FWIW, I do not think Kyle Clinkscales resembles Mr. Kyle. I don't normally comment on possible matches, but after reading the circumstances behind his disappearance AND that his SS# was used so many years after his disappearance I'll add a comment. It appears that Kyle Clinkscales is a victim of identity theft.

I had thought about that same possibility with Mr. Kyle this weekend. It occured to me, if he was reported missing and local LE FOUND activity on his SS, they would have notified the family he was willingly missing, no? IF that where the case, how would that work? Mr. Kyle is apparently a 'missing person', what if someone has his SS and is currently using it, thus it is believed he is willingly missing when in fact he is not. I would guess if local LE was able to determine that, his case would be closed, right? And I doubt, or don't know, how anyone would research willingly missing persons because their SS is in use so case closed. I wouldn't normally consider that as an option, but with this case being open for 5 years now..... I guess anything is possible.

(above partially posted in the possible match forum.)

I can see why it would be easy to reach the conclusion that activity on the SSN might denote voluntary missing. The practice of most agencies (probably all agencies) is to run a DL check and to have some kind of contact-phone or otherwise. That is how they separate out ID theft from something else entirely. For example: Tammy Lynn Lepperts ID was stolen and being used by someone in IL-FDLE pulled a DL photo and there was a resemblance. They compelled DNA-no match. Pure ID theft including DOB.

I have a question about a rule out. I found someone that looks like they could be a good match, except that they have already been ruled out based on eye color. The guys eyes are listed as brown, but what if they were hazel, and were more green than brown?

Douglas Edward Meer has been ruled out, but he has several things that fit:

* He is the right age range
* He has similar physical attributes, except for the eye color (weight, height, nose shape)
* He attended University of Colorado and lived in Boulder in 1983.
* On ancestry.com I found a Douglas Meer who lived in Indiana in the 1990's. (Him or a father?)
* He had had a motorcycle accident, which could account for all the scars BK has.
* His family would not be actively looking for him because they declared him dead in 1990.

I realize that obviously BK's eyes are green/grey but can we really rule someone out completely just on possible eye color? What if his family was incorrect and they were hazel/green not brown?

Here is a side by side.

I would like someone to ask Mr. Kyle if Cowboy Bob, Janie, Sammy Terry rings a bell. If he knows who these people are he is more than likely from Indiana.

Thanks for your work on this! I personally think that Meer's nose is too rounded and big compared to BK's sharp angular one. JMO. However, lol, never say never any more. It is worth a call to see if Douglas has any fingerprints, a fingerprint card or digital, or dentals....and of course whether or not his eye color is correct.

I looked at the weather thread and started thinking about fire ants and when they might be tempted to swarm someone given the time frames that are involved with BK lying on the ground or stumbling on a nest and being swarmed.

http://www.extension.org/pages/Living_It_Up_in_a_Fire_Ant_Nest:_Colony_Location

Fire ants will come out of their nest at night to forage to food, especially if the temp is between 70 degrees and 95 degrees. I am leaning towards BK being at the BK during the night simply because he would have been discovered by someone (probably) during the previous day-which was August 30th. Now I could be completely wrong-I do not have the movements of the employees on that day and whether or not they tossed the garbage at regular times. The temp on the morning of August 31 ranged from 77 to 73 degrees between midnight and when he was found. IIRC Kentjbkent indicated that he would have been able to be seen from the drive through, so it is hard to imagine that people would have ignored an unconsious man next to a dumpster especially given his lack of attire...which is why it is hard for me to believe he was in his prone position during August 30th, exposed to the sun.

Am I making any sense??

  • #348
Yes it makes perfect sense. Perhaps he was behind the building more and crawled to where he was found? Even so, would one day exposure to the sun have caused all the damage he had? I think you are correct. To me, it almost sounds more like he was exposed to the sun for several days--perhaps on or new water? I wonder if there are any ditches or small waterways near the site?

