A German student has broken a European record after growing an 88 stone pumpkin.

I'm assuming stone means pounds, cause I don't think you can grow a pumpkin made out of stone.

Hi Mushy.... a stone is heavier than a pound - so it's way more than 88lbs.. we need someone to do the math

I never heard of a stone in describing what something weighs. Maybe I need to get out more.

A stone is 14 pounds - so that pumpkin was over 1200 pounds!

Thats why I like getting weighed in England... saying your 9 stone sounds much better than 126pounds :crazy:

That sure is a big pumpkin! Think of all the pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds you can get from it.

And pretty good looking too, as compared to most very large pumpkins. They are usually misshapen, and have a mottled color.

They are having the annual pumpkin weigh-off at Half Moon Bay, CA today. Heaviest so far is 1147 lbs. but there is at least one heavier one that hasn't been weighed yet. Stay tuned.
