5 killed, including 4 high school seniors, in AL car accident

Looks like Niall McNellis, the guy from Alabama, was originally from Gainesville, FL. I've also read comments that said all four boys were wearing their seat belts. Again, very sad and my heart goes out to the parents.

This post shows the highway...no "divider" that could stop a car from crossing over, just an expanse of green grass between the two roads.

One of the TV stations interviewed an eyewitness to the crash, he said the van driver passed him, then suddenly swerved across that rather wide median and hit the car with the students in it, and he said he never saw any brake lights or any other sort of evasive or corrective action. It made him wonder if the driver, despite his age, had a medical issue that suddenly struck him. Basically all the vehicles hit each other at full speed, he said. I saw video of the scene, and the vehicles were completely totalled, so I can believe that they hit at full speed.

(ANGOLA) - The four Angola High School seniors who were among five people killed last Saturday in an Alabama traffic accident will be remembered at two locations on Thursday. A private memorial service for current Angola High School students, M.S.D. of Steuben County faculty and staff and the boys immediate families will take place Thursday afternoon in the high school gymnasium. Police and school officials say the service at the school will not be open to the media or the public. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at a community calling for the four students which will be held on Thursday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the Athletic and Recreation Center on the Trine University campus. Funeral services will be held on Friday and Saturday. Matthew Riley Zimmer's service will be at 10am Friday morning at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. The other three services will take place at Fairview Missionary Church. Matthew Roe's service will be at 2:00pm Friday afternoon, Alexx Bauer's service will be at 10:00am on Saturday morning and Evan Weaver's service will be at 2:00pm on Saturday afternoon. Arrangements are being handled by the Weicht Funeral Home. Complete information on services and memorials can be found at the funeral home's web site, www.weichtfh.com.

The community really needs everybody's prayers for strength, as the next 3 days are going to be extraordinarily hard for everybody, with 4 funerals and 2 memorial services within those 3 days.

Wow, reading through the obits for these 4 young men, the old adage that only the good die young seems to fit. Honor students, elementary school volunteers, kind, caring. What's wrong in a world where we lose such upstanding young men so young and tragically and are saddled with the likes of Acala and James Hathaway. Sure doesn't seem fair. More prayers to these families. I can't even imagine their grief.

They completed their life missions, and now they will be immortalized as a result of this. And they have received their eternal reward for their lives.
