Once again Mabel,I thank-you so much for your post. The fact remains that laws were broken.
The law that was broken, that caused the accident, was the fact that the truck driver failed to apply his brakes and stop.

It's not the mother's fault on HOW the accident happened or the situations the occured. I do not agree with her choice to let a 15 drive with just a learners permit. I understand it may not have mattered WHO was driving. I think most were talking that a 15 year old should not be driving without adult supervision. I have total compassion for this poor family. It sounds like it is the truck drivers fault and I hope he goes to jail for a very long time, if not forever. Bless those CHILDREN.

Thanks for reading my posts.:o
Hi Julia, you are right when you say bless the children. They had no control of their destiny.

I agree, all 15 year olds are not at the same level of maturity. Perhaps this girl was very mature, perhaps not. That doesn't change the fact that her mother illegally provided the vehicle for her to drive and illegally allowed all the other children to ride with her. If I tell my daughter, Go ahead, break the law, go for a ride with your friend who is driving her mom's car without a license and without an adult as the law requires" - am I responsible if something happens to her? Yes, I am. Even if it's not the young illegal driver's fault, my daughter should NOT have been in that car.
It all comes down to fault.

No, they had no control of their own destiny. But their mom did. She failed.

Are you inferring that the mother was responsible for her children's destiny?? If your child gets killed in an accident, through no fault of his, or hers, while they were somewhere that maybe they shouldn't have been, will you then just say, well he, or she, shouldn't have been there?? or would you place the blame on the person who caused the accident???

You need to stop bringing my child into your warped views. My child is alive and well.My child was not placed in a car full of children with an unlicenced driver with a car full of others. The point of my original post was responsibility. This also includes common sense.Your posts are harassing.

Yes, that is the law that was broken that caused the accident. But the fact that there were so many lives lost - that was the mother's fault. If the 15 year old was driving there should have been one adult with her in the car. No one else. If the mother had been driving, there should have been no more than 4 kids in the car. If the mother had obeyed the law, and encouraged her daughter to do so (as any responsible mother would) at least some of the children would be alive today. I have to wonder how this woman who apparently felt the laws don't apply to her, who encouraged her children to break the law, was able to adopt so many children.

Just because he doesn't agree with you does not make his opinions warped.

I have a right to my opinion just as any one else.I do not have a problem with disagreement.I do have a problem with my child being brought into this when I respond to a post.

Of course you do. I am just shocked that you called his opinion warped just because it differs from yours. You said his "views were warped". That is rude and unkind. It is so unlike you to post in this manner. You could have asked him to leave your personal child out of his comments. Nothing wrong with that but instead you attacked his "views".

I can't pass judgement on the mother, as I am not walking in her shoes. Who is to say, that any of us, placed into her exact situation, would not have done the same thing. Every family, can't afford to buy a 10 passenger Ford Expedition, and in rural areas, which this obviously is, people do things a little differently. The 15 year old girl, was going to drop the children off at their home two miles North of the accident, before she went on to church. Doesn't exactly sound like the wild and crazy teenager from other parts of the country, does it??

Judge not, lest you be judged!!!

I know how a Mom feels about her kids. I always say...talk ugly to me or about me....slap me if you must(LOL) but don't you DARE mess with my kids! :D I know that you almost ALWAYS post with kindness. We all get carried away sometimes.:o I know I do when someone posts something about a prisoner whining about his/her treatment. It makes my blood BOIL! I want to smack the loser murderer in their ugly face. Then I have to go back and sometimes erase the post because I have said some horrible things. I really have little pity for people who kill or harm others. :furious: :furious:

Sorry, Buzz, but I'm gonna do battle with you again ;)

I can say that I would not have done the same thing. I've lived in rural areas. I did not allow my children to break laws. The laws exist for a reason, to protect people. No, everyone can't afford to buy a 10 passenger vehicle, but if this mom isn't able to afford a vehicle in which to transport them all safely, why is she adopting them?

No, the girl doesn't sound like a crazy teenager. But the law doesn't say underage unlicensed drivers can haul a bunch of other children around illegally and unrestrained so long as they go to church afterwards.

Judge not? At what point do we draw the line? Perhaps under the same circumstances we'd all be Joseph Duncan. Should we give him a free pass because of that?

If this girl, with the car load full of children, had caused the accident, what would you be saying about the mother right now? It didn't happen, but it very well could have.
