Well the age of marriage USED to be 15, but that was abolished, now the age of marriage is puberty, which this country decided was 9.

So yes, a 10 year old girl can be married to a much older man and it would be legal.

This is not a stable country with Human Rights violations. It is also a very, poor country.

The ONLY reason that this termination of marriage was allowed was that the girl was 8 and not 9 therefore she had not reached the "minimum" marriage age of 9.

If she was 9 or 10, then she would not have been granted a termination of marriage, which is different then a divorce. The girl sought out a Judge, to file for her own and plead her own case to terminate the marriage.

I completely condemn the act of adults having sex with children. It is undeniably wrong. Yemen is wrong to not have laws against this type of abuse. But I don't believe that this country has more pedophiles than we do. It's wrong to characterize this country as such.

We used to have the orphan trains that took children from the cities and put them with farm families. They got not only free child labor, but the pedophiles were hidden in the mix. Our policies here haven't always been in the best interest of the children, either.
