Document: Man accused of killing girlfriend at Abilene hotel changed his story
This is a shortened version of the story he told:
McCarter said he tried to wake Rowley up by slapping her face, which caused her nose to bleed, so he dragged Rowley to the bathroom and put her in the tub. She fell to the floor, causing a gash on her forehead.
He then put Rowley in the tub, (again), as it filled, later noticing that she was going under. Naturally, he grabbed her by the neck and pulled her head out of the water. McCarter then put her head back under the running water to clean the gash.
After a short time, McCarter said he noticed water running into Rowley's mouth and realized she might be drowning. He then called 911 and said that he had just returned to the room, walked in and found her dead in the tub.
Yup, he has an innocent explanation for every mark on her.