Is there anyone here who has already established contact with Boulder PD for BK? I do not want to step on toes...

No toes here!! I have a copy of the LE flyer that went out a few weeks ago; I have not posted it on WS because it has all of my personal info on it, and I have no clue how to redact it before I post it lol!! If Boulder wants a copy, you have my email address, so I can send it to you...

I have been "stuck" so on a whim today, I went to the Burger King location and took many photos of the dumpster, parking lot, distance related to back door, etc as well as surrounding areas in the hopes that it would help give people a better visual of where BK was actually found.

What I have not found in this forum yet is whether or not anyone knows if BK was found INSIDE the "corraled" dumpster, or lying outside of it?

Am sending entire set of photos to Believe and will let her decide if she thinks any may be of use!

I think that the 2004 Burger King was torn down.
There are pics of the area from the Nat'l Enquirer article.
I know that roselvr had some. Could check her site.
Also, I think he was found in an enclosed dumpster site.

Am I remembering this correctly?

No, the Burger King went out of business but is still standing. I live here in Richmond Hill. The pictures I took today were taken at the now abandoned Burger King. It is still standing, but the front is obviously overgrown quite a bit.

I parked my vehicle where the drivethru speaker was, then got out on foot and took photos to show how far away the dumpster was from the drivethru, distance from backdoor of Burger King, and also took pictures of the surrounding area (of dumpster).

I also took photos from the front of the restaurant facing the truck stop to try to give an idea of the distance to both. There is a video online of the area on one of the Richmond Hill websites, so I tried to take pictures of things NOT reflected on that video (link to video was posted in this thread a while back).

By the way, this dumpster "area" was actually a cinderblock corral with two large wooden gates (one is now in open position.) I also took pictures of the inside of the corral area and it is large enough and appears that it probably held two metal dumpsters.

By the way, I read on this forum today that none of the responding officers are on the RHPD anymore. That is incorrect. S. Potts is still on the force, and M. Albritton and D. Strickland are still detectives. I think my next step is going to be to write up some detailed questions before I sit down with them (I know M Albritton and D. Strickland very well, and have an acquaintance with S. Potts)

I stand corrected.
I am so glad you took the time to go and take pictures and then bring them here. Thank you.

And you are willing to meet with the police officers, that is even better. I would think it is helpful if you all are friends.

No, sorry! I deleted because it came out so BIG (first time trying this) so I uploaded photos to flicker. Try this and see if it works...

========================

Kentjbkent: I just took a look at the pics. Excellent job.
I have not seen Burger King from that angle and the longer
view shots.
It certainly does show how far back in the lot that dumpster area
was.
And that the dumpster area is away from the employee's back entrance.

I remember when I saw a pic of the dumpster, it was quite tall. I thought maybe the
persons who did this, tried to get him into the dumpster, they failed and left him beside the dumpster.

What is behind the dumpster area? Is it a vacant lot? Does it cut through to another fast food complex?

Again, thank you.

No, it is surrounded by a grassy area that and scrub brush, bushes, etc. I have a pic here that I did not include. I will go add it now. (This pic will also show the closest nearby restaurant McDonald so you can see just how far away the next business was.

I was alone or I would have taken a pic with a person standing next to this cinderblock corral. It is quite tall (much taller than me!)

What I don't know as of today (2009) is whether the wooden doors of that corral were always in an open position (one side) back when the restaurant was in business (and just never paid attention when I used to go there) or whether or not they were kept locked, but I am going to suspect that they were NOT locked. I plan on adding this question to my list for Mike....where exactly was BK located....inside the corral or outside the wooden doors.

Still catching up reading on this forum and just found the pics from Enquirer with BK standing by the dumpster and am curious as to whether anyone knows when that pic was taken. I noticed the "backside wall" looks to be metal, but this corral is made of cinderblocks? I am also going to assume that the Enquirer photo was taken a long time ago if you compare what the inside ground area around green dumpster (which is no longer there) looked like then and what it looks like now!
