I can’t get past the irony of those who are super offended about folks being offended.

Illustrates the “everyone is offended by everything” is a meaningless trope.

Its sad people are taking advantage RB and acting like the words of a very ill woman are sane statements to embrace and revel in.

Roseanne in 2013 says:

"Newsflash: Yes, I do have mental health issues. Decent ppl refrain from bullying, lying to, manipulating & taking advantage of ppl like me."

Roseanne admits 'mental health issues'

At the link RB says she will never work in TV again and explains why. Interesting read from 2013 considering the current events.

And how awful it is for that baby, who has been shown racism at the very first time it draws breath. This child will come to know the racism that was directed toward it when he/she was a newborn.
The people who are defending this racism against an innocent child are the very same people who are against abortion, because of the innocent lives, yet are quite comfortable about racist statements to one 'innocent life' when it is born.
I'm sure there are racists that don't have a problem with ending the life of a fetus. Just like there are those that stand against racism and are pro life.

So we can take this thread anywhere and everywhere? Anyone's view on any topic? It's not clear who can post what thoughts other than the topic and who cannot. Well, it is clear, but not stated.

Clarification would be appreciated - and if the clarification is no we cannot take the thread anywhere and everywhere, then posts need to be deleted. Jmo.

RB hints she may challenge cancellation of hit show.

Roseanne Barr hints she may challenge cancellation of hit show

The day after ABC pulled the plug on her No. 1 show over a racist tweet, Roseanne Barr returned to Twitter with a vengeance. The embattled comic hinted she may challenge the cancellation, tweeting to her fans Wednesday, "you guys make me feel like fighting back. I will examine all of my options carefully and get back to U [sic]." Barr created a firestorm this week when she posted a tweet likening former Obama White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett to an ape.

And saving the best for last...
"I mistakenly thought she was white," she wrote, a day after she said, "i thought she was saudi [sic].

ETA Samantha Bee called Ivanka a feckless c word which is causing an uproar for some.

It’s amazing how much damage a tweet can cause. Look at the people who have lost their job or have been sued for defamation all because they sent a idiotic tweet. I don’t do social media but can’t understand why anyone especially someone in the public eye would send an abhorrent tweet like this into the public domain.

Did Roseanne not think for a moment that there would be a backlash or repercussions for what she was posting or did she just not care?

Rtbm:
Bbm: Yes it is amazing. At the end of the day, given the kind of meltdown Roseanne had, I don't think she thought, was thoughtful, or cared about the repercussions.

And she threw a whole show under the bus. And while I'm not a sitcom person either, I saw great value in bringing the current cultural and social discourse to the table from a certain perspective. Humor, when great, is very revealing and healing.

Listening to the blowback of not only Roseanne but of other examples cited, who have had the megaphone, there is just a climate of out of control outrage & mudslinging. Whether it is any number of identifiers, it is still rolling around in the manure pile.

Not only did Rosanne let loose a few of her self described "jokes" she made it personal. So did Griffin. So did the TBS commentator Samantha Bee who went after Ivanka this week calling her the "C" word... Epic failure, all of them. Two got canned and so should the third.

I think it is the self importance that is really offensive. And in the case of Roseanne the total lack of professionalism. This last meltdown was the last straw in a string of meltdowns... She trashed a good show with a lot good actors and writers.

With some important lessons learned, I think ABC will recover, no problem, and create something that brings a voice back to the table.

I am interested to see where Roseanne goes with this. I am happy she is looking at repenting (her word, not mine) and being a learner.

Attempting to also get phone numbers for Jarrett, Michelle and GS to personally apologize to them tho I disagree with their politics. I was still wrong 2 dehumanize them-they r not my enemy, harboring hate & anger is my enemy. I can speak respectfully 2 those w whom I disagree.

these r the four steps in repentence: admitting you were wrong, making restitution, asking forgiveness from those u have hurt & at last, cracking open your heart in deep sorrow and remorse, where tears flow. #Torah

Pro-lifers stand against racism, by denying racism exists or by claiming that clearly racist statements are just personal insults.

You are talking 2 separate topics, abortion and racism, and stereotyping people quite a bit. ALL Pro Life people do not think the same about race, nor do those who support abortion think the same thing about race. There is no correlation, and I would be careful thoughtlessly drawing such extreme conclusions about race, based on your stance on abortion.

The subject of abortion has been introduced to this thread - seems there is correlation.

If you think the subject of abortion should not be here - calling out the poster who introduced it seems more logical. Jmo.

Imo, those that need to get up in the business of someone having an abortion need to show that they take in unwanted children and raise them unconditionally as their own while handing out criticism of those giving up children they don't want or can't afford. Have never seen that from an anti-abortion American though.

So yeah, say grace before each meal and disparage those not the same while consuming the meal. Isn't that what RB does?

Actually, contacting a mod is the most logical action if you believe something has been posted but shouldn't be. MOO

I'm not a fan of Samantha Bee. I have only watched her a few times at the urging of a friend. I do think her use of the C word was offensive and wasn't needed to get her point across.
I don't think she should be fired as she does have a habit of using that word in her routine and as far as I know no one has complained about it until now.
I did enjoy the short blurb regarding Ivanka aside from her usage of the c word. IMO

Well, that is fine. You can believe whatever you like, but your opinion is no better than anyone' else's on the matter. I could easily say those who oppose abortion believe in personal responsibility for one's actions. Why would another person be responsible for another's actions? And then, we get into one's conscience with God, and what defines life. So, it is not all so neat. So no, this business about "they take in unwanted children and raise them unconditionally as their own" does not apply, if one's own conscience believes a child is murdered during an abortion. I mean, what makes you more right, other than you have a different conscience?

I didn't say the subject should not have been brought up.

You are trying to be difficult. The topic is Roseanne's firing and why. However, I am going to close the thread. Don't have time to babysit.
