90-Year Old Woman Shoots Self Inside Foreclosed Home

If you listened to Bush a while back, you all are supposed to be investing in the stock market to gain assets to make up the difference.

Just wondering if anyone has seen updates on Mrs. Polk? I read last Friday that she was critical condition... just wondering if she's doing okay.

The situation in this country is so very grim. I recently freecycled some household goods and a very sweet couple came to get most of it. A friend of theirs was in the hospital for a medical emergency (wound up being cancer), and while she was in the hospital, her apartment complex evicted her and her early teen son, put all their stuff on the curb - all within 15 or 20 days of being late on the rent.

I let the couple take everything on the list as they were helping her get a new apartment, furniture, dishes, clothes, etc. It broke my heart - and it happens every day with foreclosures and evictions. It always makes me think "There but for the grace of God, go I".

I know one emergency could put me out on the street - though I am lucky, and have a large and caring family that would do anything to help in that situation. But I also know they are all in the same or near same situation. None were unfortunate enough to take out sub-prime's though, including me, thank god!
