cox Powell received the same validation as his voyerism against the two neighbor girls. But it very likely won't be. It seems the closest we can get to solace is knowing that he will be planning his next connivances behind bars while he awaits sentencing and appeal results.
