From the reports that have printed, it was so very easy to view them as strange and questionable... but after watching them on Oprah, I feel that they are a very loving, kind and caring couple. He is legally a man, and something he pointed out about having a baby: that isn't a gender want, it is a human want. He wanted to have his own child, one day... so he kept his reproductive organs. Testosterone altered his outward genitalia enough that he actually didn't need surgery to having something of a penis.
This baby is being born into a loving family... the wife's older children had nothing but kind words to say about them. I wish them all of the best... their story is an unusual one, sure, but one of love...
why their need to be on oprah? and why the need for the PREGNANT MAN headline? this will next be a book & movie $$ and I dont need to try to explain to my children about a pregnant man--- she is not a manI watched Oprah too.
My heart goes out to this " man ". I felt like crying the whole time while watching this show. This story really touched me.
His mother commited suicide when he was 12 years old. His father was not a really loving daddy. Never showing any emotions or love.
Last year " he " was pregnant and lost the babies ( he said they were twins & no fertility drugs used). Had a tubal pregnancy.
I don't understand all of this. But I certainly have not walked in this person's shoes and can't judge " him ". He wants love and happiness.
He and his wife seemed like very sweet and loving people.
That's all we all want isn't it? Love, happiness , a family. To be accepted.
I wish them the best and hope they have a lifetime of happiness.
He isn't really a man so it doesn't count. He is a wannabe man with a vagina and no penis if I am reading the story correctly. This shouldn't have made the news.
I sould have said in my post, that I dont particularly care about their chosen life- if she wants to be a man- and feels the need- more power to her- I truley have no problem with it- I have a problem with the headline pregnancy- imo- this should have been kept quiet, and to be honest- she should not be walking around looking like a man, and pregnant-it is just tooooooooo over the top for me- too over the top-Hi j2mirish.
Yes, discussing this with children is a hard one. Heck, discussing it with anyone is hard really. No in reality he is not a man. But, for whatever reason, "he" wanted to live as one. I sure don't understand it.
He and his wife said they wanted to tell their story themselves and not have the media and the tabloids telling it.
It seems it would have been best to keep it quiet, because now they have opened that door up themselves and will now be hounded, for sure, by media.
Yes, I'm sure there will be a book soon.
It is difficult for me to understand. I thought it was a sad story really.
Very sad. Someone would be so confused, or so unhappy, or feel so unwanted or whatever the case is, that they go to such extreme lengths in searching for happiness.
I'm not condoning the situation, I don't even understand the situation, but I felt great empathy for " him ". To me there was a sadness in " his " eyes.
It is strange, weird, all of the above. I am just trying to undertand.

and the child-Yes I agree. It's way over the top.
I don't know why he/she insists on living as a man.
It seems that they could have lived together as a lesbian couple.
It is just very strange and I believe will alot of their choices will present many many problems for them down the road of life.

To answer the part about not living as a lesbian couple, the female who is living as a man sees herself as a man, therefore, living as a woman is not an option for her. It's a psychological thing rather than a sexual orientation thing. She sees herself as being born the wrong gender. So, she's not a gay woman, she's a straight man.
I heard on the news yesterday that his (that's how he lives, that what I'll call him) wife is unable to have children. It's possible that he chose to keep his female reproductive organs so they could have a family one day. Or, he chose not to go with a full transition. I don't know which, it's his personal choice.
I agree... he has female parts, therefore, to me at least, he is not a he but a she..![]()
Until that "man" grows a penis or has one planted on her...she is a woman and this is ridiculous.
Im with you Pooh.I am so sorry if I offend anyone with this, but looking at that picture just freaked my freak! I understand his/her shim's rights or whatever, I think. But no not really, oh my GOD! This is just wrong on so many levels, and according to what I have been raised to believe..this isn't JMO. I won't bring religion here. Watching the show was disturbing, he looks like a dude with a beer belly..but there is a precious baby there, and I do understand that these parents love each other very much and will no doubt be awesome parents...times are just so hard for a child living under semi-normal circumstances, it will be tough. But hey the absolute worst "parents" we read about here on a daily basis are considered "normal". But what really drove it home for me was watching the ultrasound, this is for all intents and purposes a MAN laying on the table having a freakin' ultrasound. Sorry my imagination just cannot stretch that far..I will try to work on that.
