a view from the inside: observations from our own court observers #7

I just saw this on the site! Looks like the defense is not too happy that Martinez apparently proves that if she stepped on that shelf it would have fallen!

I'd usually feel sad watching this kind of slow suicide but in this case, she deserves all that she gets. And to think I kinda liked her on Day One.

Old Alyce is a little long in the tooth for trial work when she doesn't understand computers, texting, etc. Time to retire.

So basically he filed a motion based on 1.) information ruled upon in previous motions, and 2.) rhetorical, hyperbolic references to events that took place in New England sometime in previous centuries?

Alrighty then...

Nurmi missed another event: the old lady knitting in gallery. Just Kidding.

There's been lots of talk about the clip and what JA said so when the WS server isn't being so hardhit by so many viewers, I will search and find it for you as it should be referenced somewhere direct.

Awww thanks, but it's not necessary. If you happen to run across it great, if not, no worries.

courtroom observers, can you tell when the cameras are on you? is it a mechanical cam or does the cameraman point the camera ? thanks

OMG ... just watching the trial and the deer in the headlight look on the defense team, .... all the eye contact and eye-darting messages back and forth ....

This is what I see ....:panic:

And THIS is me (and all of my WS friends) :skip:

I think Juan is doing an absolutely amazing cross. I am so very impressed :great:

KCL,
Jodi nodded to someone as the jurors were walking out for the 3 minute break, did you see that? Looked like it was toward a juror

No, we have no idea when the camera is on us. There are several in the room.

HTH

my husband said that too???

I saw it too. It's easier to see things like that from home. If she has another in mind to get kicked off it's all her idea. The jurors don't look at her when they enter or exit the courtroom.

I hope KCL was able to see it, and if she was she'll let us know.

Was that KatieDDJ sitting next to the cackling friend of AVL's partner??

People, people, people! What does it matter what some pundit or talking head as to say about anything? YOU are watching the testimony and are as capable as anyone of making a determination about what you are seeing and hearing.
Actually, YOU are perhaps MORE tuned in to what a juror would be perceiving than any of the talking heads who have a formal law background.

Notice that Juan has toned down his "anger" today. Oh, he is so good at what he does, isn't he? Like he was really "mad" at Alyce last Thursday. Watch how he goes at her in such a subtle way. Making her look like the azz that she is in thinking she could put anything over on this Prosecutor.

Notice how Juan again today went straight back to Alyce's lack of education within her field? For those not familiar with the field of psychology and psychologists, no one who is anyone within the field would not have a Doctorate. Having a Doctorate within this field is the norm and anyone who does not have this level of education would not be respected by any legitimate peer. Anything they wrote would not be published in any peer-to-peer journal, unless they could be listed as a co-author with a more credentialed person.

Strange that this woman did not complete her education. But I think that lack of completion is what would have led to her conducting seminars based on the "catchy" title of "Was Snow White and abused woman?" She lacked the proper credentials to draw anyone in to hearing her speak.

I'd like to hear her questioned as to why she felt this "catchy" - and according to her testimony misleading - title was needed for her "keynote-or-not-really-keynote" addresses.

Remember the Peter Principle? About when a person reaches their highest level of incompetence? (President Richard Nixon was one of the finest examples).

Well, folks, Alyce is there. She has over reached. Juan is going to offer her an out that could possibly save her credibility for the remainder of her career.
Alyce should take the out.

And what has been pretty funny to me today is that the THs are still acting like Juan is yelling and being aggressive today and that ALV is doing a good job holding her own. But he has been very calm and patient with her today and she has not answered his questions and is being very combative for no reason. I mean, asking him why his line of questioning is so important to him, is she kidding?!?! He's the prosecutor and it's his line of questioning and she needs to answer it, even if she finds it irrelevant. She has some gall, I'll say that.

Can't wait to see you! Those poor Jurors have to be so frustrated. They get there by 9:30 and start 2 hours later. UGH.

Go Katie. I will be tuned in.

I could be wrong, but I heard it slightly different: "(You) Still beat me......Brat.

Sorry for quoting myself. The reason I believe she said that is because I did watch the entire interrogation tapes and in them, she tells Flores how if TA were there, then TA would tell Flores that she had nothing to do with his murder. Flores responds by saying that he doesn't believe her and TA and all the evidence is talking to him and it's his job to speak on TA's behalf, and TA is telling him JA did it.

So, this would mean (to JA) that Travis "still beat her" so to speak. She's not going to get away with his murder and she acknowledges that in that moment.

Yeah, let's not bombard the judge with complaints about things we aren't really sure about. She has also already taken care of the ALV to Sam moment.

Let's just let her do her job.
