a view from the inside: observations from our own court observers #7

There is a big article about it from my local news. Troy Hayden again. I read it, the jail is aware, her attorneys are aware I'm sure everyone's aware. I will not indulge this (or any) sociopath with the one thing they want more than anything:

attention

I'm keeping mine on Travis.

Ok can't blame you thank you
Your right this is about Travis not her wanting center stage .

She's on an island up there and she knows it.

She knows no one is engaging on the jury.

ALV looks pale grey today.

No note taking re: "Playing chase"

CEO pulls out a juror question paper.

He's writing a question.

No note taking on "minimizing" lecture.

I think her bias has been shown to be so obvious, the jury is no longer taking her seriously.

CEO places question in the basket.

When she talks re: DV, she's actually interesting--it's just when she tries to shove Square Peg JA in to that round hole (so to speak) she loses me.

Thanks KCL. I really agree about when she talks about DV. The first day of testimony I found her very interesting. But as it became more and more obvious how biased she is.....and how she has sold out.....my opinion of her crashed.

Would you agree that ALV didn't do herself or JA any favours today when she acted confused over every hypothetical JM faced her with, but when JW asked her to consider a hypothetical situation regarding the same characters, she said "Sure, I can do that"?

I think the DT showing that video of Travis shooting the guns will backfire. First off, it doesn't prove he owned a gun as they are not his and none are a .25. But also, it'll give the jury a chance to finally see Travis alive, smiling, happy. They'll be reminded that this person, someone 's friend, brother was killed. It'll make Travis real for them.

So bring it on. Humanize Travis for the jury.

When the cell phone starting ringing today, did everyone KNOW it had to be ALV? Painful moment, just like when she forgets her glasses.

Juan said he was going to play a CD of an interview. No sooner had he said that (this is how I heard it in the gallery) music started playing. At first I wondered if it was some weird intro. Then quickly realized it was a cell phone. I did not hear ALV say it was her phone (as seen on feed) because the ring-tone was pretty loud.
I saw the bailiff looking around, then under the MS desk, pick up a purse and carry it outside the courtroom. :)

I didn't notice the jury. I was fighting back my own tears when she talked about abused kids grow up to be abusers and then trashing the family. I was insulted and hurt by that testimony today.

I talked to several others who had a similar reaction to mine.

I found it tremendously odd that Arias' remarks about her turbulent childhood were quickly cast aside whereas Travis' were talked up. Unbelievable.

The sad thing is, I don't think AV is malicious in her assessment; I truly believe that SHE believes Arias is the victim in this case. Lord, she said as much. Did anyone catch when she called Arias the victim and Travis the perpetrator? In a way, the whole scenario is tragic. AV less so than poor Travis, but none the less, her staking her reputation, and doubtlessly good work helping REAL victims of domestic violence, on this seemingly sociopathic woman... ugh.

Don't do anything to give the sociopath attention. But watch yourself from DT looking for anything. If the DT could see how the first couple of rows looks like compared to the PT side, they would think about clearing out some people. Maybe, even let the general public have the seats, even that would look better at this point for Arias. jmho.

KCL ... hi, I'm sure your are sawing logs about now. But I just saw on Dr. Drew that AVL is not the last witness. They announced it as news that they just learned late tonight. Hmm?? Any ideas???

With Arias' increased restlessness next to Willmott, her smiles, rolling of her eyes at Mr Martinez, mouthing words like "objection", overbearing clingy behaviour with Willmott, I hope that security is nearby, as I fear an outburst is soon to be expected.

That's a very interesting observation. When I was little, I would work up to my tantrums. It would take about 6 weeks, and my mother could very CLEARLY see them coming. When it happened, she just let me cry and scream it out because she knew I NEEDED to do it. I'm betting JA's MOTHER sees it coming.

Great point. That's very important. Right now he's just pictures and words to the jury. :(

Everytime ALV talks about the abused she always references the abused as a "she" which to me sounds like a bias in more ways than one in this case. :furious:

Do y'all hang out here during trial? Limo is right this is a cool bunch.

I do. Usually to answer questions re: things that go on in the courtroom. I love the main thread but I can't keep up. :)

Infinite thanks, katiecoolady and PASA! :beats:

p.s. I looked up the meaning of 'Biased' and I swear it said - Alyce Laviolette!

Was her photo there too? :) Good one, I like it.

Didn't mean to cause a ruckus, was just shocked and enraged about it. And that's the last thing I'll say about it;)

I think it was eaarly last week I commented on one of the threads that JA looked like she was about to snap. At the end of the day one of tv's talking heads reported that JW commented to the bailiff to make sure JA took her meds. The next day JA looked more relaxed. I wonder if she is refusing to take meds because she thinks she is not mentally disturbed in any way?

I hope this on topic and/or of interest to those in and out of the courtroom today...

I counted the amount of Objections by both JW this am/early pm and by JM on re-direct. I also tallied up whether the judge over-ruled or sustained. NOTE: If they were asked to approach I based this ruling on the question immediately following the aproach, ie: if it was the same I would count it as an over-ruled.

JW: 37 objections. 30 were over-ruled, 7 were sustained.

JM: 43 objections. 18 were over-ruled, 25 were sustained.

JW was batting .189 today, while JM was batting .581

Baseball fan or not, I think we can all agree on who the all-star on the field was today.

Thank you! Very interesting.

I agree. I want the mask to fall off just enough in front of the Jury. ....this is more than crying and screaming, Jodi has rage in her. She's losing.
