8/20 Ron takes plea, will testify in Haleighs trial

  • #241
And could this same reasoning apply to Ron? If he has information he has withheld for 19 months, could he not be charged with not cooperating? If and when he testifies and gives info, wouldn't that prove that he didn't cooperate earlier by withholding that same info for so long? Not sure I'm making sense, sorry.

Actually, you are making way too much sense on this. How could there be any other way to view Ron if he deliberately withheld vital information on his very own little girl's death? IMO, this could actually put him lower than anyone involved in this entire case, lower than low, lower than an snake's belly. It is really going to be interesting if, in this century, we actually find out what Ron offered up in his plea deal.

I could be wrong Lone but aren't those two charges the more serious of the five that were dropped in Ron's plea deal (on 8/20)? Why they would enter the date that the charges were officially dismissed under "bond posted" - I couldn't tell ya... JMO ~

That is what is confusing me. Why on earth would this be posted under "bond posted"?

I was wondering if what he has to "offer" is something he is saying he just learned that would help them in Haleigh's case. If he knew stuff 19 months ago or even 6 months ago, that would be with holding information in my eyes. So maybe what he is giving up, is something he says he "just" found out, or just realized went down?

I've got to say that that very notion gives me a huge case of heart burn. How do we know that Ron will not just say that he heard on JVM or on the Nancy Grace show that "Joe was the one who took Haleigh and threw her into the river"? How could he hear anything different than what we have heard since he has been in jail? This is not aimed at you Bern, I'm just ranting in general. I just can not see where he can look "better" by coming out with new information that he has been keeping to himself when it involves his very own daughter. How monsterous is that?

Oh I agree and I know what you mean, I just think he has to cut a deal and in order to do that, he has to have something to give up and keep himself from getting in deeper. The only way to do that, is say that what he knows, he just learned...... not that it is not below low to cut a deal on your daughter's grave, just well, you know.

RC's sentencing on his three remaining trafficking charges is set for 9/24. When Tommy was sentenced, the judge commented that it was very clear that Tommy "is a drug dealer" and proceeded to sentence him to more than the minimum mandatory. I hope to see a bit of fair and impartial judgment on the part of this judge when it comes time to pronounce sentence on Ron. Because, if Tommy is clearly a drug dealer, so is Ron, and since Tommy got a higher sentence than he or his attorney were expecting, so should Ron. IMVHO.

I hate to appear so negative here but it was not clear to me that Tommy was a dealer, was it to anyone here? It is clear to me that Tommy is definitely a drug user though. I think he likes the drugs too much himself to sell many of them to others. However, with Ron's background, this judge had better see the light, so to speak or a bunch of people are going to be really pizzzzzzzzzzed, IYKWIM.

I know, I know...but it is what the judge said. It was his reason for giving Tommy more than the minimum...because he "is a drug dealer." It had nothing to do with lies or anything about Haleigh; it was all because he was dealing drugs in the judge's opinion.

So, will see the judge be fair and impartial and treat RC just as harshly, or will we see...something else?

:waitasec: Maybe TS/RC agreed to pay the bond amount as part of the plea deal agreement to get the charges dropped or maybe just to pi$$ us off...(jk on both suggestions!) Seriously, perhaps it's because there isn't a "charges dropped" category to post it under... :waitasec:

Personally? I think we will see something else. Ron will come out looking like a grieving father who was willing to stop at nothing to find the one who took his Heart. He was willing to spend the rest of his life behind bars if he could just get Misty to tell him what happened to Haleigh and where she is.

Exactly on all points Lone!! (even the case of heartburn)

Here is my feedback on your question. ron has backing from all the media that he is not involved in Haleigh's demise. He also has the sympathy of many who believe him to be a grieving father.

When I called the newspaper to question an obvious intentional quote of Greenwood that he hadn't said in a long time, the tone was clearly, "We stand by the fact the LE stated a year ago that ron cummings is not a suspect". Greenwood has not made that statement in a year, but they printed it to imply he just made the comment recently...very misleading. Regardless, they were adament he is not guilty. I was surprised to hear them be so bias in favor of ron cummings. I asked them if they knew the hours ron worked and they told me they don't care about them and repeated LE says "rom cummings is not a suspect"...end of conversation.

This may give you some insight into the tone of what is going on there.

If the reporter had been worth their salt they would have asked if Misty, Tommy or Joe were suspects and he would have said no. Nobody has been named a suspect.

I think so, too. There was sarcasm in my previous post but it was lost in the translation from brain to fingertips...

Anyway, I am about 95% convinced that corruption exists in LE there; RC coming out of sentencing with the minimums will convince me the other 5% plus tell me that the corruption runs deeper than just LE. He has skated for years and all indications are that he will do so again.

Sad. Sad. Sad.

At least Junior is out of his reach for now and I sure hope Crystal has the backbone to fight RC when he tries to regain custody.

Really liked your post krkrjx, it all makes sense to me, except for one thing.
I don't think Crystal has the backbone for very much. Not nice? But, I do believe true.

Ron, IMO, is what I refer to as an extreme self preservationist. He held on to his information, almost too long, but not too long, in LE's opinions... so, I don't look for him to be charged with withholding jack. In other words, Ron got out, while the gettin' was good. MOO.

Maybe he's smarter than he looks.:croc:

Well, we've got 90 years left in this century.:D We may all be senile (sp) when it comes out. Our great grandchildren will have to explain it to us.

I don't know if I am just unusually worked up tonight about this case, but I am just so :furious:. My LE son-in-law came by for dinner tonight, and I was fussing so much about LE, I though he was gonna pull his gun on me. I think he wanted to arrest me.

Speaking of corruption, this is bringing back memories of the TV show: Dukes of Hazzard, and Boss Hogg that "owned" the city. Except those characters were way more normal than some we are seeing here. MOO

BBM...You are so right. I don't think that JO or TC or whoever the guilty party is just came to visit RC in jail one day and confessed. How could he have gotten new information sitting in jail?:waitasec:
