Oh I'm so glad I didn't go to the hearingg. The clerk told me on the phone that Alonzo Fernandez (not WW!) was set to appear at 9 am. No way to make that since I got into the airport at noon. Good thing since the Judge wasn't even there

I'll try to make the Sept 16th.

While I was in Phoenix today, I went to the memorial site and took some pictures and videos and left a memento from all of us. It was a copy of the picture that somebody on here made (sorry I don't know who). The pretty one of Tawni with the ray of light behind her head.
I signed the back Love Websleuths and dated it. I hope that's ok with everybody.

PS Tomorrow is Tawni's birthday.

It's a tuesday, I have no class, and I've already informed my bf that he'll be the one to wake my daughter for school that morning cause I'll be hitting the road at 6-6:30am.

Are the hearings definitely open to the public though?
Here is an email from Detective Lancaster:

William Walker’s hearing was this morning at 9 a.m. However the Judge hearing the case was not available so his hearing was reset for September 16th at 9 a.m. at the Pinal County Courthouse in Florence Arizona. The case will be heard by Judge Vanderpool.

OK everyone in the area-mark your calendars!!!!

That's awesome that you did that. Did you go to the memorial site that her brother put up at the accident scene, or where her ashes are (I've read that the family had/was having her cremated).

You ROCK! I'm quite sure the hearings are public. But after looking around last night, it doesn't look like the Pinal County court calendars are public. Maybe a phone call would be in order before you venture out???

Vask, I went to the mile marker 173 accident memorial site. I would like to go to the cemetery or whever her ashes are. Anybody know where they are at?

Vask, here is the correct ph# 520-866-6000. The clerk(s) I talked to (I called twice) were very patient and helpful to this old woman here. I have never navigated the courts system and had lotsa "dumb" questions. I believe the hearings to be open to the public but be sure and check first. It's a looooong lonely drive out there. So.... they are the one's that can give you the correct answers. I will meet up with you in a few weeks if I'm back from Texas in time. I hope I hope I hope I am. If not, thanks for offering and keep us posted if you go.

:blowkiss:And you're all very welcome!!! :blowkiss:

You may want to give Suzi Dodt a call. IIRC, they were having some trouble locating her marker. Then again, she may have been removed from the cemetary as I believe her family wished to have her cremated? Believe will know...In any case, thank you for doing what you did today. Means a LOT to me!:blowkiss:

Hi Fairy, Thanks, good idea! I will check before I go. If they found her and had her cremated, I guess there is no need to visit the cemetary.

Hi, guys-Tawni's mother should be in possession of her ashes which means she is now in GA. Suzi and the funeral home located Tawni over the weekend last week and Deb signed the consent form for cremation.

There is now a fight over where she will be scattered/buried...

Thanks GiGi, I'll give that number a go. The first one Believe gave me (the main number) was transfering me to Vanderpool's district office (the 2nd number I posted) since she was who I had listed as overseeing the case, but I could never get them to even answer the phone.

If you are down here in time and feel like going, I'm not sure where in AZ you live at, but maybe you'd want to look at hotels in the area so you're not too far away from Florence come morning.

I think her brother Mike should have his sister's remains. He was the one who cared enough to look for her!!! The mom sure didn't give a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 about her daughter. I am sorry but parents like that make me sick!!

I don't disagree.

Mike was the one who set out to find her, despite knowing the horrifying possibility that she may be dead. He's the one who should have her last remains and put her where she would most be at peace in.

I would think Deb/Mom would be the last person that should have her ashes :(

But seeing as she has them now, perhaps she could share them. She could keep some of the ashes and give some to Mike Sr, Mike Jr. etc.

When I die, I am to cremated and my ashes will be split up. Some of the ashes will be spread in the desert, and some of the ashes will be sewn into stuffed teddy bears for those who "wanna keep me around" :D

Maybe Tawni can be shared with those who loved her?

You guys nailed it-Mom is going to be attending the hearing and splitting up the ashes with Mike. It was funny-Mike Jr. called me to complain that his mom refused to give any ashes to his dad and I said to Mike (this shows you how tired I am) "What's she going to do, weigh them? Give him some of yours or split them up yourself-she will never know." He realized that this was completely true, so they could send some to MA as well....Good gravy.

I so totally mean absolutely no disrespect AGG, or to anyone else, but doesn't it seem weird to anyone, I mean, the whole idea about splitting up ashes? I mean, I realize that the soul is gone and ashes are, well, geez, only ashes, but it always seemed to me like splitting a body into parts? Am I weird? I don't know, I guess I understand the whole idea behind it. With ashes you actually CAN share them unlike a body, but IDK, never mind..... But the teddy bear idea is cool!

Anyway, thanks a bunch for going to the memorial site and leaving something from WS AGG, it was a wonderful thing to do!
